Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Gee that's really a dick move and I tried to help the guy.

Ah well some people can't be helped I guess.

Me and Cina tried talking to him sensibly but you can see his reply for yourself. Would've banned him for that even if he hadn't pm'd Eboue.

I can't for the life of me understand how people haven't gotten this yet. Don't say anything at all about the plot of the books or the show in the TV thread if you're a book reader. Just don't do it. No matter how innocent.

You should probably just delete all his posts in that thread, and edit out anything he has said in quotes.

He pm'd him saying it's Oberyn vs The Mountain and Oberyn wins. Also that Aegon invades.
Jesus. That isn't on, at all.
Why did he do it? Just out of anger at the fact that Eboue and the TV guys were telling him to shut it?

I was hesitant on even explaining to somebody why some people called Asha/Yara by the other name just because you have to say its her book name
It really isn't hard to just not post in that thread. Or not post anything speculation wise.

I could be wrong, but didn't one of the early season trailers show Oberyn fighting someone? Have I made this up...

Edit: Yup, about 1:05 in.

These TV viewers really don't pay attention.

True but you see him fighting in a 1 on 1, not hard to put it together.

It's easy for us because we have read the books but I'm not sure we would remember that short scene from a trailer that is a few months old and connect it to the upcoming duel. Things that seem obvious for us book readers might not be apparent for people who only watch the TV show.

Considering the lengths they go through to link anything together, I don't put linking something actually in the trailer for the show beyond them.

 at that Fuzzlightyear twat

Another good episode. The Yara scene was a bit..yeah I don't really get it. Reek was very Reek-ish this week, which was cool. My name is Reek, my name is Reek! Really enjoyed the scene in Braavos at the Iron Bank, and a nice cameo from Mark Gatiss. Hope we see more of him.

The trial was superb from start to finish. What more can we say on Dinklage's acting. He's had enough. feck King's Landing! I also really liked the scene with Jaime and Tywin.

Meereen was a bit meh but we saw a dragon catch a goat which is always a laugh. Thought for a second the kid was a goner, but I think they'll save that bombshell for the end of the season, maybe next.

Did Asha even go to the Dreadfort in the books? I remember something at Moat Cailin but not there. My memory of that whole storyline is gone. Can't even remember how she got reunited with Tyrion or where she is currently.

No, but she eventually finds Theon when she's a prisoner of Stannis after she escapes from Euron Greyjoy (name?? ) . Theon recognizes first, but Asha asks Stannis to behead Theon instead of burning him alive. She definitely does care about Theon, or at least the Iron born.

Episode 8 is called The Mountain and the Viper. Subtle. I don't understand how can someone watch this show for 3 years and still manage to avoid spoilers. They're everywhere.

Gregor has finally arrived and he's not wasting any time I see.

You could see that it's The Mountain he's fighting, as well. To be fair I hadn't noticed it before, either.

Walrus in the other thread has just about nailed what's going to happen, except Oberyn's death. Kudos to him.

Just realised they never brought up the whole "Giant of Lannister" thing in the trial. iirc that's what sends Tyrion over the edge in the books.

Yeah I expected Shae to say that. But I'm not sure she called him that frequently enough on the show, it might not have had the same impact.

The Shae thing was shit in the show. Why they made her seem like she was actually so in love with him is beyond me, it made her 'confession' in the trial seem so out of place.

I suppose the idea was that Tyrion seriously offended her by forcefully driving home the point that she's just a whore when he tried to convince her to leave. So it was a sort of revenge for her hurt feelings.

It was unnecessary though, their relationship in the books was far more interesting.

Honestly that was a Coriolanus-esque performance by Tyrion at the end. Just can't wait for the scene where he kills Tywin in the shitter.

I wonder how they'll handle that, since there's the obvious moment where he does a shit. It would be funny and would help to emphasise that Tywin's ultimately just another person despite his power, but it could ruin the tension and seriousness of the moment.

I just can't imagine Charles Dance sitting in his own shit.

He seems to classy and above something like that, although Tywin seems to be as well which is sort of the point. I expect they'll exclude it though since they can survive without it.

I reckon they'll simply remove that. The "Tywin is just a man" part will be some kind of "What are you going to do? Kill me? Put that down before you hurt yourself"-kind of thing.

It's called ACTING! So it would probably be mud or chocolate pudding.
I know, I know. I meant more in terms of what @Cheesy picked up on. Though, the latter part of his statement is also true. Definitely scope for it to happen, but they'll need to be real delicate about how they handle it. A sensitive moment like this can easily be killed off.

My guess is that if the deal with it at all, it will be more Tyrion making a sniffing noise and then a face letting us know something stinks. Not so much a shit storm splattering all over the place. Perhaps they will go with a sound effect, but again that could come off as more comedic. But then again even in the book I was laughing at the thought of Tywin Lannister shitting himself when he died and then being a smelly corpse.

Probably. I hope they keep in the whole whore part and the "wherever whores go" thing.

it's supposed to be funny in the books though, isn't it? I certainly laughed.

Anyway, it's not a line, just a thought he has, and as great as Dinklage is, I'm not sure even he could pull off saying it out loud without it sounding a bit silly.

Yes please. This, and "only Cat" are the lines I'm looking forward to.

Looks like Only Cat might be next week, by the look of the preview.

I changed the thread title so that gobshites like fuzzlightgimp have no excuses for wandering into the TV thread instead.
