Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

I don't think the other two dragons need riders. The last two episodes proved that, as well. In any case, Jon riding one of Daenerys' dragons makes absolutely no sense to me.
IMO I think Tyrion could ride 1, and Bran will warg into 1.

Nah, I don't mind anymore. I think the majority of the good stuff has been and gone, the book readers I've spoken to are about as clueless as me on the direction it's going? It also seems a bit late to be introducing any new players (I was spoiled back in Season 4 about that other Targ bloke).

right, so you didn't openly post a casting spoiler saying he's definitely appearing and then get about five responses saying "I didn't know that".

There are still plenty of stuff left to spoil though. I'm pretty sure that Euron's ride to doom of Valyria will be in the new series and the introduction of the horn will happen at long last.

Nah explain yourself. You're saying i've spoiled something and I want to know what i've done. I don't look at casting information, I don't even look at the fecking episode titles!
I never said you spoiled anything you loony bin, I quoted ff, not you

That was me. When we were discussing about posting spoiler information, I managed to say 'We know Hound is being cast alive, so we know cleganebowl is happening in the last episode' as my defence to posting spoilers :(

The other posters didn't know about the Cleganebowl in the last episode and were reacting to that I believe. But cina maybe right, they didn't even know Hound was casted for this season :(

Ah Tina quoted me, so wondering what the feck he was on about.

So yeah... explain this magical barrier shit to me.

Bran got marked by White Walker, so as far as I understand it he's still marked and given that the Wall is built on a magical barrier if he does walk through it then it would have the same effect as he did back at 3 eyed raven treehouse.

So whats your thoughts on my "Benjen is actually Evil" theory?

Also can someone explain the whole Magical Barrier part? As we've been having a debate about whether Bran is a Key or he's got nothing to do with the Barrier and the Mark was simply to do with the original 3 eyed raven.
We don't know yet about the magic that protects the wall either. It's all speculation.
Anyway everyone seems to think Bran is the key but I'm not sure how that makes sense.
First of the WW invasion started when Bran was still healthy in Winterfell. How could they foresee he would get crippled, then travel north, then not listen to BR thus get marked? That doesn't make sense to me.
Oh and.. they tried to kill Bran, right?

Imo if it's marked Bran who brings down the wall/magic that protects it that's not planned by the WW. Though that would certainly be weird.

It's about as shite as running in the rain when you've got a bad cold.

Well... from my limited knowledge as a tv viewer we've already seen what appeared to be Bran seeing glimpses of the future when he touched the old tree back in Season 4. So if he does have the power of foresight, then why couldn't the White Walkers? It could stand to reason that the White Walkers has the ability to see glimpses of the future (hence knowing about Bran). It's possible right?

Hot Pie might also be a shape shifter and actually morphed to be Drogon. It's possible, right?

We don't know the exact date that the White Walkers started stirring again. It's implied that it had been happening for a few years prior to the story starting.

They could possibly have sensed Brans birth and started attacking then.

I still don't think they are the bad guys though, so maybe Bloodraven had some involvement in their awakening.

Yes, it is possible.

You have to be a greenseer to see the the past and in the books you have to eat the weirwood paste instead of plugging on to the weirwood network as shown in the shows. I'm not certain if Bran ever had a vision about the future. He seems to be able to see through the eyes of the heart tree like the children of the forest.

He had a vision of Cersei blowing up Baelors Sept with wildfire.

He saw the Wildfire at Kings Landing in a vision, so future sight is confirmed.

The Nights King (the show version) was likely a greenseer. He seems pretty magical in the things he do (arguably the strongest character on magic we have seen so far).

Well explain why Bran has the power of foresight (apparently) but the White Walkers obviously can't?

I'm just taking the piss. I don't actually know anything, I read the final book years ago and the TV show is pretty different.

Pretty sure he didn't have the future sight in the books, but the wildfire scenes in his flash could be Aerys and his mad flirtations with wildfire.

Night's King is definitely magical even in the books. He made a lot of sacrificial killings to the Others, lay with a woman who was at best a sorceress, at worst an other and gave his soul to her. That definitely comes with a power, but not sure if it includes the power of greenseeing.

Bran though is clearly special. There has not been a greenseer with skin changing abilities in a long time, possibly never.

Episode 6:

Benjen: "The three eyed raven sent for me"
Meera: "The three eyed raven is dead"
Benjen: "Now he lives again."
Benjen: "When I last saw you you were a boy, a fearless boy, loved to climb the castle walls and frighten his mother."
Bran: "Who are you?"
Bran: "Uncle Benjen... the last letter Jon sent me said you'd been lost beyond the wall."
Benjen: "I led a ranging party deep into the North to find White Walkers. They found us. The White Walker stabs me in the gut with a sword of ice. Left me there to die, to turn, the children found me, stopped the walkers magic from taking hold."
Bran: "How?"
Benjen: "The same way they made the Walkers in the first place. You saw it yourself."
Bran: "Dragonglass. A shard of Dragonglass plunged into your heart"
Benjen: "You are the three eyed raven now."
Bran: "I didn't have time to learn, I can't control anything."
Benjen: "You must learn to control it before the Night King comes, drink, one way or another he will find his way to the world of men and when he does you will be there waiting for him and you will be ready"

First off... how exactly does Benjen know what Bran saw (in red)? Benjen wasn't there? He survives because of the Children rescuing him but they fail to mention it to Bran? Also, the three eyed raven sends for Benjen but again doesn't mention he's coming? Then look at that last line, it's classic manipulation. Reveal that it looks hopeless but he is strong, then tells him he needs to be waiting ready for him. He's manipulating him into going where he wants i.e. the wall.

Episode 10:

Benjen: "This is where I leave you"
Meera: "You're not coming with us?"
Benjen: "The walls not just ice and stone, ancient spells were carved into its foundations. Strong magic, to protect men from what lies beyond it and while it stands the dead cannot pass. I cannot pass."
Meera: "Where will you go?"
Benjen: "A great war is coming and I still fight for the living. I'll do what I can. As long as I can."
Bran: "Thank you Uncle Benjen."
Benjen: "I wish you good fortune."

Er... ok. I cannot pass. Mmm. Watch this scene again, listen to how he's delivering the lines. The long pause after "I wish you good fortune". If this was any other character you'd all be screaming he's Evil but because he's Benjen Stark you all think he's ok and can be trusted. Just watch the scenes again with the idea that he's Evil.
