Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

I'm not at all a book reader (Though I am tempted to pick it up as a casual read at some point), but there has been some internet murmur going around for a few days regarding a particular storyline which was omitted in the show possibly occurring this season.

Now to make my way out of here.

Pick it up as a casual read? Each book being ca 1000 pages?

What the hell do you read when you're not being casual about your literature?

That's why I said casual. I'm not interested in finishing it in a few weeks/months etc so that I am upto speed with everyone else. I'll take my time with it.

Ah, nevermind then. I tend to consider a casual read to be a simple book that most people can plough through.

Been watching through the show again and noticed that Robb and Talisa are the ones who find Qyburn alive after The Mountain abandons Harrenhal and has everyone killed. Qyburn is a twisted feck but I wonder if he's playing the long con on getting revenge against The Mountain and possibly the Lannisters since they command Clegane? Maybe he sees the trial by combat as the perfect time to enact his revenge by possibly drugging up The Mountain before the fight, ensuring he loses?

What works against this theory is that anyone else who assumes command over him other than Cersei probably wouldn't allow him to continue his unethical work.

Very possible. In addition he might be an agent of Varys.

A filler episode but it did need to happen. The Hound is back as expected, and Bron is back too. RIP McShane's character, he did a good job for an episode.

No idea how Arya survived that.

My mate was in it as well. Nobody seems interested though. I could give away a huge spoiler for next week because of it......

Btw, is him that reddit fella who has been giving spoilers after spoilers and proving right in all of them?

They're moving very quickly. Cleganebowl and the so aptly put 'Bastardbowl' are definitely happening sometime soon. It's normally episode 8 which is a big one, right? Hardhome and The Mountain vs the Viper were both episode 8 of the last two seasons.

Either episode 8 or 9. I think it will be 9 personally, that's when Beheading Ned, Blackwater, Red Wedding and Wildlings at Castle Black happened.

Saw this on another site regarding the Arya situation. Thoughts?

It wasn’t Arya it was Jaqen wearing her face

1. Walked like Jaqen, wore hair parted down the middle, threw the coin with the right hand (Arya is left handed)

2. Was too obvious. Arya would have never asked for a cabin. The money was thrown around too casually, even if she was capable of stealing such a sum.

3. Lingering shot of statue on the bridge, maybe sorry to leave. Arya hasn’t been there that long, doesn’t have a particular fondness for the place. Could have stowed away as a cabin boy too easily

4. Jaqen’s life belongs to her. He promised her 3 lives to take for the Red God. He took 2, then she named him as her 3rd. Instead of dying he bargained and agreed to help her escape but then when he left he gave her the coin and told her to come to Braavos. And he gave her the words Valar Morghulis, all men must die. Knowing what we know about their relationship with death there would have been no bargain really. He believes in death

His life is owed to the Red God. No bargain can change his fate and he knows it. He willingly dies in Arya’s place, wearing her face, to fulfill the contract on his own life. He also was testing the Waif who did not fulfill the contract correctly by doing a belly wound instead of killing quickly. Waif is going to go out before he is gone officially. Scenes from next week show Waif running/ chasing possible real Arya

The Arya we saw with the money buying a spot on the ship was actually the waif, setting some illogical trap for Arya. The old lady/waif was actually Arya trying to kill off the waif to gain her freedom. No reason at all for this to be the case as it makes no sense, but what they hell.

The Arya who fell down into the river was actually Jaqen, testing Arya by testing the Waif to see if the Waif would kill Arya for pleasure. But, as we now know, the Waif was actually Arya and Arya was the Waif.

9 is usually the big one. The Mountain and the Viper wasn't the big episode of that season, instead it was the Battle at the Wall which was in episode 9.

Last year I don't remember anything big happening in episode 9, and Hardhome was definitely the biggest thing after Jon's death, though I don't remember if it was in Ep 7 or 8.

On season 1 it was Ned's death in episode 9. On season 2 it was the battle for Kingslanding, while in season 3 it was the Red Wedding.

I guess that Bastardbowl will happen in episode 9, while Cleganebowl won't happen at all this season. The tenth episode has always been about tying things up, and I think that either Danny or The Others are invading Westeros in that season (if not both). That leaves episode 8 for Cleganebowl but simply there is no time for Sandor to somehow get chosen from the Faith, and go from Riverlunds to Kingslanding to fight. I am quite unconvinced that is actually going to happen at all. The entire theory was based on Sandor being a broken but changed man, and being devout of the Faith, so them choosing him as champion. Now, he didn't look changed at all, and definitely not in the end. With McShane's character dead, I don't think that there is any relation now between him and the Faith.

The showrunners have mostly taken a view that we need everything spelling out to us. They don't do subtlety when it comes to central plot points.

Some of their posts are mental, I have no idea how they come to such conclusions.

To be fair, it's easy to get confused when you're just a casual show watcher. I remember being stunned during the Blackwater episode when the Hound and Bronn had a scene together, because until that point I'd thought they were the same character. It also took me about half a season to distinguish between Jon and Robb. When I finished, I read online that Jeor Mormont was Jorah's father, which I thought was cool since it meant they could have reunion. Only problem was that Jeor had, you know, died during that same season. It also took me ages to establish that Stannis and Renly were not Robert's sons, and were in fact his brothers.

Sounds bizarre, but it can be easy to lose certain characters in the mix when you're racing through it and trying to pay attention to everything.

I saw that from westerosi forum and saw that the guy there was right on a lot of things including a detailed description of Osha's death.

I cannot find it now though, and better that way. But the guy knew his stuff and he claimed having been an extra during the movie shooting.

You're joking, right?

I mean not getting that Jorah is Old Bear's son is alright, but Hound and Brann being the same character? And that in the end of the second season.

That was a good episode.

Wonder if Theon and Asha/Yara have already moved to Volantis as the show seems to show them in a free city brothel. So instead of Euron becoming Euron+Victarian, maybe they may have Asha/Yara playing Victarian's role. It's quiet possible they go to Mereen through Valyria.

:D

Sorry, I was too annoyed at people giving out to me in the other thread to comment on this. It's deadly! Your friend must be over the moon.
Yeah he is. He was the Sea Captain that Arya booked passage with. We've been trying for years to get him on it.

No. My guy won't say a word and hasn't to anyone.

Sounds silly, but it's so easy to get mixed up with this sort of stuff. I also thought Daenerys was a whore who Robert had impregnated, and that was why she was trying to flee - since he wanted to kill a bastard who could steal the throne. I thought Viserys trying to be king was just him being delusional.

Ok man, you're silly ;)
