Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

http://nerdist.com/returning-game-of-thrones-character-might-be-a-huge-spoiler/

The great Game of Thrones fan website Watchers on the Wall is reporting that Paul Kaye–better known to you and I as the wine-loving, flaming-sword-wielding red priest Thoros of Myr–is returning for season six, after not having been around since season three. The member of the Brotherhood Without Banners was last seen bringing his friend Ser Beric Dondarrion back to life and losing Arya Stark.

(Wait! I know you’re excited and having the same reaction we had, but before we get to that this report gets even better.)

Apparently Kaye’s agency touted their clients return for season six on their website, which Watchers on the Wall says confirms reports they had heard about Kaye being spotted filming some scenes for the upcoming season.

Including a report that he had filmed a scene that involved…”hold on to your butts”…a hanging.

Yup! Yuuuuuup. If this doesn’t indicate (finally) the appearance of a certain Lady Stoneheart, nothing ever will. If there is any other purpose to bring back the rogue, guerrilla group thatdoesn’t involve Stoneheart we don’t know what it could be. To also have Thoros come back and help hang someone, without it involving the (no longer) late Catelyn Stark would almost be intentionally antagonistic to book readers.

Now if you aren’t a book reader and don’t understand why this is such a huge deal, we’ve been discussing Lady Stoneheart’s potential appearance in season six (after being sure she’d appear the last two years…oops) for awhile now, so take a second to check out our coverage for a little more context, including why other returning characters might also be indicators of her return.

There was also an interview given recently by one of the folks responsible for prosthetics on the show, Barrie Gower, who said that a storyline that had been cut from seasons four and five was hopefully going to actually come in to play this season. That’s not a bad piece of circumstantial evidence. There were some that thought Lady Stoneheart would appear in the first episode after the Red Wedding way back in season three, and there were those (like me) that were convincedshe’d appear in the final scene of season four, and then everyone who just knew it would happen last year. Having a character that needs to look as though she had been dead for a few days under water, a woman that had had her throat slit, might require some good prosthetic work…

As you can see, we obviously thought/hoped this would happen, and the evidence has been slowly mounting that this will really (really really) be the year it happens.

We’re a week away from the season six premiere, and every time we think we’ve hit peak excitement we get even more amped up.

Interesting, but so far the lady stoneheart character is overhyped.

Also read about some guy appearing just for an episode in this season all but confirming the Hound's reawakening. Pretty sure he won't meet his brother in this season, but another story arc will come to a close there

Leaking-images-idiots or ruining-the-story idiots ?

The second one. Can't go into specifics on here for obvious spoilery reasons as the show hasn't aired, but I mean stuff on the level of how irrelevant they made Stannis' entire arc with last season's hatchet job.

I don't care for this series (tv or books) anymore. I loved the books, and the tv show (up until season 3/4), but feck me GRRM has sapped any hype I had for this.

I see. I have my suspicions that they might start to do these kind of things just to wrap it up. Looking forward to the series to start again but the book-story is far better than the show now. Its impossible for the tv-series format to make justice for the complete book-storyline in 7x10 espisodes.

Lady Stoneheart is a shit character and I don't understand the fuss over her.

Where are these leaked images?

The usual places. You don't want to see them though. They just raise more questions. And make you angry.

Could somebody link me to the images? I'm in agreement with Gol123 above really, it's expected at this point for them to balls it up.

Agreed. Her whole character is just there to show how the Lord of light can revive people in a certain way to add speculation if Jon would go that way, really. In the books she may have some sort of resolution over Brienne and Jaime's plot but having her in the show to kill unnamed Frays or Boltons just seems pointless. Especially three fecking seasons later.

Google "reddit game of thrones season 6 episode 1" and it's the first result if you want the spoiler images. The leak came from one guy who got a French-subbed version of the episode somehow and was leaking screenshots from it onto 4chan, from where it then disseminated to reddit etc. Dunno if he actually uploaded it; plus being on 4chan lots of impersonators were posting horse porn download links etc.

It was an accidental leak which was made available to certain subscribers. Someone claims to have uploaded the entire episode, but as I said in my post above, the size is 1.5gb and I haven't bothered to check if its legit.

:nervous: That place scares me.

There's full synopsis of the first episode on reddit, apart from the images. It sounds shit.

To say the least. Just makes no sense- I honestly think D&D really don't understand the universe they are writing in. That and they won't cover any of the real effects that such an event would happen in the region, knowing them.

It's just bullshit.

I remember reading somewhere that they were only really excited to make the show up until the Red Wedding. I can't substantiate that or even remember when I got it from but it sort of corresponds with how the seasons since have been.

Tbf if I was adapting AFFC and ADWD I probably wouldn't have much respect for their plot lines either. Whole lot of stuff they were right to cut/change.

The problem is the quality of the alternatives they've come up with, especially last season.

About the leaked photos:

1. They should have never changed the Dorne story. By cutting Aegon and Arienne, they basically made Dorne a complicated way of killing Myrcella. With now Prince Doran and his son dying, it makes Dorne completely pointless, so there was no need for this arch.

2. The easiest prediction ever that Mel is old. So, bye bye, Mel's tits. I guess that will be her last act in the show, sacrificing her life to raise Azor Ahai.

Read somewhere that they weren't planning to include the Dorne storyline at all. They decided to do it after seeing how popular Oberyn was with the fans.

It would make sense.

No idea why they decided for it though. Aegon (directly linked with Dorne) is the most interesting thing in the last two books, and Arienne was quite nice. It would have been a good story with those two, but without them it became completely pointless.

Yeah they went for what would look cool and what would cause shocks rather than what would actually make sense or improve the story. They also decided to randomly add a love story between a eunoch and a translator.

They basically wanted Oberyn-lite with the Sand Snakes. It's almost like they skimmed the Dorne chapters and tried to just spot what would be cool without bothering to realise the Sand Snakes only work because they are essentially just background characters and their ridiculousness is never really explored. The thinking is clearly "They sound like Oberyn, let's get them on screen. Forget the rest of it." The moment they scrapped Arianne they essentially admitted they didn't care about the plot. They will do the same with the Greyjoys. Dunno why I spoilered this, but when in Rome...
