A serious look at Mauricio Pochettino

Some mitigating factors, Levy being a tightwad being a huge one. He can't continue motivating the same squad season after season without some additions.

But I don't want him at United. Mainly because his mentality in crunch games and record in Europe is really dodgy. Plus, his style of play is overrated. Spurs play decent stuff at the best of times, but they have plenty of games under him where it's a chore to watch them. That, and he coaches the players to foul like thugs it would seem.

How can we take a serious look at this joke? A joke of a coach/manager who hasn't won anything but the hearts of the media.

What are they celebrating now? That they didn't spend any money over the summer? Oh joy.

Kane is still sleeping, Moura and Eriksen carrying them offensively at the moment.

Regardless of how people rate Poch I'll never quite understand why United fans fantasize so much about the downfall of Tottenham.

Always a new thread or dicussion about how everybody is about to leave and it's all about to go wrong... for the past 3 years.
I'm assuming it's mostly about annoying posters who support spurs. Most United fans I know don't care one way or the other about spurs.

They look much weaker without Kane firing. That's a given though, he's the best striker on the planet, any team would look weaker.

The facts are Poch is not a united manager. First things first their style of play is not as good as people think. A few good performances throughout the season thats all. Apart from that they score a lot from set pieces and always rely on Eriksens brilliance. Not too mention the fact Poch has a better squad than ours yet finished lower and won less. His mentality is very poor. When they are leading by 2 goals they still play the same and never change. He is cracking under pressure at spurs he would burst at United. B rate manager. Only manager capable of taking over from Jose and dealing with the pressure of this club is Simeone. Did anyone see the dross hipset Tuchel served up with PSG and the calibre of players they have? We need a real manager and Simeone is the best fit after Jose.

I'm sorry, the majority of the fanbase would hate us appointing Simeone who didn't play nice attacking football brand like Klopp, Sarri, Pep, etc.

Why do you want the press to tear into anyone?

Kane is probably fecking knackered. The guy needs a break.
I agree to an extent he looks tired but if he was that knackered it would have shown pre season ans then they should have given the guy an extra 2 or 3 weeks and bedded him in slowly at the startof the season. Giving the guy a week off now will do him no good.

They looked knackered. If it was one or two players then it's easy to accomodate buy so many players playing in Semi finals and finals didn't even get proper rest.

Hopefully their shit form continues.

Joke of comments here, the players fecked up the last minute today, what a manager can do about it? I am not worshipping Pochettino but wtf guys get a grip, they will still progress from the group stage, they are ahead of us in the prem despite starting slow scoring more goals beating us at home 3:0. Looks like someone was just waiting for things happen tonight, if the players didnt feck up in last 5 mins this thread would have 0 comments. pathetic caf

I wonder if some of the same posters on here criticising Pochettino who's operating with a chairman who's tied both hands behind his back, whilst blindfolding him; are also praising Klopp and Liverpool?

The same Klopp who experienced the same lack of investment at Dortmund to much worse consequences.

It's mostly the Jose lovers with those sort of comments. They can't wait for him to fail to somehow prove their God is best-est

Poch was sold a dummy by Levy this past summer. Not getting anyone in after having an already limited squad and in a world cup year was seriously pathetic. Can't see them having a good season.

The same Klopp who finished above Bayern 2 years in a row?

Spurs have quality in pretty much most areas of the pitch and should be challenging for trophies, truth is there not doing that and thats a slight on the manager to be completely honest!

Exactly, Simeone’s football is more defensive than Mourinho’s and he’s all about grinding out results while keeping things tight at the back. This wouldn’t work with our fan base.

I think Simeone is gone to Inter within 3 years anyway. He’s always been rumored to have a strong interest in managing them. He only spent two years of his playing career there but seems to have a strong attachment to the club.

Using the non spending excuse for Poch while asking Mourinho to do with what he has after a similar poor summer. Contradiction in its finest.

You either give both the excuse of poor summer or not, otherwise it's hypocrisy.

Also love that their players are getting the stick from some for this loss while it's all down to the manager for us here. Some people are actually showing their contradiction several times nows. They are willing to pile excuses for other clubs managers whie they trash such excuses when it comes to their own club's manager.

They have lost a 1-0 lead 2 times out of the last 3 losses. Surely the managers and his management of the game to get them over the line needs to be excused.

Imagine getting annoyed by the fans for mocking another club manager while defending their own though.

