Books A Song of Ice and Fire (Books) | TV show? What TV show?

What was Tyrion's beetle speech all about? Seemed a bit pointless unless I missed something?

My take on the beetle story was that it was about the futility in trying to find a reason for random cruelty/death and the pointlessness of trying to convince yourself there's some meaning behind it all. Tyrion has been seeing this stuff all his life and is now under the stone himself, so to speak. So now that he's faced with his own mortality he's trying to find some reason or plan behind what has happened (and is going to happen) but he can't. Basically, he's in this situation just because.

Beyond that, it was really just another scene meant to underline the strength of the relationship between Jamie and Tyrion so that Jamie freeing him makes sense.

I bet that Quenty will get cut from the show. He was completely pointless.

I guess that they'll do the Tyrion-Daenery meeting a bit earlier than in the books and then it will be the Drogon-Daenerys story, but that will be all. Bran's story will finally be interesting with him arriving to the three eyed raven.

Anyway, the most important part of the next season IMO will be the ironborn and the wall. KingsLanding will be really boring with only Cersei there.

Nah I reckon they'll keep Quentyn, it's another good wtf moment for the audience. Build him up as the underdog hero then toast him :D

Isn't Jon just the typical swashbuckling good guy hero in the books? Don't see much difference, I just don't think Kit Harrington has a lot of charisma to pull it off.

Anyone else find Jon Snow a decent enough character in the book but hate him in the show?
I don't hate him but neither like him as much as in the books. There he might be my favorite overall character, while here he isn't near that status.

Given how much stuff happens in the first 3 books compared to AFFC and ADOD, I wonder how they're going to keep the TV series interesting. People are already complaining about Bran's storyline, Dany's etc. but nothing really moves forward in ADOD. I felt like Quentyn's storyline was just a whole waste of time while Tyrion/Dany's storylines don't progress at all.
Been wondering this too, especially when you consider that so far, every scene the show has added that didn't happen in the books(Asha, Missandei, Joffrey&Marg's convo) have all been incredibly cringeworthy/useless, which makes me worry how they'll fare if they have to start including more scenes written for the show.

And they've advanced Sansa, so so much, I wonder what they'll do with her now.

Actress is 18 now. You know what that means.

Someone used Robb's wife's book name. Let the lynching commence.

How I understood it was that it was a bit of a metaphor for Tyrions relationship with Cersei and Joffrey. Him trying to understand why they would love to cause misery and pain for other people that they seem lesser than them and ultimately, despite his best efforts, not being able to.

That's possibly the idea behind it, but it felt so clunky and awkward that I was pulled right out of the scene. Maybe I was just too distracted by the cringe inducing retard impressions that punctuated the whole sequence.

He knows he's under the stone because his sister and father despise him for killing his mother and being a Dwarf. Tywin probably knows he's innocent, but he gets to remove a blight on the family name, and Cersei is so blinded by her hatred that she can't see the truth.

I get the bit about Jamie though.

Just rewatched the episode with my brother (he was on the first watching and isn't a book reader).

I saw his enjoyement during the battle and he almost celebrated when Oberyn put his spear on Mountain's chest. And then the last 30 seconds, it was hilarious watching his face from yoy into sadness. He was very angry with the result of the fight.

Much like my reaction yesterday too :(

With these two images

Lena Headey has been subtly trolling her followers with spoilers, they just don't know it yet, especially the second one

Ah, forgot that was the name of undead Cat.

edit: or indeed that she came back at all... seemed so inconsequential.

I think she'll become more influential in TWOW in advancing the storyline in the Riverlands through Jaime and Brienne. Either that, or she'll just continue being a bitch and hang the lot of 'em.

Excuse my terrible memory, would you remind me if we've gotten any further with Brienne than when she was about to be hung by Lady Stoneheart, at this point in the books? Not much to show with her besides that scene IIRC, seems pretty nailed on they will make up some adventures for her and Pod between their last scene in the show and Brienne's meeting with LS.

I really hope they get Arya to the assassins quick, that may be the best part of next season. I have a feeling the show is going to lose a lot of popularity during next season. Tyrion out of his element, Tywin dead, Daeny making nearly no progress towards the 7 Kingdoms and the White Walkers probably won't make an appearance either.

In the books she catches up with Jaime and is taking him to Lady Stoneheart to save Pod's life.

As regards, her adventures, in Feast before meeting Lady Stoneheart, she met Septon Meribald who gave a long monologue on war and how it affects the small folk, she's caught by Tarly and she kills few men. Guess they could make her appear in 4 -5 episodes with this before she meets Lady Stoneheart.

Okay, thanks, so there should be plenty of story for her next season. I really need to reread the books.

That link doesn't really say concrete, just that because there's an "8th kingdom" there might be an eighth book.

But an 8th book would mean there's a chance in 9-10years, we could still be waiting for the end of the series

An eighth book? Hopefully not cause it might be 10 or more years until he finishes them.

Why can't all writters be like Sanderson and publish ten books for year?
