Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

I would have preferred if it they had kept it as subtle as it was in the books. Would have added a bit of mystery to both their characters. Getting a blowjob in the first real scene with them was a bit much.

I'm sure there's going to be a backlash from those 2 scenes today. And PETA's going to be pretty mad with the show. And from the looks of the promo and where the stories headed next weeks a.k.a Dany smeared with blood, they aren't going to get much happier.

My god, that breast feeding scene, it was every bit was creepy and disturbing as I had imagined. She's the perfect amount of crazy!

And Bronn is so awesome!

And the gay, only HBO would do that.

I think I might be a fanboy, every episode is my new favourite..

Who is Bronn?

The amount of characters can confuse a casual viewer like myself. That said, I did read up on a few of the Houses... and, I quite like this- 'Unique among noble Westerosi families, the Targaryens follow the Valyrian practice of line marriage, wedding brother to sister'.

It's kinda covered everything though... breast feeding monarchs, gay sex, midget sex, incest, rape, bestiality and obese people.

Having said that, the bloke who plays Robert is awful.

Mark Addy. Thought he was quite good in the role really. There was a huge outcry when he was cast because Robert was supposed to be this epic warrior in his prime and Addy is well ... fat. But it fits in well, because Robert has become this drunken, womanizing, fat prick and he's forgotten how to rule the realm and what he needs to do to keep control. Some of his line delivery is a bit-off, especially when he's barking orders but his quieter scenes, especially with Cersei and Ned have been rather good.

Who is Bronn?

Bronn is the sellsword who happened to be in the Inn when Catelyn Stark arrested the imp. He's accompanying Lady Stark to the Eyrie to make sure the Imp doesn't get away. He's the one who went all ninja on the tribe of wildmen who attacked their party. He's a rather cool character. You'll see more of him in the coming episodes.

I thought Addy sounds as if he's reading an autocue...sometimes(as you said line delivery seems to be a bit off). Then again, not everyone's as natural as Brando, I guess.

But anyway, I've got a hard on for Daenerys. Nice. Very nice.

Two episodes at once on Sunday. I'm already hard.

It feels very strange that it's now saturday (okay, friday, but I stayed up all night last night and just got up). It feels like I saw the last episode like a couple of days ago. It's probably due to how focused I've been on finishing my Masters paper, that the days have flown by.

And yeah, it's two episdoes, the second one on HBO Go. Which I don't really know what is, let alone have. But I expect it will be up on.. sites.. as well.

Have you read the books? Don't forget this is the book spoiler thread. Or maybe it doesn't really bother you? I know I get as much if not more enjoyment out of it from having read the books and sort of knowing what to expect.

Anyway, in case you just blundered into this thread on accident, I'll say this in spoilers:

Don't worry about Robert, he won't be around for too long anyway

Who is Bronn?

He's the sell-sword who took Tyrion up on his offer to "sell" his room to him at the inn, before Tyrion was taken. He's the dirty sell-sword who's awesome at fighting despite not being a knight. That's also part of the charm of aSoIF, actually, that the brave knights aren't the end all be all (I might have butchered that "saying").

Edit: Oh, I see it's already answered. And yeah, I agree. He's quite a cool character. Despite not being a particularly good character.

Aaaah! I want episode 7! Surely there is one geek out there that is clever enough to capture it from HBO Go!

Ahh my Brotherhood without banners, don't mean to brag ... but Ep7 was a beaut. Lots of great scenes, loads of tits doing all kinds of nasty and a mother of a cliff hanger. I think I can honestly say I haven't seen a better cliffhanger on TV for ages. The non-readers will be friggin' hooked.

Lots of casting speculation starting up again. Hope they get a big name actor for Stannis so that people get over the top-billers who will be missing from the first season. Mark Strong, Robert Carlyle, Dominic West, Tim Roth have are names that have been whispered about. I'll gladly take any one of them.

Mark Strong would be a great Stannis. Good shout.

How about Gary Oldman as Davos Seaworth? He's be perfect I think.

He'd be great, as Stannis too actually. I think he would have Stannis's physicality, atleast in my mind's eye. But I guess he's too high profile to take it up. It would be atleast a three-four year committment.

Mark Strong, great shout!

The good news is that GRRM has publicly mentioned the characters that they've seen auditions for and Stannis hasn't been named. So hopefully, they bagged someone big who didnt need to audition for the role. We can hope.

I have to admit, one thing this series has done is to sort of display the actors as they appear in the TV series when I now think about or read the books. Not completely, but to a degree. And we're basically just over half-way through the first season. I guess my mind isn't bothered about some characters being "too old" in the series, like Bran. He wouldn't pass for a six year old. And Ned and Robert, etc, also quite a bit older.

Just watched episode 7..... yes I know its late but still.

It was  It had everything you wanted in a show and was just amazing. The last 10 minutes were great because everything seems to have come to a head there and Littlefinger is immense. The Drogo scene where he is saying he's going to war was very good and I thought well acted considering its a weird language he had to speak in. I'm looking forward to them entering the frame in the kingdom

Yeah that fake language is a bit odd alright. But it was done well.

It was a great episode, I only watched it today myself, managed to hold out for the HD!

Though no Tyrion is always a bit of a let down. Peter Dinklage is doing a great job.
Sean Bean has been great.
Aidan Gillen has been a bit shit.

Dunno, lack of facial movement apart from the odd smirk. Maybe it's just not what I considered Littlefinger to be like, I always imagined him as rather eccentric and cunning, which Gillen isn't.

There isn't enough covering of the direwolves, imo. They left them out of the Bran-wildlings scene.

I can't wait til we go back to the Wall.

I would assume it's because they're very difficult to portray in the show unless CGI is used, which I doubt they want to do due to the attempted realism of the show. I mean right now they're just using dogs.

Which begs the question, what will the last scene look like? :)

OoooæææææeeeeeeeeeahaaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeWANTNOW

1. The Hound walking towards Sansa with that grin on his face.
2. Varys meeting Ned in the dungeons.
3. The wight at the wall.
4. Drogo's fight.
5. The kingsguard unsheathing their swords in perfect unison.

Epic Badassery. The next show's going to be so :drool:

You're going to have to explain that one, I think. How was it deus ex machina? The series even made the motivation for the betrayal ten times more obvious than the books did. It made perfect sense from his perspective.
