Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Hah, that was epic yes. I was hoping the whole time he'd say something back to his father but it was probably more realistic now. Wonder where they'll go though as there aren't any women allowed into the Citadel.

Quality episode - we know there's a cure if you're killed by a Walker now. The Mad King flasbacks ("Burn them all!") were interesting as well, definitely suggests Bran had at least something to do with him turning mad. And Jaime is finally off to the Riverlands, yey!

Missed Varys, Littlefinger, Sansa and Jon but I think next week is going to be awesome for some reason.

Geez, they spent half an episode on Sam fecking Tarly.

Benjen ex Machina was quite predictable. He was the only way Bran was going to survive there. Martin said that he isn't Coldhands in the books, but then it might have been 'from a point of view' like 'Benjen dying and Coldhands being born'. Or maybe no. I think that one way or another we will see Benjen in the books.

'Burn them all'. I don't think it is a coincidence. Bran made the Mad King mad.

I am getting convinced with each episode passing that Daenerys is in fact the main antagonist of the saga. The Others will join Jon (and Bran) to stop her.

Might just be similar to the way that they basically merged Euron and Victarion/omitted Victarion altogether.

I don't know about that last sentence but the former part is pretty likely. She's also lost her more just advisors and is stuck with shady Daario who continuously refers to her as a conqueror. Her 'epic pep talk scene to a mass of people' has happened at least 5 or 6 times now this show. It's so bland.

I definitely agree with the general assertion that Bran seems to have had some influence on the Mad King going mad, but I'm glad they didn't explore it any further than the brief flashbacks. Handled it pretty well I think.

In all it was a really awkwardly paced episode. Randyll seems to have been cast well but that entire plot arc was really boring apart from Sam taking Heartsbane. Was that fecking Cormac Mclaggen from Harry Potter at the dinner table?

I wonder who will pull the plug on Tommen, because, you know, prophecy and all that. Kevan maybe? Lady Olenna? Cleganebowl is definitely happening, and Benjen is Coldhands? Dragonglass may well the be answer to life.

Dont enjoy that episode at all. Pure fillers.

Why was Dany giving the speech again? They already followed her.
Totally agree, could have moved all the plots along in half the time and actually had something interesting too. Mid season time filler I guess.

Probably more interesting to most TV folks due to Benjen Ex Machina but the book folks saw it from a mile off.

They have two seasons left, and Sam hasn't gotten to Oldtown, feck. Was there any chance at all Randyll fecking Tarly would sit at the same table with a wildling?

The Kingslanding stuff.... Well, at least Jaime fecks off to the Riverlands now. LSH incoming.

I think the show has merged Coldhands and Benjen, whereas they might end up being two separate people in the books? That was quite predictable but they seem to be bringing people back from previous seasons like Edmure, the Blackfish and Benjen like they're trying to bring everything together. Arya, Dany and Tyrion all need to get to Westeros to round it off at the end of the season in time for a White Walker invasion in the north.

I wonder if they do LSH whether they'll call her that or do what they did with the Mountain and keep the original name.

Only one after this, no? I think it's this season - season 6 - then 13 episodes left afterwards. Something like that. I wouldn't be surprised if they split Season 7 into two halves, like a lot of big shows do.

I don't think they'll use LSH. They might feel they're going a bit overkill on resurrections with Jon, Benjen and Cat all coming back from the dead within one season.

The bombshell they'll end this season on is definitely R+L = J. Lady Stoneheart is somewhat likely because the Frey's did explicitly mention the BWB.

I think that Lady Stoneherat will happen now. It made sense to not happen before because they can not pay an another actress (which actually is more respected than the majority of actors in the show and so will probably want more money) for two seasons to basically do nothing.

On the other side, a bit role of Lady Stoneheart was to prepare the readers for people coming from the dead. A bit like to tell them that Jon might not be the same as old Jon when he comes back.

They wouldn't have a clue who Lady Stoneheart was though would they?
Not without scouring the internet and reading fan theories. Which, as someone mentioned in here, definitely seems to be what a lot of them have done.

Don't think Dany will come to Westeros anytime soon.
My current prediction is that she will. On Danny = the main villain of the saga camp for now. All hail the Others, the saviors of Westeros.

It would actually be a very nice thing if Martin in the end makes The Others as saviors and whom we thought is one of the two main protagonists, as the main antagonist.

Just cannot see everything finishing with Danny and Jon joining forces and fighting together to stop the darkness from the world. We have seen that stuff in Lord of the Rings and its million derivatives. GRRM won't make the same ending here, after he created such a complex story.

I think she's destined to stick around in Essos. Don't think she'll turn evil. If the story in the books progress as expected, more likely she'll spend the next book fighting with the Free Cities to abolish slavery anyway.

The endgame of Westeros probably will be an uneasy truce between Jon and The Others.

I think that the last episode made pretty clear that she's going for Westeros. She has now everything she needs to go there.

I think that the end of the show will be very similar to the end of the books. Stories have diverged in small and middle things, but the climax will be the same.

A truce between Jon/Bran and the Others is quite possible.

hate the usage of " the others" term. makes me think i'm reading about Lost again

She's been determined to come for Westeros for 5 books. I think the much touted arrival will be very different, not with a screaming horde and Unsullied behind her.

It's like the house with the red door. She's just chasing things that never were. Martin will probably have her make peace with it and rule Essos. Once she gets to Westeros, it'll inevitably be a battle of good vs evil and making The Others who have been killing humans en masse the good guys will feel invariably contrived.

The fact that Daario has just told her that she needs the exact same number of ships as Euron has promised to build in the previous episode, makes it pretty clear that's the way she's getting home. I can't see four episodes being enough to fit in Euron building his fleet, sailing across the world, losing his fleet to Dany then her sailing back to Westeros. Especially not since she still has the whole slavery issue to deal with in Slaver's Bay. I think she'll reach Westeros at the end of next season, not this.

On the show, you can travel as fast as D&D want. Littlefinger went from the Vale to the North for like 10 minutes.

I think it is dead cert that Euron will join Danny. So her army will consist of Mongols, emotionless Eunuks, army of Iron Islands which seem arseholes even for Westeros standards and the evil Red Priests. Hard to see her being the savior in the end.

Even with Littlefinger's jetpack it's far too much to fit in.

It seems pretty obvious, but still.. :

Now I'm pretty sure that Bran will have a flashback to the Mad King, whilst Benjen or that crying girl will be surrounded by White Walkers. Fire will be involved as we saw with Benjen, and one of them will be shouting 'Burn them! Burn them all', and having us sit through a Hodor-esque scene once more. Atleast that makes sense in my head...

Yep. No other reason to have shown Mad King saying that.

The theory that Bran caused the Mad King (and so the destruction of Targs and endless civil war) seems to be true. On other words, the world would have been a happier place if Jeoffrey's assassin would have done his job.

Poor episode. Sam's stuff was interesting and well done in my opinion and added to his story. Love the fact he's taken a Valerian Sword.. and whilst the Sparrow and Arya storylines are still dragging, both seemed to be better than usual. Danarys though, WTF was that.. cheesy and completely unnecessary.

Season finale will be The Tower of Joy reveal.
