Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Also, I've just realised how hilarious it'll be when Jon Snow gets stabbed. It didn't do that much for me in the books as I'm pretty sure he'll be back, but the non-readers won't know that. All they're gonna see is another Stark getting fecked over for trying to do the right thing, another meltdown hopefully.

Yeah, in the books you don't really see as much of the "he/she is dead, nah only joking I've introduced them again 500 pages later and they're alive", which Martin has become overly privy to and thus by now most book readers are pretty much agreed that Jon will return.

Plus they don't have any of the Lyanna/Rhaegar background theories to make them think there's anything particularly special about Jon. As far as they're concerned Robb was probably a way more important character in the grand scheme of things. They're gonna be convinced he's dead, right after making his big speech about going to fight Ramsay as well.

Brilliant episode. Left my girlfriend in tears. My roommate was dumbfounded.

The best thing that they changed from the books was having Mrs. Robb be pregnant, actually attend the wedding and being killed by murder in such a horrible manner. Really left an impression on you.

I posted yesterday, and things were confirmed. My wife said she won't watch the show anymore (again), and is really pissed at me for not telling her that this would happen. It will be a long week. She was dumbfounded, she spent a whole minute just cursing.

My housemate watched it today. I was really looking forward to his reaction and talking to him about it, because he's the only one of my mates that actually watches it. All I got was 'It was really shit and overdone. Not very realistic. Really wooden and bad acting from that old woman [Catelyn]. You'd hyped up this episode as really big and it just wasn't that good'.

Twit.

Im not a book reader but a quick glance at imdb has made me read a tonne of spoilers. So basically theon has it the worst ? From what little ive read he gets skinned and is tortured throughout the series and gets shit (literally) thrown at him

Then what are you doing here. You could easily get spoiled even more.

Theon has a really terrible story.

Hurt him.

More Joffrey bastard-offing. He really is the ultimate bastard. I mean yeah, this Frey chap has had spectacular rise in the bastard ranking but he's still below Jaime Lannister for me. His position is more understandable, he made a deal with Robb and Robb broke the deal so he chose the opposing side.

The most curious part of the whole thing is why don't the Starks and Stannis Baratheon have some sort of unspoken alliance?

They really failed with stannis character if tv viewers are asking this question.

It was almost the breaking point for me - - I should have known not to invest emotionally in any character, but you can't help yourself. I imagine everyone will be rooting for him now even more since he's the tragic hero!

Exactly what I was thinking too, I was even going to explain it to that poster but thought better of it.

They say that now, but they'll all be back.

Joffrey's death should be a shock as well, especially seeing as it will probably be around ep4 or ep5 next season. That should please everyone. Hopefully by the time Tyrion gets found guilty they'll actually believe there's a chance he could get killed. Tywin's death will be a pretty big deal as he's a popular character and Shae's death will probably hit harder than it does in the books as she's quite a bit more sympathetic in the TV show. Added to that you'll have the battle at the wall and Ygritte's death, so all and all next season should be pretty eventful. I'd have no fears of a drop in quality there.

What happens in the season after though? The next big shock I can think of is Jon's apparent death, that'd still be a while away. Are there any other major events before then that I'm forgetting? I think a lot will depend on how heavily the viewers invest in the new characters from Dorne and the Iron Islands. Season 5 will definitely be the trickiest of the lot to get right.

I think the biggest question regarding Jon Snow at this point, is whether or not he is actually dead, and Mellisandra will bring him back ala Berrick Dondarian/Stoneheart were by the other priest. Or if he isn't dead.

Either way it has implications on the plot going forwards, from a story/lore point of view, Jon is absurdly honorable and will not leave The Watch. However, if he is dead/brought back, technically his time in the Night Watch is over and he can be free to become King/whatever.

If he isn't dead, that is the bigger mystery imo. Does the assassination attempt change his character? Will he still be naively honorable? Will he take Stannis up to be absolved of his duty to the Watch? Is Jon really just a red herring to draw us away from the fact that Bran is probably the star, and he is going to die ala the wildling warg and inhabit a dragon? (Thats my theory anyways).

All hail Bran, the human dragon God king!

^

I can see the meme now: 'Can't walk? Becomes a dragon instead.'

Edit = never mind, wrong thread!

Also, my apologies!

What is AN! doing here? I always though that he hasn't read the books, and if I was correct he can spoil himself big here.

Edit: Shit, it was by mistake.

 I really think the mods are going above and beyond their duty in these GoT threads. You can't account for people being careless or making mistakes.

I can kind of actually understand it. When the two are constantly bumped, each taking turns at the top it can happen if somebody isn't thinking. I did it myself once and spoiled Joffrey's death too.

I think the issue is that they both contain BOOK in capital letters in the title. I think if you made the first word of each thread BOOK and TV respectively then it would eliminate some of the mistakes. I don't see how hard it is though, one is called 'A Song of Ice and Fire' and the other is called 'Game of Thrones.' They have DIFFERENT WORDS!!!

I PM'd AN. He said he saw Joffrey dies and that Jon dies. Luckily he didn't see anything about Tywin. I've tried to make it out like we could have been talking about potential deaths to give Jon's a bit of amiguity.

that's harsh, though most people have already copped that Joffrey will die at some point, given the whole leech thing in the show.

Wow, that has got to hurt for him anyways. Especially with Jon spoiler.

I think part of the problem is that the titles of both threads are both really long. Before, it could be easily differentiated without reading the whole thing by looking at the length of the title at a glance.

feck, poor AN. Of all the posts he could have stumbled on it had to be the one where I ruin the next few seasons. :(

Guess we can't quote posts from the TV thread in here any more? If someone gets an alert that they've been quoted it could drag them into the wrong thread.

Even if they don't come into the thread the fact that we're discussing their post might spoiler it in a way, they'll start wondering why we're talking about what they said. Probably best to do what 101 said and not directly quote someone.
