Where do we stand in this thread discussing the leaks in context with the books?
Think there is no major issue here unlike in the TV show thread.

I think that is extremely likely. While I would like to see old Valyria, Aegon's Conquest, Dance of Dragons and the Long Night I think that the Blackfyre rebellion makes a lot of sense because:The reign of Aegon the Unworthy leading into the the first Blackfyre rebellion would be my guess.
The reason is in the post on his blog.I dont get why he doesn''t do Dunc and Egg tbh (or however its spelt)
Its a very different tone but its more digestable too,
and they're likable characters
Would it be so terrible to do something totally different?
Rather than beating the same tone, style and themes into the ground till everyone was painfully bored of them
The reason is in the post on his blog.
"We're not doing Dunk & Egg. Eventually, sure, I'd love that, and so would many of you. But I've only written and published three novellas to date, and there are at least seven or eight or ten more I want to write. We all know how slow I am, and how fast a television show can move. I don't want to repeat what happened with GAME OF THRONES itself, where the show gets ahead of the books. When the day comes that I've finished telling all my tales of Dunk & Egg, then we'll do a tv show about them... but that day is still a long ways off." http://grrm.livejournal.com/536859.html
Or it's just ASOIAF? He does a lot of other stuff and idk but to me he doesn't seem to be super slow at those.. so I thougt maybe he just can't bring it all together (in a satisfying way). The whole world knows how slow he is...
He goes through writers blocks like everyone else, but ASOIAF is such a sprawling story with so many characters and pieces that it certainly would be difficult to pull it all together. Personally, based on comments he's made on finishing the last one and working on this one, the fact that it's taking so long seems to me more of a symptom of poor planning than slow writing.Or it's just ASOIAF? Every time this thread is bumped, I keep thinking the next book is out
SoonI know this is a silly question now, but is there really no reported progress on the next book?
Another 10 Dunk and Egg booksHe'll be dead way before he finishes Dunk & Egg.

From my understanding, there are parts of the TV series that the producers have left out that are from the books on purpose. There could be a few things from the books that HBO might decide to show later on in the show. How come there can still be TV spoilers in this thread since TV has overtaken the books?

This isn't a GoT thread. That's TV. This is ASOIAF thread.Theres been nothing new to discuss about the books for 5+ years.
If you dont want to hear anything new then dont go into a GoT thread.
This thread has always had a more relaxed approach to speculation.
There shouldn't be tv spoilers for unaired stuff outside of [.spoiler] tags

I don't mind speculation about stuff that's already been printed or I wouldn't be here. I do mind TV spoilers which could spoil something that's yet to be printed because we all know that the TV writers have unpublished material in their possession. If you want to discuss that, go there.

Think most of us are banned from posting there. This isn't a GoT thread. That's TV. This is ASOIAF thread.

I can read it but can't post. I've never spoiled anything, at least I don't think so, but people were aware that I was a reader and it made them anxious, I guess. Paranoid bunch.Think I survived the ban hammer even though I did post a book spoiler in that thread last year.
I got banned for discussing someone else's spoiler. Haven't even read the books but the conversation was literally 'do you think X will happen' and I said 'no'. Ban.I can read it but can't post. I haven't seen a single spoiler from the TV show. We've already had a seasons worth of spoilers, have you actually managed to avoid that so far?
I'm not that pushed personally but i just dont see how i could avoid the tv spoilers and just ... basically accepted it was going to be spoiled.
I maintain that theres feck all to talk about from a book perspective and wont be for a while though
Only fair then to ban people who post in the TV thread.Think most of us are banned from posting there.
I haven't seen a single spoiler from the TV show.
