Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

Season one was clearly the best and I don't think they'll be able to match it again. It was the easiest book to replicate to the screen and they did it perfectly.

That asha plot they added was terrible. The additional Sam-Gilly scenes were also unnecessary especially when there's a plot next season that includes them traveling together. They messed up the Jaime-Cersie scene as well.

All that aside it was a fairly good season. But I do think they are struggling to deal with the sheer scale of the story. It's quite impossible to develop all the man characters in a single season.
Perhaps they should've considered making this season (and possibly the previous one) 12 or 13 episodes. It'd be pointless now though, seeing as there's much less exciting content in the next books.

I don't know. This season feels a lot more generic, 2D villains like the scarfaced cannibals, the Crasters Keep guy who started drinking from Mormonts skull. Added to that less intrigue with reduced roles for Varys and the Tyrells. Seemingly everyone knowing Ayra is alive is a massive change from the book.

Who knows that?

ive really enjoyed it and to be honest I'm happy if HBO end up taking the story on beyond the books

There are some changes and things not done ideally but overall I think its an excellent adaptation....

the scale of books is the issue - the number of characters who have an active role is incredible and to be able to tell such a multifaceted story that is engaging and progresses well is some achievement.

I think the episodes could easily be 90 mins long and we could have had more of a story at the wall, more of characters like Asha, Wildlings etc..

Who knows that?
Brienne does, and seemingly all of the Eryie will too with them walking to the gate. I only just remembered how bad that Asha/Yara scene was now. Jesus

Brienne knows Arya is alive in the books as well. I thought it was ridiculous how clegane announced it was arya to everyone watching but I don't suppose it matters too much.

yeah that was hilariously shite.

Next episode should be amazing. Possibly the best one yet. With all the stuff they have to present, almost every scene should include a major revelation, not just the last one.

Yeah. Stannis, Tyrion-Tywin-Shae, Bran-Bloodraven and Lady Stoneheart scenes should be good. Each one of them really important.

Although people on the other thread will still moan for having only 15 minutes or so of Tyrion.

If they are still moaning after Tyrion kills Tywin, they should be lined up and shot.

Spoony will call it a soup opera while RN7 will say that is shit (both on WUM - as always).

Then aldo will make 158 posts within a couple of hours telling everybody how bad is game of thrones, and many other moaners will complain for having scenes outside of KingsLanding. And Wibble will post how King Steves managed to go to Wall so fast.

As much of a cnut Tywin is, he's still one of the most liked characters in the whole series. So I wouldn't say there'll be many people jumping for joy when he dies. Last episode is going to be a cracker though!

I think the last scene will be of Catelyn and the brotherood, finishing with a shot of her messed up face before it ends. Will be a nice little cliffhanger before the next season.

No doubt, but you can't call the episode boring regardless.

Yeah could be that or could be Bran finding the children and bloodraven (since the episode name is children). On that topic, I think they needed to include more background on that. Nobody really seems to give a shit about Bran's arc in the tv thread.

Neither book readers doesn't care that much for him, despite that we know he is pretty important for the story. He is such an uninspiring character.

Was great on the first book though. Especially his monologues about Robb the boy and Robb the king.

I miss the Direwolves this season. Ghost got a 10 second cameo last episode. :(

I don't care much for the character but his chapters throughout were quite good imo. There's loads of info about magic and fantasy elements of the story as well info about Harrenhall. Hodor, Meera and Jojen make up for him being a bit bland.

I think the problem with those who didn't read the books is that it's too much information that is being summarized to fit into one episode. A lot of details are left out and the book readers can relate more because we are watching the show knowing all the little details already so we can piece it together better and thus appreciate it a lot more than those who are left having to make assumptions based on the limited information. We already know what will happen and we know they story only gets better but they don't :)

Assuming anyone at the Eryie believes their story. The Aunt is dead. Arya has never been to the Vale and likely has never met her Aunt, nor anyone else there. For now Sansa is still considered by most to be Little Fingers niece. I think the news will die (a figurative death) at the gate and never get passed the few guards who overheard and who probably won't believe it anyways.

People are afraid that this theme is too 'happy' for the ending to be LSH reveal.

I'm actually afraid that they won't end the season with LSH. That would be a huge disappointment for book readers.

They might not. Michelle Fairley might not want to come back this season for a single scene, after all. It could be early next season instead.

Not overly bothered, there's plenty of good stuff to put in the last episode as it is.
I'd be shocked if they didn't, considering Lena Headey's stoneheart picture.
Oh yeah, never mind.

I'm not sure if I want the reveal to be at the end of this season because I want to see it, or because I just want to see the reactions to it.

I guess it's possible she was being sneaky and meant "it's coming" as opposed to "it's coming now", but I'm not sure.

I think that will be about Bran finding the three-eyed crow/raven/swan. Fits in with the 'children' and earlier parts of it remind me of the music from when Robb was crowned as king. Stoneheart's scene having a part on the soundtrack called 'the children' doesn't really make much sense.

No I meant since that song is supposedly the last song I.e. ending scene, it doesn't fit in with a scene showing Stoneheart, so people are taking it as evidence Stoneheart wont be happening. But I guess that's just analysing it too much.

Nah I don't think that'll mean too much, not every scene has a soundtrack song in it. Unless they do go for Bran having the last scene, which would be a pretty surprising moment in it's own right.

- No "STANNIS STANNIS STANNIS!"
- Spending more time on Dany then on a vital scene between Jamie and Tyrion
- No Lady Stoneheart

fecking awful adaptation.

Okay calmed down a little bit. I think the non-LSH reveal was partly because the material in AFFC is not as great as ASOS so the show needs to save some surprises for next season. Also, the Brotherhood has not been mentioned at all this season, Beric Dondarrion is still alive (he needs to pass the torch on to LSH) and I think the show will build up to the LSH reveal next season via Freys getting hanged, Arya getting Nymeria visions etc.

That said, they rushed the Jaime/Tyrion/Tywin scene. Jojenpaste debunked? And Bloodraven was not how I imagined him to be. Also, Coldhands confirmed cut I suppose :( They could have pushed the Jon-Ygritte scene back to next season, cut the Jaime/Cersei scene which weren't in the book to save more minutes.

No Coldhands is bollocks. Jojen dying is interesting. I'm not quite sure why they had Brienne and the Hound fight. Seemed a bit pointless, but I guess it added more excitement? Could have had more focus on the North instead of all that. Still, the ending was fantastic. Valar morghullis.

I'm glad Stoneheart wasn't in it. I hate her.

So...

A) No Lady Stoneheart?
B) Guess we can rule out Jojen surviving much longer in the books?
C) Varys is travelling with Tyrion?
D) Tyrion and Jamie part on good terms?

Changes becoming more and more frequent, aren't they?
