Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

I can't actually wait for tomorrow. Half-tempted to get up really early to watch it.

IT'S COMING.

I can't wait to see the butthurt. It's going to be beautiful.

Entertainment thread would go into meltdown. In fact, the Internet would go into meltdown tomorrow.

Stop bumping this you fecks. I thought we wanted to keep it on the down low.

 I was just about to post the Rains of Castamere in the other thread before re-reading the thread name.

Dammit jveezy, if you don't say anything about it, no one will pay attention to it!

(That's regarding facebook)

I know. I made the post and deleted it knowing that you'd still get an email.

Edit: My download could not possibly be going any slower.

 Love some of the reactions in the tv-thread so far! It'll only get better as more people watch it as well!

It's a shame that some of them have already figured out that Joffrey is going in the next episode though. But hopefully they wont see the other 2 deaths coming :D feck, I love this show!

Joffrey won't die until the next season, most likely. There's quite a gap between the RW and Joffrey's death. I reckon the end of this season (next episode's end) will be Beric Dondarrion reviving Catelyn.

I thought they did it brilliantly as well, really shocking stuff, and very powerful.

My only criticism is that Catelyn's reaction should have been more like the book, when she grabs her face and starts screaming with laughter after going mad. I just thought that was really shocking how she goes completely insane because of her grief in the books.

But they still did everything brilliantly apart from that. Really shocked with what they did with Robb's wife.

Really pleased to hear it was good. I can't watch til I get home from work. Did they include "Jaime Lannister sends his regards"?

They had it as 'The Lannisters send their regards', which I don't think is as powerful, but was probably done to cement how the Lannisters are involved in the Frey's treachery. 'The Reigns of Castamere' as a song is used to denote Lannister victory, to non-book readers I think having the recognition that this is a result of the power in the Lannister family (Tywin) makes it easier to understand. Jaime doesn't have anything to do with the RW after all.

They do something particularly awful with Robb's wife as well, a death I thought was hideously shocking.

They spent so much time building Jaime back up this season. I think throwing his name in there would be a big setback, even if it's important to Lady Stoneheart later. They can find some other way to make Lady Stoneheart angry at Brienne.

The addition of Talisa both killed a fan theory and made the most shocking event of the books even more shocking. There's book readers that were affected watching that, not by having the event brought to life, but by her particularly violent demise and the buildup before it (naming the baby, mostly).

Haven't seen it yet, but really disappointed they didn't do this part :( It was one of the scenes I was looking forward to, especially when she starts blabbering(in her mind) about her hair and how much Ned loves it
Oh well from everything else I've heard, seems they did a good job overall, so I guess it's negligible.

Some of the reactions on Twp

So now we know Rob's wife/potential child has no further role to play in the books?

Likely they consulted with Martin about this. Anyway, there wasn't a potential child cause she wasn't pregnant in the books.

Yeah. But there was a bit of uncertainty regarding her role/her future in the books. I liked it that way. I guess he's just going to ignore her now.

Also, is the actress who plays Catelyn now just going to spend seasons in makeup, walking around all dead?

When I first heard the book would be made into a series I absolutely knew this scene would cause some amazing outrage.

It was probably one of the most heart breaking chapters I ever read in a book and I think the show did a good job of causing the same effect, especially for those that didn't know what was coming.

So now we know Rob's wife/potential child has no further role to play in the books?

I think that would have been too far into the future anyways, I mean he would have to grow up and all that stuff before he could have ever become a significant figure, so we are talking about 15 years or so and I doubt the time frame in the book will still go for that long, so yeah I doubt we will ever hear from the kid in the books again either.

"I'd love it if Jon and Ygritte became the king and queen of the North. No idea if they'd allow a bastard to be king, mind you."

Guy in the TV thread  Ygritte is next to kick the bucket.

I have to say that that is probably one of the best 5-10 minutes of TV i've ever watched. I was nervous throughout the whole episode. I don't know what's worse - knowing what was coming (and still having the shock of the stabbing) or having it hit you like a 100-tonne freight train.

I hope they use this now as the turning point for the storylines, similar to how the books did.

I thought it was amazing in the books but part of me also wants to forget it and be surprised by the TV version. That might rank up with the top TV moments for a lot of people but I don't think it will for me (haven't seen it yet) as I already knew it was coming.

I would've been knocked off my feet had I not seen the RW coming. Moments like these that I wish I hadn't read the books.
