Just don't mention anything about the book or speculate about things that your knowledge of the book could have influenced in that thread. It's not just the spoilers but the fear that something someone who has read the books said might be a spoiler which makes the TV thread a shitty experience for non-book readers sometimes. It's not hard.

Yeah I tend to just not use the word "books" whatsoever, hence I cannot use the sentence "Well, in the books...". It's always the safest bet.
I've spent too much time on r/freefolk to ever get used to North Korea regime of Game of Thrones boards elsewhere.
Since the show is about to go past the books and has also deviated so much from the books, I think something more than all book readers stay out or get banned might be better.

Caught up. Actually think this season's been better than the last couple, with storylines outside Kings Landing (the usual highlight of the show), having a lot going for them. The Sand Snakes' acting is just completely though.
It's nothing like the books at this point, as everyone's saying. The characterisation and motivation for extreme actions seem to be completely random and infuriatingly inconsistent. Seems like the story with all its plotlines is just too big for the writers now, who haven't at all been able to keep up the quality of season one, and its relatively contained plot. It's especially annoying that it's become such a behemoth, and how there's barely even an option to skip the next season or two and wait for the books. The Sansa rape and Shireen deaths were all over the media, twitter, facebook etc... I had them completely spoiled before watching the episodes.
Any indication that the next book gets released before season six?

GRRM said in an interview that publishing Winds of Winter before the sixth season airs is a priority to him, and he's even cancelling events to keep working on it, so... I still have hope but don't expect it to be out before say at least March 2016.

The other thread has turned into 1984. It's over the top to lock it. Everyone knows about the rules. If someone were to spoiler it there, what's there to stop them from spoiling in other threads?
Just about all of the spoiling in the past has been due to idiocy rather than malice.

I don't understand why people afraid of spoilers can't exercise some control and just not enter the thread until Monday.Going into threads becomes habit after a while. You just do it without thinking.
Yea but "hey did you guys see that that it was leaked that in the next episode X happens" is not something you post without thinking. If you do then the spoiler policy doesn't do anything for you regardless.
There's been a leak of the next episodes preview, which has some interesting possibilities. Won't obviously post them here though due to possible spoilers and stuff.
It stops others having to see your posts that you didn't think about, though. That's the whole point.

the spoiler policy doesn't prevent them from posting spoilers, it's not like it's hard coded into the forum to detect them or something. Plenty of people have still spoiled stuff in the TV thread despite the policy being in place.
