A serious look at Mauricio Pochettino

I'm not just saying this for obvious reasons, but he is exactly what your club has been calling for since Fergie left. From my own observations it seems to be "keep Pogba happy" and the team performs, Ole seems to have united, United.
It's been 3 games.... We'll see how we get on against your lot in a few weeks.

Good grief, this calling every lost game a "bottle job" is tiresome. And lazy. And stupid. And it's especially stupid concerning teams, like Spurs, who don't park the bus and set out to win every game, which is we why we've not drawn a single one in the league.

Hearing Poch's latest press conference, he sounds as though he intends to stick around at Spurs for a few more years.

Article below with the quotes. Basically saying he's ambitious and his objective is to win the Premier League or Champions League with Spurs. He talks about it being the clubs ambition too. Could be an indication that he seeking to believe that's what the club are seeking and if so they need to back him better financially.

Yeah pretty good indicator and have thought from the beginning that he will stay, of course anything can happen.

Clearly If Spurs are to challenge for any major titles with or without Poch, they would need to spend Big money to improve upon their current team. Since Spurs are now consistent Cl team, IMO getting bargains will become harder for Spurs and selling teams will now demand more money for their players (United prices). Do spurs have that kind of money after taking into account cost of stadium or are they likely to go Arsenal's root after their stadium was built?

Spurs ain't winning the league or the CL without huge amounts of luck. Liverpool looked clueless at the back until they got VVD and Allison for record breaking fees. Even then this was only possible due to the Neymar transfer fallout, leading to Barcelona getting fleeced for Coutinho and Dembele.

They have basically been shafted by the oil clubs, because they destroyed the market for PL clubs who have to pay premium prices for top players now. Then you have Woodward who actually wants to pay more because he thinks it makes you marketable. Arsenal fans were delusional about this for a while because they were told by the CEO that they could compete. Now they realise that the fees and wage packets they give will always be lower than United and the oil clubs.

I dont see anything in those quotes that rule out a summer exit personally. Until he has an agreement with another club of course he has to assume his future is with Spurs

In a way I like the fact that the best clubs in the premier league are starting to settle down with managers. It’s nice to have continuity and for individual clubs to build an identity. I think it adds to the character of the league, and harks back to the old days when it never felt like the likes of Wenger and Fergie would leave. Ideally we need to find our own manager of this ilk. It seems Poch May remain at spurs for a while and likewise Klopp at Liverpool. Pep I am not so sure of.

yeah true, and I don't know why he needs to justify it anyway it was only 10 minutes

Was probably a direct question. I'm sure it can be read as disrespectful, but I'm sure Pochettino only meant to respect the competition and the home fans.

What a load of crap, so he’s willing to risk his top player at the most crucial time of the season just to show respect to a handful of people, when he’s battering their team 6-0!

Yeh, very respectful.

More hits than misses I’d say.

Overall yes, but some big money players(for Spurs) have been misses. Janssen the main one that springs to mind. But his other big money signings Son and Sanchez have been great. For a young CB Sanchez has been good and will only get better.

I'm sure there's a kid or two who were happy to see the England captain play live.

I thought it was kind of classy, game was secure sure. I doubt Kane got out of second gear for the 10min cameo though. Kids would have loved it, he even scored in that short time he was on the pitch.

I didnt see the game but some big names played, Alderweireld, Alli, Lucas, Son. That is more than I expected, too much for Tranmere to deal with.

Definately, nice gesture by Poch. How do Spurs fans feel about it though? Do you see it as an unnecessary risk or are you not bothered?

Maybe Kane said he wanted to play. Regardless, we respect the manager's decision.

It’s the most non story of all non stories, football hasn’t half become a lot of media bollocks. All this *he could get injured*, he could get injured any time in training, or shooting a media campaign.

Oh please. Kane is built like a tank and they were leading so not like they were gonna break his leg or something.

I think it was pretty classy. Like has been said before, a lot of supporters must have been delighted to see the England captain on their pitch.

Also, that presser sounds good for Tottenham. The way I read it, he's saying 'give me money to spend according to our ambitions, and I'm gonna stay'. Levy would sell that stadium all over again for transfer funds than let Poch go to us.

Well, let's hope Ole comes good. Beating Spurs would be a nice start.

I think people having a pop at Poch re Kane playing for a few minutes, really are scraping the barrel.

Harry, if walking through a park, would join in a kickabout, he loves playing so much,
the game was finished by then,
if I was a kid, I would of loved to get a chance to see Harry live.

I agree it's a non-story, but I still think it was not a good decision to risk Kane, especially with Son soon to be absent and some big games coming up. Yes, he could get injured in training or shooting a media campaign, but the risk is much less than even during 10 -15 minutes of a competitive match.

Tranmere manager speaking about Harry Kane coming on at 1:30.

It's the FA cup not a friendly team between the u14s of a couple of private schools.

If we wants to win that game 7-0 and get Kane a goal that's fine.

Risking your star striker and club talisman in order to please a few Tranmere fans is a very noble act indeed. If a little risky.

I wonder how Poch would have approached that interview had Kane picked up an injury during his 10-minute cameo.

It’s a nonsense question, you can question everything if you want but at the end of the day it’s pointless. It’s like asking how would United fans feel if OGS had lost every game since he was appointed.

I felt it was classy and I don't understand this risk nonsense. Tottenham play football matches and Kane is their no.1 striker. He should always play and there is no safety in football. Picking your games because of "risk" does not compute

Why is Son soon going to be absent?
