Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Oh ok. Weird, don't remember it being said that much.

There isn't much left for Jaime to do now in the show is there? The next thing that happens is him returning to King's Landing but that only happens once Joffrey is dead, which I think is happening in Season 4.

You know nothing, Solius.

I don't think she is. They've probably added that in to increase the shock and tradegy of the situation.

I'm really worried they might make the RW too obvious. They've not focused much of Robb so far this season, and I worry that if they increase the attention on him like they did in that episode that it might make what's coming in episode 9 really obvious, especially with the 2 week break. But maybe it's just paranoia.

I would have loved it if there was no inkling about the RW whatsoever. Everything goes swimmingly, and then suddenly it all hits the fan. Right now I see clues everywhere, even when I try to discount that I know what to look ofr from reading the books.

Edit: Or maybe Tulisa could replace Val, and their baby could replace Mances. That's the kind of change I could see the TV show making.

I think they might do tbh. They made the Danaerys killing the slave master with her dragon thing post taking the unsullied and the attack on her earlier on in the season when she was saved by Selmy painfully obvious and I don't remember either being as obvious in the books.

Even a couple of 'off' things in the wedding itself and people will start to suspect it.

She actually only said it eight times, thought it was more tbh  One of the reasons why I couldn't care less when she finally died.

And if they make Talisa undead, so she'll be a preggers zombie?:nervous:

She said it 8 times in one chapter? How did I get through it without banging my head on the table?

I'd also forgotten how sexually explicit the books are. I thought the tv people were spicing it up a bit, apparently not..

Were they? Besides Cersei's incest and half-lesbo scenes, Daenery's scenes, Jon, Samwell and a few others, I don't remember that much sex  especially nothing on the level of that scene with the whores doing each other from Season 2 and when you consider the Loras and Renly scenes that weren't in the books...

The implications of what Ramsay does to Jeyne Poole are pretty grim.

Wait... fat samwell has sex in the book? That'll be awkward watching.

The fight between Stannis and the Wildlings is going to have some awesome CGI, with the giants and all.

Nah, they'll just hire the off season nba players, slap some make up and hairy costume, and we are good to go!

Can't wait til Ygritte dies. Never liked that woman. The actress annoys me more. They shouldn't have shown her naked because that proved how frail she is. No way that woman could clime the wall.

What are they doing with Gendry? He's got a whole new life in the show now. Gendry for king I say. Gendry vs Targaryen vs Targaryen vs whoever is in Kings Landing at that point.

20 in the whole of ASOS. George even shoehorns 2 in after she's dead ffs.
I swear there is more times after she is dead where it is said. It felt like every time John was having doubts that he would picture her and she would say it.

Isn't there a bit in the later books where Davos is after Rickon so that he can secure an heir to Stannis's services? Maybe Gendry is going to fill that gap? (yes I know its a different kind of heir)

Davos helps him escape so I'm guessing that will happen and he'll end up back with the BWB.

Speaking of Rickon. Don't he and Osha split up from the others right about now?

Not sure what they're doing there then. They're on Skagos aren't they?

Yeah, I guess they just delayed it so people might not notice that absolutely nothing is happening with Bran at the moment. Her speech about not wanting to go back beyond the wall in the last ep was presumably setting up the split.

I don't actually remember even being said where they were. After the split, they are just never mentioned again, but by a Pike who says they are gone to Skaagos. How does he know I don't remember, and Maderley sends Davos after them.

It's going to be a bit confusing if/when She fecks off with Rickon because he hasn't even been in any of their scenes for ages. Those with low attention spans will be "where the feck did that kid come from?"

Yeah I think it was Wex who was up in the tree during the sacking of Winterfell. He told them Rickon was on Skagos. Davos has been sent to find him. I can't remember how Davos/Stannis knew though.

So I've gone and got the first book because my mates won't shut up about it. Are they that good? I've seen the first two episodes of the TV series but it didn't grip me, though I've been told I must persist with it (I realise there's a separate thread for that, but just thought I'd mention).

Also Cina probably hates the third book.

Yup first three are amazing. I'd whizz through the books before watching the TV series and I'd stay completely out of this thread as well. Feel free to google a recap / synopsis of the 5th book if you get bored like I ended up doing, you won't miss anything.

I think I found five shitter because when reading the fourth I was still high from the previous three so read it pretty quickly.

How many are there? I thought there were only 3. Are they easy to read?

There are five of them and you can easily get lost and confused amid all the characters that Martin parades in front of you.

It's not a "hard read" though, the first three books fly by, they are quite gripping and all. After A Storm of Swords the series become a fecking drag though.

feck off back to 24. I thought this was the one place I could complain about a TV show without having to put up with you.

I count it as 7, the editions of ADWD I got were split into 2 as well.

Well yeah but A Storm of Swords and A Dance With Dragons are both meant to be one book. Pretty sure Martin himself has said the series would be 7 novels (with Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring to come), so he clearly sees each as one instalment.

I hope they have the RW right in the middle of Ep 9. It better not be the last scene as people will be expecting something.

Yeah would screw up their pacing for next season if they did, although would love it if its the final scene of this season. No one would expect it so soon after the red wedding.

The scene where sansa wont bend down is more annoying than in the books though, and tywin should have smacked jofferey for taking the stool away seeing as he hates his family being mocked.
