Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Balon Greyjoy won the War of Five Kings in the show.

So the Baratheon house no longer exists. Unless someone legitimatises Gendry.

I must be the only person who does not want Mel to revive Jon. It would not be fitting for his character, someone who is so aligned with the old gods being revived by the Lord of Light.

However if the options are revival by Mel or permanent death, then I will take the former any day.

I'll be pissed if Stannis is really dead. His whole storyline would be all for nothing if so.

Looking at the way this season has gone, some predictions for the North in the next book:

Shireen burns in the books as well (as everyone suspected) but it's Melisandre who does it when she learns of the Pink Letter in an attempt to bring back Stannis. Jon was the one who could have prevented the burning but he's either dead or close to it. Her attempts fail as Stannis is not dead. Selyse commits suicide when it happens.

I was so certain Stannis had written the pink letter by proxy and would go on to win the Battle of Ice so this has thrown a spanner in the works. But we know there is going to be a battle so that's something that's immediately different from the books. Still reckon Stannis will win but nowhere near as certain now.

Jon will not be revived by Melisandre. He'll either just be wounded or be revived by warging and/or Bran/Bloodraven.

Yea, good piece of democracy there.

It isn't a democracy so suck it up. In any case it was done because people were getting giddy and spoilers were leaking out and people getting warnings. It was done to save people's enjoyment and others from bannings. Hardly how the Nazi party started. It was a thread locked for under 2 days FFS.

Then Jon can get the feck out of the nights watch as his oath is only until death and he has died so doesn't have to stay with them haha

Hmmm.

Jon unites the continent, becomes AA and removes all walkers, sits on the iron throne and everyone lives happily ever after. The end.

I think I'd hate that even more than him just being straight-up dead.

I hope that never happens in the books. Just a thoroughly cheap way to get around the vows

'You like a good girl but you want a bad pussy. Rawr.'

It feels like a lot of the new stuff has been predictable in some ways, but it's worth remembering that before this season everyone thought that the most likely non-book deaths were Bronn and Grey Worm.

Tommen is the last Baratheon I would think.

So ... 3 drops of blood gets you 3 people across the world killed
Burning your sole heir to death gets you a sunny day ...

good to know.

Anyway i guess stannis loses the battle in the snow so he doesn't have the opportunity to burn shireen to death, which is good.

I really can't imagine Stannis will just get done over so easily by Roose in the books. Would be a very weird end considering the amount of time GRRM put into developing his arc and turning him into the protagonist that he now is. He's my favourite character so I hope he's not in for such a tame and pointless end.

For the season I'd say

The Wall - mostly good
The North - mostly bleh
Braavos - mostly good
King's Landing - mostly bleh
Dorne - mostly shit
Essos - mostly bleh

Braavos has been insanely slow despite tonnes of exposure. The Wall has been okay but that's mainly due to Hardhome. Olly existing and Jon having very little nous for anything besides fighting drag it down to the rest of the show's level this year.

Is Stannis really dead? If yes, what a terrible way to go. It's quite incredible how they completely destroyed a reasonably well built character in just 3 episodes.

Most of the new stuff was shit and it messed with the pacing of the show.

Technically Bronn is dead but since their sense of time is all over the place he'll be fine for as long as they want him to. He'll probably sacrifice himself sometime mid-next season.

I could answer this but I'll leave it since I'm not in the same mood as yesterday.

"I'm a Lannister, suck my cock"

Line of the season right there.

Nah, nothing beats "the dwarf lives until we find a cock merchant".

Actually, that reminds me. What the feck was the point in casting Adebesi in such a small role? The guy has had major parts in Oz and Lost but only gets a cameo here?

I don't see too much more he can add if he's lost his heir, his hand, his troops/sellswords and his ally in Jon. Unless Brienne shows mercy so that he can clear her name, and both characters tie into the Theon/Sansa plot as a way to boost or compensate for the lack of Northern lords.

Because he auditioned for it and fit the part?

Going to miss Myranda. Always had her tits out and they were very nice to look at.

What's average publishing time for books of these lengths? Or in other words when would the book need to be announced for it to released somewhere around April?

I think the book comes out April 2016 and the show premiers its new season April 2016.

This is how it happened with ADWD according to wikipedia:
On March 3, 2011, publishing imprint Bantam Spectra announced that the novel would be released on July 12, 2011. Martin delivered the manuscript to his editor on April 27, 2011.
Seems like the turnaround can be pretty quick.
