Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

There were. I remembered there was a multi page thread of the asoiaf forum asking people what their reaction to the red wedding was and majority seemed shocked. There were even some 'I had to drop the book and couldn't pick it up for a few days afterwards'

I actually put the book down for a week after the Red Wedding. A whole week. Okay not that long I know.
Maybe it was just my weird mates then. They got me into the books and they seemed rather indifferent by the RW. They were obviously affected but it wasn't anywhere near as much as I expected from them.

It's the same with many aspects of the show, the impact from the books often fails to translate over. Or maybe thats because I know whats coming...

They're going to tear Fuzzlightyear limb from limb.

Thing is non-book readers have said worse things than he has and been right on the mark. One guy getting upset with him almost seems not to have read the thread at all except for Fuzzys posts.

I get where they are coming from, but sometimes they get a bit overboard.

They're all completely paranoid. Ridiculous.

It is. I have doubts how many of them would be able to read the books if they tried. Did that come off as smug?

I don't get how they haven't had the temptation

I watched the first season and got the books the same summer!

*Sigh*

Mountain v Oberyn will bring back painful memories. Most profound chapter of the books for me, more so than the RW.

The Asha plot was fecking garbage though, absolute rubbish.

Now and then I will have a scan through that thread but I find it makes my head hurt and leaves me questioning the notion of human intelligence.
Some people in there are so into the show it baffles me that they don't read the books, my only guess is that they think it will ruin the tv show for them but it totally doesn't, well it didn't for me (watched the first 3 series in one then read all the books)
But why dedicate so much effort discussing every minor detail at great length, when the original source material is there and anyone who has read the books will tell you they are much better.

that tv show thread is a fecking strange place

The new guy is getting a taste of it right now.

I can remember the first time I mentioned the word "books" in this thread, without actually spoilering anything I had the whole lot of them on my ass accusing me of spoiling the show and screaming for my ban like a bunch of hysterical house wives.

Also the Yara/Asha scene was genuinely terrible.
Any scene with her (in the show) has been awful. She's very far from what she should've been. But yeah, everything about that raid was embarrassing.

Did Asha even go to the Dreadfort in the books? I remember something at Moat Cailin but not there. My memory of that whole storyline is gone. Can't even remember how she got reunited with Tyrion or where she is currently.

This.

Unless they are pressed for time then reading the books is a no brainer. The depth is unreal.

Sigh...Must, resist, urge.

He's right though. As someone said in the tv thread, it may be obvious that a trial by combat will happen but it's not 100% certain. They don't appreciate someone coming in saying they know what will happen, no matter how small or glaring it may be. Surely you understand that?

Urge to what? I've seen this shite for years. You go into the TV show thread which is explicity stated as being the TV SHOW THREAD where absolutely NO BOOK TALK IS ALLOWED EVER and start giving little hints and winky faces and "tee hee I know what's coming up next just wait". If I hadn't read the books and someone did that to me I'd tell them to get f*cked too, and you probably would as well. They're in a completely different mindset to us when it comes to the TV show and you should respect that.

Nah Asha trying to rescue her brother is totally made up. Not happening in the books. She shows up in Winterfell to offer him a way out but that's about it. It was also weird to see her talk about Theon being the heir to her fathers throne when even in the show that right was severely questioned due to Theon being raised by a Stark.

Just saw what he pm'd Eboue. Think a temp is in order here.

BORED. Moving on.

It was a plot point that made no sense at all when they first brought it up last season. The execution was even worse.

I suspect the sole reason was to show that Theon was completely lost but they could have done that differently.

So not entirely right but regardless a dick move. Whether he meant to spoil or not.

He'll actually give Eboue more of a surprised when Oberyn gets his face smashed in, so there's that.

Who the feck doesn't want to read a book because it might spoil a tv show. Thick cnuts.