That's not true at all and it's easy to check in performance forum.

Rashford - should be loaned to championship
Martial - not good enough
Pogba - is worth 30 million at best
Lukaku - Donkey
No CBs who are good enough
No FBs who are good enough

Jose fans have used every possible excuses and shat on every single player except De Gea.

Also not sure how anyone can compare Spurs' spending with ManUtd's,

And the anti Mourinho are pretty much throwing the full blame on Mourinho for each and every under performing player, saying he can't get the best of anyone. Why don't you try to look at the other side at least ?

Also if you put some effort to look at it, the kind of Pogba and Lukaku are actually starting to get stick from the anti Mouinho supporters as well. In fact, Lukaku for them is used as a means to how poor Mourinho style of play is.

Yeah poor Poch having to deal with the best striker in the world, one of the best playmakers in the league, arguably the current best English midfielder, 2 of the best defenders in the league and the GK of WC winner side, while having the main RB of the England as well.

Who said I didn't? It was not me who said "Also love that their players are getting the stick from some for this loss while it's all down to the manager for us here.". I was just addressing that point.

So you yourself said players are getting criticism too, so your first post was just wrong. Everyone is blamed at Manutd, it's not exclusive to Jose.

Well ManUtd don't play with bunch of farmers isn't it. World's best keeper, England's starting attacking player, Brazilian international, World cup winning Midfielder, Belgium's all time leading scorer, Chilean international who was key in winning 2 copa Americas, 2 youngsters (1 who won golden ball and 1 who was runner up twice in last 2 years), 2 time PL winning midfielder.

Sorry but if you actually put some effort into reading you will say that I'm talking about certain group of fans not you or the whole. I'm talking about the ones who trash these excuses when it's said for Mourinho but are now willing to pile exactly the same excuses for Poch when he loses ( players underperforming, thin squad, poor summer ).

In last page I said they had a poor summer and that's what you get with it but I had said the same with Mourinho so as least I'm consistent. Some are trashing certain excuses for own manager then use them for other rivals only.

Nor did I say we had a poor squad did I ?

But our poor summer would have been a great one for them. We spent 70mil and still expected to regress. What would we say for the team that spent nothing?

Fair enough and yeah there are few posters on both sides who just can't see the middle ground.

re, poor squad don't think anyone said Spurs also had poor squad or team. For some reason you wanted to point out how good their players are, I just gave you a reminder about our team.

I just don't understand how anyone can't see how good a job Poch has done at Spurs with their limited spending.

Top 6 at best team this. I won't love to be in Poch shoes.

Poor summer depends on what you spent to strengthen your weak points. Both teams didn't. We spent 50m on a Herrrera upgrade and ignored the rest.

I never said we had a poor squad but was was pointing their squad ia still pretty good.

He had done a good job, not sure anyone is disagreeing but it's really, really time for him to win something.

That's unwise spending. Poor spending isn't a mitigating factor like no spending.

Just caught the game. Spurs were dominating for most parts and had the better chances, they just failed to convert them. Surely it's the players' faults? I'm not looking at stats here, just judging by actually watching the game.

Spurs lost because of a wonder goal and a defensive lapse in the last 10 minutes of the game. Judging by some of the posts on here, why is Poch suddenly a crap manager again?

It's still a prety poor summer in either case imo.

Levy definitely has a big part of the blame for this seaaon as I said previously. You have a shit window and you get this. You need continuous improvement.

No one said their team is bad, but yes, they do not have the depth that some of the competitors enjoy. You make half the things up in your posts and then respond to them. You did it in the first post, and then did it in this one too.

As for the, they have this best and that best, I do not know where you got that from. Besides Kane and Eriksen, they do not have players who can be categorized as the "one of the best in the world".

Besides that, your personal animosity with Pochettino is quite hilarious. Steal your girlfriend?

Care to tell us what depth the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal.. etc have in their squad if their top player is injured or underperformed ? Which great players are resting on these teams bench ?

Only City have any kind of good depth in the league. The rest are similar.

The bold part though.

You clearly have nothing to say and is just willing to go the insults route instead to make it personel. Seen it multiple times before.

I think the team is often overrated on here and their depth is certainly a problem, also doesn't help that the bottling mentality seems to be deeply ingrained in this team by now which to an extend might be directly related to the fact that if their best players have to practically play all the time they will get more tired towards the end of games than players who have the chance to rest every now and then.
