Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Why did Bloodraven said that he has been there for a thousand years? Isn't him basically confirmed to be Brynden Rivers, so his age should be around 140.

Brynden Rivers doesn't exist in the show though, they can have him be whatever they like.

Great episode for most part. Arthur Dayne was amazing.

However, 'The North Remembers' has really been dumbed down to that old woman resistance last season.
I'm convinced the Umbers are playing Manderly's part.

I think we'll have the Manderlys as well. When Roose Bolton spoke of potential threats in the north, he specifically mentioned Manderly, Umber and Karstark. The Umbers will also play a rebellious role I suspect.

No way we're not getting the Northern rebellion this season though. Surely got to happen in some form.

Something that we didn't mention, was the second guy supposed to be Gerold Hightower? First of all, there were supposed to be 3 KG there, but were only two. And second, Gerold was quite old, but that guy there looked younger than Dayne and actually Dayne did all the talking.

I am betting Ned vs Lord Commander on the next flashback. Within the Tower of Joy.

Cannot see it. You don't give Rickon to a psycho, if you're planning something.

In reality, it works well within the universe of the show. Umbers hate wildlings and so they want to join forces with Boltons in order to defeat the wildlings. The other option would have been to fight Boltons (likely they will lose), and if they win go to fight the Wildlings with their forces depleted.

However, it is possible that Manderly's will join Snow. Both Jon and Ramsey needs some army. Ramsey now has one, while Jon has the wildlings which might not be enough, so he will get Manderlys and possibly some lesser houses.

But surely, there is no Grand Northern Conspiracy in the show. It never was one.

I'm fairly sure that guy was Gerold and they just made it two KG. Which works fine.

Yep, Ser Oswell according to wiki. So, Gerold is either cut (if so, why did Master Pycelle just mentioned him in the same episode), or is within the TOwer of Joy.

What is more interesting though, is why Ned always felt that he hasn't kept his promise to Lyanna (promise me!). Always thought that the promise was to raise Jon, but what if the promise was to raise Jon as Targaryan? Ned chooses to not do so, in effect finishing the war (otherwise he would have need to go against his best friend), and while he definitely did the right choice, he still feels that he betrayed Lyanna.

Yep my bad, it was. I'm guessing Hightower's just cut with Dayne being LC.
Nope. Hightower was mentioned 2 seconds ago to have been Lord Commander (from Joffrey while he talks with Jaime), and Pycelle mentioned on this episode that Hightower had a seat on Mad King's small council.

Where did you get this from? From his inner monologue in AGOT, his guilt was from keeping the truth away from Jon, and the anguish keeping the promise caused him over the years, I presume seeing his wife tortured by jealousy and his nephew ill treated by his wife and others.

Yeah, that's interesting actually. Unless it's an oversight, you'd expect they'll include him in some way. I can't see him being within the tower though. That scene will be a kind of slow, poignant reveal, and for it to be interrupted by another fight would seem off.

Could be explained that he went with Rhaegar to the trident, or he stays in KL with Aerys and plays a role there. Should be interesting.

Anyone else think we might see Howland Reed? We know he's a Northerner, he's been established as a character, and if we're putting in Northern lords, it makes sense to put in someone mentioned/seen before, who is a Stark loyalist and is already known.

That's what he means. The assumption is that "Promise me" meant to protect Jon at all costs, but it's possible Lyanna wanted him to know who he really was, and Ned felt like he'd let her down by not doing that.

Possibly, but it can hardly be faulted though. Children talk and it's extremely dangerous for the boy to know the truth from the off.

Ned was in a no win position tbh. He saw Robert condoning the killing of Rhaegar's children, had a bride he inherited from his brother he didn't know he could trust and a promise he must keep from his sister. All things considered he did a superb job, albeit sending Jon to the Wall was a bit unfair on the boy.

Rewatching the Ep, shouldn't they give Daenerys a horse? Only the lowliest of Dothraki walks.

