Admit it you were wrong

Thought by now Jack Wilshire would be a boss in midfield for Barcelona or somebody after he first broke into the Arsenal team.

Left one out:

Liverpool will never contend relying on Suarez up top. He can carve teams open and be hell on the bi-line, but he's too wasteful to score 20 goals/season. They are going to have to get another striker that can score more regularly.

I was miles off on that one. Miles.

Player wise, not much, apart from Macheda I thought he was going to turn out to be a decent player.

- I was convinced Cleverley was our best midfielder at one point in the 12/13 season

- Thought Berbatov would be a success

- Kagawa would be a first xi player for us

- Mata would be an assist master for us

- Was unsure over Carrick before we signed him, ditto Evra and Vidic

- Thought Nani would be our first choice winger

- Thought Costa was good but not as good as he's shown for Chelsea

- Thought Wilshere was a top class player

I thought Rooney would grow into a cross between Alan Shearer and Eric when we first signed him, oh dear.

Not really that wide of the mark, is it? He's an excellent goal scorer and finisher like Shearer was, and is capable of moments of sublime brilliance, like Cantona was.

the most recent one for me

tall, strong, skilful Zaha, he was superb against us in a league cup tie.......reminded me of a young Ronaldo - i thought he was going to be great for us

Already answered further in the thread a few posts down,
also if you think Rooney orchestrates play like Eric you and I are not remembering the same player.

That Fellaini was a liability.

That Jones would be the best defender in the league.

That Cleverley was destined for the top.

I thought Scott Minto would get 50 plus caps for England. Same for Gavin Peacock.

I thought Zola would not give a shit and flop at Chelsea.

I thought Lampard was a waste of money when we paid £11 million for him.

I thought Cech was a pointless signing (Cudicini was great).

I thought Scolari would be fantastic as manager.

I thought Ivanovic was a "Bebe" style transfer (dodgy as feck way of giving money to someone).

I thought Falcao would tear the league up (not tear up because he can't get a game).

Thought Jones and Adnan would both be sensations, but looking like they will be bit part players at best. Also thought Berba was going to be the new Cantona.

Thought Oberton was going to be a world class winger.

Thought Cleverly was going to be one of the best midfielders in the world.

Thought Saha and Berbotov were going to have good careers here.

Didn't question Rooney's talent but did question his commitment to the club.

Expected Januzaj to be unstoppable by now, same with Rafael

Figured Ravel & Pogba would solve our midfield problems

Wanted Young, Valencia and Fellaini gone immediately when LVG came in

Expected Welbeck to be on the track to world class and that the finishing would come, don't think it will

Cleverley and Anderson were going to be a dominant midfield partnership for the next decade.

We would get Mourinho and not be concerned about his "attitude."

Stewart Downing was the next Giggs when he broke through at Middlesbrough and then dragged them to UEFA Cup final.

Ed Woodward was a Glazer man who would have to be tortured in order to get him to spend a penny

Harry Kane is overrated.....well until a month ago. I think he is genuine class now

Fellaini. Everything about him. That he wasn't united quality, that he'd never make things work, that he'd be out that door come summer.

He's work damn hard to make it work here. And a good few games have gone by where if he wasnt involved we would have struggled to grab wins.

- For the first 6 months Evra was here I thought he was the worst player we'd ever signed. He was genuinely awful. I hated him...then about a year later he ended up being my favourite United player.

- I thought Welbeck would eventually develop into a good goalscorer...the Andy Cole/Saha type who missed most of their chances but somehow still end up scoring nearly every game anyway. He's sort of become that, except he doesn't score nearly every game instead.

- I thought we'd have a decent first season under Moyes and then it'd maybe all start to crumble apart after that.

- Ashley Young...always liked him for his work rate but never thought he'd last as long as he did here, let alone suddenly start looking like one of our better players (albeit being partly down to everyone else suddenly looking a lot crapper).

- Ben Foster would be our first choice goalkeeper.
- Danny to make it as a international top class striker
- Liverpool to really push on and win the title after the 08/09 season
- Moyes would be very good for us
- Ravel Morrison will be World Class

Mata wouldn't be able to put in performances worthy of a top Man Utd player. Exceptional in our last 2 big games. Would love him to get a chance to score against Chelsea.

Same.

I was wildly wrong about Ashely Young this season. There aren't many players where I completely fail to see their good side, but before this season I was of the view that Young had put together, at most, about 5 decent performances in 3 years.

And maybe that was true, but this season he's been one of our most consistent players and well worth his place in the starting 11 right now.

That the squad bequeathed to Moyes from Fergie was top quality, and only in need of minor tweaking.

Since Ronaldo left, my scouse mates had always gone on about how it was only the genius of Ferguson that enabled United to continue to compete and win trophies when our squad was rank average at best. I obviously passionately disagreed. It kills me that I was proved wrong.

I didn't think Valencia, or especially Fellaini and Young could be useful players for us this season.

1) Never thought de Gea would make it here and he'd be back in Spain within a year.

2) Thought Moyes was going to be a success here.

3) Was afraid that Liverpool might make another title push this season.

Thought Daley blind was our worst signing (turns out he's our best)

Thought de Gea wouldnt make it here after his dodgy start he had with us

I thought we would finish in the same position (7th) this year too.

Wait, I thought of one. I met Cleverley while I was pissed and told him he was 'going to be really good'.

- Was sure we were destined to win the Champions League in Rome

- I thought Fellaini would end up being one of the worst transfers in the Club's history

- Wasn't impressed by the Van Der Saar signing at the time, thought age was going to catch up to him

- Thought Hazard was going to end going down the Nani route

Didn't think Tevez was world class At Juve. Couldn't have been more wrong on that one.

Obertan, Really? I haven't seen him play one good game in his career, even to this day

He would always show some really good skill once or twice a game. I just thought he would put it all together, quickness and skill, and come good. I do remember he liked stepovers a little too much. Interestingly, he rarely uses them now.

Well, this season I've predicted that we would finish out of the top 4. But the last two games have been really impressive and of course I'm much more confident now of getting a CL place. A long way to go yet though.
Never doubted LVG's ability but just felt we'd fecked it up this season. Something just seemed to click with the Spurs game.
