Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

You're saying that as if that's some kind of grand revelation. There are lots of much subtler things in the series than that.
Both the BloodRaven and the hand in 'The Hedge Knight' (forgot his name, but I am talking about the third book) were really minor characters and finding the relation between them was amazing. Of course, it isn't near as important as R + L = J, but much harder to spot IMO.

Is the 4th season going to touch A feast for crows or is it just be going to 2nd half of Storm of swords?

I do believe there is ample evidence she was involved, but Littlefinger most likely had his hands in that plot also.
Both of them were involved. And probably Loras' brother too (forgot his name). And Sanda (though she didn't knew it) but she had the poison in her hair jewelery which was given to her as a gift from Littlefinger.

What is the deal for Stannis' death mentioned here? He's not dead, for all we know Ramsey lied.

Yeah, I guess. It's interesting nonetheless.

It's going to touch A Dance with Dragons, in all likelihood.

I thought read somewhere that it was just going to be 2nd half of SoS. Have any of the iron men been cast??

The 5th season might be crap if they stick to the books. THere's not a lot in the last 2 books that might make for great viewing.

They've largely stuck to the books though. The changes they have made have been fairly small.

I didn't say they made changes, I just meant that they didn't follow the exact timeline, or what is in which book. Theon, for example. He was basically absent until A Dance with Dragons, but had a pretty big last season. We'll probably get some ADwD stuff on Bran this season too.

I'm sorry. :nervous:

You've literally just ruined the ending of a series of books I've just started and been really excited to get into.

This is what people are saying about not posting in the other thread, spoiling things is very easy.

I will not pretend that it was a big blow, the series has lost some perspective.

What I'll tell you is, you would have seen it coming from book two itself, so it's not much of a give away. And I'll also add that destroying the world is only half the equation, there's so much more you won't see coming even before and after that. Plotlines aren't Brandon's greatest gift in this series, magic systems and character arcs are.

Go ahead and read the thing - I assure you, you'll still enjoy it despite my clusterfeck sabotage.

I'm really terribly sorry, mate. :(

P.S: if you were excited by this series, I'd recommend reading Elantris and The Rithmatist, both by Brandon Sanderson.

I'll probably stick with it. No doubt I'll forget by the time I get to the end anyway!

I'll give those other two a little look over too - thanks

Ffs, why would you spoil that. Thanks.

If it makes you feel any better, he's wrong.

Just read the books, they're good.

Oh, and definitely read Sanderson's The Stormlight Archive series. It's pretty much his Wheel of Time or his A Song of Ice and Fire. Book two just came out (although I haven't received it yet), and book one was brilliant.

Agreed, it'll be his masterpiece.

Erm, @Gandalf Greyhame, Stannis isn't dead. He is in the chapters GRRM leaked of the new book.

Leaked Chapters? When did this happen? Where's the link? How many chapters? Is Jon alive? Has Winterfell been rescued? What happens to Cersei? Is Jaime alive? Is Brienne alive?

I already know, mate. Leaked interviews came first.

Yeah I've avoided reading them. Had a glance at a few lines when temptation hit but see no point in putting myself through the misery of reading it and getting excited. Much better to just be patient.

Pretty sure it'll include stuff from the last 2 books. They've gone far enough with some characters that they have to.

I doubt it, lots to cover in the 2nd part of Book 3.

Edit: Actually, that new trailer at 55 seconds shows what I assume is the Titan of Braavos which is book 4 I believe?

Huh? Seriously, stop posting in there, you'll get banned.

Ah, this is what you meant.

Crazy blokes on the other thread. A ban for making a sensible argument? Absolute nonsense. I have half a mind to PM crappyperson a list of spoilers.

If I ever end up sticking around, I'd have owed you one, Cina.

you won't be getting banned, don't worry. Probably a thread ban though.

He has a point though and this is the shit non book readers pick up on and hate, a lot of book readers in that thread do go in there and tell them how great Jaime is. Fact is he's not portrayed to that level in the show yet and that's why it's annoying for them.

As I said, I'd be pissed too.

I was wondering how long it would take them to turn on GG with burning torches and pitchforks.

I'm surprised he got that far actually, especially after Revan got involved in the discussion. The level of hatred that guy can attract in there is actually vaguely impressive.

It really is better to stay out of discussions in there. Even if you're being really careful they'll start inferring things from your attitudes and comments that they wouldn't otherwise. You can piss them off while saying nothing a non-book reader wouldn't say anyway.

My distrust of Littlefinger and anything he says is to the point that even when he admits he did something I still tend to believe that there is a good chance he is lying. Varys is the same way for me. Not that I hate their characters, but they are engaged in plots within plots, plans within plans, and I would not be shocked to find out towards the end that either or both has other motivations then they have said.

Actually in my simple post, I didn't even knew that Gandalf has read the books. Just that I agreed with him how I feel for Jaime.

Both of them are brilliant and some of the best characters in the saga. Actuallt, Varys is probably my entire favorite character there. I think that Littlefinger is a cnut, and I will be rooting for Varys in their next inevitable clash.

Yeah but I was so sure GG's detailed post combined with your wholehearted approval would be enough to set them off. They view your contributions with serious suspicion.

Anyway, as crappy said, that sort of nuanced appreciation of Jamie's motives is usually the mark of a book reader. The TV show still has a bit to go before his character reaches that stage.

Varys *seems* to have the best interests of the kingdom at heart, where as Littlefinger just wants things for himself.

With the new trailers, the amount of unsullied who are starting to think "yessss, dragons. Daenerys is gonna feck shit up in KL" is increasing. I really feel for these people considering where her storyline heads for the next two seasons :( KL my ass

Apparently (don't quote me on this), one of the British publishers tweeted that the next book was 'years away' before deleting her tweet:( Could mean nothing but given GRRM's history it wouldn't surprise me.
Drove some of the book readers on the internet absolutely crazy. In this case, there's two options, flesh out books 3,4,5 in full including all the boring filler-ish parts giving GRRM time and risk losing viewers and people's interests or overtake the show and have them end it(hopefully not). Though there are rumours it's not true and the book is still coming next year.

The funniest part is I remember that joke being made at the end of the first season. TV watchers are going to still be thinking it's around the corner two years from now. I thought it sucked reading 4 books and having her storyline essentially go nowhere, imagine waiting 4 years

According to Littlefinger, Lady Olena killed Joffrey and it makes sense I suppose.

When did Stannis die?!?

Nah, Oberyn killed him with that spear and they sent Gregor head to Dorne. God knows what Qyburn was up to in the dungeon.
Someone elses head went. I suspect Gregor is some sort of zombiefied giant. :)

Didn't Littlefinger, while talking to Sansa, hint at how she was on his side, and that it was all by his design? I may have to read that part again, I guess.
I remember the same as stated above that Littlefinger stated that Lady Olena had a hand in it. Littlefinger probably did too but he has a lot of balls in the air at the minute.