Shouldn't Jon have blood flowing from his wounds once he revived? Or he's un-Jon now?

Bran and the ToJ visions. Isn't it established that you can only see the past through the eyes of weirwood? Or only in the books?

Jon was down with that though wasn't he? or is my mind once again confusing the show with a book I read years ago?

Think that is a book thing, but we shall see in the next book if that is really the case or not I guess.

In the book Bloodraven mentions that in time Bran will be able to say beyond the sight of weirwoods. Not sure about show.

Yea, he asked to go, but he did it under the assumption that he's a bastard and stands to inherit nothing. Ned presumed that he'd be safe there and eventually might become an officer, but still he wasn't given a choice.

The preview for the next episode is not very exciting. I think it's gonna be a shit one.

Seems like Sansa finally reaches Castle Black next week which means she will be reunited with Jon or Jon will already have left (probably the latter). Theon returning to the Iron Islands is interesting as well, I hope there's progress there and we'll be going towards a Kingsmoot, also excited to find out more about Victarion. Khaleesi's arc could be going a bit faster hopefully, I just hope it won't be the dragons who save her yet again.

I'm fed up with everything Cersei-related though, and it's stupid that Jaime is still in King's Landing. They can't sack the city soon enough.

I don't think there's going to be a Victarion on the show mate. They've cut him. I can't get excited about anything related to Danny. It's an awfully dull storyline, perhaps even worse than in the books. I'm kind of intrigued by the possible meeting between Sansa and Jon, although I don't really know why.

I agree on Cersei. There's been zero character development for her in 6 seasons. She's literally the same person she was in the pilot. Possibly even less interesting now.

There aren't actually any spoilers in this. I don't know why I've put the tags.

 Wasn't too sure either but better safe than sorry since it was discussion about stuff in the preview. And I meant Euron of course, my bad.

Still, the ending of last night's episode has already made me looking forward to next week.

I do hope we get Sansa/Jon reunion I hope they don't just miss each other. We know they must meet up because in the first main trailer you see different clips Davos and Sansa at House Mormount.

Luke Roberts played Arthur Dayne perfectly too, he was exactly how I imagined him.

I now also want to see him waving a lightsaber around in Star Wars.

Disagreed completely with that, you can tell he's a Holby City tier actor. The acting was shoddy overall in that scene, but the episode as a whole for a build up episode was good.

I reckon Rickon will be axed soon enough, probably during the grand battle at Winterfell to add even more of a reason to hate Ramsay and whitewash Jon further, when he does end up killing him.
If we talk about Ramsey's friend Karstark, do we have to use the word "alleged" when referring to him being a paedo? Or are we safe to take Lord Umber's word on it?
Can't have regular people being antagonists, can we? They all have to fiddle with kids or torture people.

There was never much love between Jon and Sansa at any time so a reunion will just be a formality even if it happens and she's only going to him as a last resort. Only Arya, Bran and Robb truly had affections for Jon at Winterfell. Sansa always referred to him as an outcast half-brother and there was never any direct dialogue between them in the books either.

I thought the sword fight was horribly choreographed. The Dothraki duels in season 1 were an entirely different tier from this crap.

I think that Rickon will survive this. There has to be a Stark in the end, after all.

The sword fight was brilliant! Dayne was as Dayne as you can expect someone to be.

the question will be, what kind of shape is he in? Will Ramsey try and make him a new Reek (hope not, as we have been there , done that) or just torture the feck out him or keep him safe but use him as bait to Sansa back? OR some combo.

On the other hand, given all they have been through individually, knowing how many family members are dead or presumed dead, they just might be happy to see each other after all. Though at this point, not sure what Jon has in mind to do or how.

He'll play the Stannis part in the show's version of the pink letter. Ramsey will keep him as a hostage, at least until the Bastardbowl, and use him as a bait for Jon and Sansa. He needs a way to provoke a confrontation with Jon and that's why Rickon appeared this episode.
