Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

I'm not sure if it's the poster name, post number, or member number that's doing it. If you just remove all three, you'll be safe.

Did you get an alert just now?

Even if they don't come into the thread the fact that we're discussing their post might spoiler it in a way, they'll start wondering why we're talking about what they said. Probably best to do what 101 said and not directly quote someone.

Yea. C/p the text manually and add the username later. Not a big hassle.

I am sure there are many, but is there any good theories on "where do whores go?".

Hmm. I don't really have any. Do people think Tyrion is actually going to see Tysha again? I don't think Tyrion's story is going to end particularly well, I think if he does see her again it will not be a pleasant experience.

True and seeing as it's GRRM, Tyrion seeing her again, having some kinda happy reunion just seems like too much sappiness which seems out of character for the books.

Daenerys winning a "who should sit on the throne poll"

Sansa with Aegon will sit in the throne. Can we make a betting thread?

Some people have mentioned that the whore the NW member who Sam was with in Braavos is possibly Tysha.

The Sailor's Wife? Yeah I've heard that theory. Makes some sense, but at the same time....Tysha wasn't a whore. Why would she become a whore? (I guess the traumatic experience she suffered at Tywin's command could have something to do with it..)

She was paid to have sex with Tyrion and was paid to have sex with all these Lannister soldiers. Definitely a whore.

Also, I've just realised how hilarious it'll be when Jon Snow gets stabbed. It didn't do that much for me in the books as I'm pretty sure he'll be back, but the non-readers won't know that. All they're gonna see is another Stark getting fecked over for trying to do the right thing, another meltdown hopefully.
Yeah Jon is actually my fav character I can't wait for the remaining books.

Was she? This is what Tywin forced Jaime to tell Tyrion, but Jaime admitted to Tyrion when he freed him from the black cells in ASOS that she was not a whore, and so Tyrion realised their relationship was genuine. Yes, she was paid to have sex with all those soldiers (and then Tyrion), but that wasn't out of choice...it was forced by Tywin.

You don't know if she was forced. Remember, you've only got Tyrion's perspective. She got a lot more money than a normal whore for that days work.

She's a whore at least because of a technicality. But I think she is one. It doesn't make sense for a person to have sex with someone else immediately after almost being raped. Which mean it was staged. Which mean she was paid to do it.

Finished Uni so I've started reading them again. I'm a quick reader so I'm hoping to get through all 5 in around a month (I've not got much else to do until starting work later in the summer).

Working my way through the first one and it's amazing all the stuff I missed, minor stories and stuff. Things I kind of glossed over because I found it too confusing first time round, it all makes sense now. I really do think it's a brilliant series - the first 3 books, anyway.

Can't wait for tonight's episode too.

You can read the first few in a week or two. Did that last summer when I made free time on my summer job. Last 2 will take a couple weeks or so each because you'll not be reading as much of them as the first 3. Not hard to get through but not as pleasing to read for as long as you'll be reading the previous books.

I've just started watching the third series (I prefer watching a series quickly rather than one every week) and have finished the second episode. Can someone please be so kind as to refresh my mind over these points, I've forgotten so much:

- Is this book 3?
- I thought Jaime's and Brienne's travels were book 4?
- The whole Roose/Ramsey Bolton thing. Who did Theon get captured by (Ramsey?) and why are they torturing him?
- Did Robb marry Talisa in the books? I thought he got betrayed by someone else?
- Is the battle between The Mountain and the Red Viper in this series?

Thanks

Yes. Storm of Swords.

Nope.

Theon was captured by Ramsay, he's torturing him because he's all kinds of fecked up.

- Did Robb marry Talisa in the books? I thought he got betrayed by someone else?

He married Jeyne Westerling in the books.

- Is the battle between The Mountain and the Red Viper in this series?

It's in Storm of Swords but it won't happen until Season 4 of the show.

Thanks

Done.

Thanks, so Talisa was completely made up then for the show?

Well, she's just supposed to be Jayne Westerling I think. I'm not sure what was added/ lost by changing her name and a little of the backstory tbh.

That is going to be epic.

That is going to be epic.

It was another part of the books that crushed my side that dared to dream  Gregor was obviously the favourite but I thought y'know, maybe the little guy would win for once. It looked that way and then of course pure strength prevails and he just punches his fecking face in.

Yeah, I actually thought Oberyn had managed to best him, but of course Martin decides to punch the reader in the balls.

It probably will be epic if the TV show viewers actually know who the feck he is, right now he's just the Hounds mean brother who doesn't like horses to them, when really by the time that fight came around he was by far my most hated character in the books. The Mountain is definitely one character they haven't done justice to, yet.

They will probably make the Hound do something pretty shitty next year which wasn't in the books. If as expected Tyrion kills Tywin in episode 9 of next season, they still have plenty of episodes to play with.

I intend to read them all again shortly before the release of book 6 so that it's all fresh in my mind again.

It's a really intense part of the book, I hope they do it justice. One of the most disturbing bits for me is how openly Gregor just admits to killing the baby and then raping and murdering his sister so brutally (before, well, smashing the Viper's head). If the TV viewers think they've seen violence so far on this show, they haven't really seen anything yet.

Gregor pretty much did lose but GRRM kind of cheated by making him undead and reviving him again with no explanation. Berric was explained, Gregor just has some Joseph Mengele fella working on him who seems to have found a non-magic way to revive people. Basically making a Frankenstein.

For me it's the definite one thing that added to the show. If not only for her death scene. Made the RW even more intense.

It actually affected me more than the RW  I was rooting so hard for Oberyn and then he just had to prolong the battle and get killed :(

Since the character is supposed to be Cersei's champion in her trial by battle, I'm sure book 6 will probably explain the methods Qyburn used

Are we allowed to mention the show in here? Christ they ballsed up that ending, when you consider they could've done one of the following
-Lady Stoneheart
-Purple Wedding
-Battle at Castle Black/Ygritte's death
-Ayra using her coin (Although probably a bit too soon)

And what the feck was with that scene with Davos? Stop ruining Stannis HBO.

Of course you are, but you're certainly not allowed to be mentioning the books in the other thread like you're currently doing.

Didn't spoil anything. If you think there was anything near that I'll remove it.

It doesn't matter that you didn't spoil anything directly. As someone who knows that Daenerys' storyline heads nowhere in the next couple books, you should not be commenting on how underwhelming the ending was. You shouldn't be mentioning that there's several other events that haven't occurred yet in the show that would be better replacements, even if you didn't specifically identify them. It allows non-readers to draw inferences, especially if they know you know what is coming next. You're not the first one to do something similar, which is exactly why everyone has been repeatedly instructed to pretend that the books do not exist in that thread.

At the bare minimum you've implied that she doesn't die soon. You've also implied that there's very significant events worthy of a season finale coming up early in the next season.

We are supposed to basically act like the books don't exist in that thread. You saying there were 3 better options to end the season with still breaks the rules as it implies other knowledge of the story.
