A serious look at Mauricio Pochettino

The media have predictably been trying to sell our best players and move our manager to other clubs just as they have every year for the last 5. You guys complain about anti-utd bias in the media should try being a spurs fan. It's fecking infuriating.
With success comes attention. Deal with it, just as Arsenal, United and Liverpool fans have done when the Spanish teams come along.

Oh I've been dealing with it for years. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Ok mate. Hope you come back to me next season when we still have our best players and our manager intact.

I’m not indicating it’s a done thing.. I’m saying it’s what happens in football. Not one of you lot would have kicked up a fuss when the media were linking Poch to your job and now because it’s happening against you you are crying like bitches. It’s what happens, it isn’t “anti spurs bias” from the media, it’s called a very good manager who has done very good things getting linked to a bigger club.

Its a bit silly coming on to a United forum to complain about negative media attention when we've had Pogba, Beckham incidents, Ronaldo/Rooney incident, DDG to failed transfer to name but a few. Your negative press is nowhere near as bad as United's, period.

My point is that it's not just now, it's been the same shite for years and every year nothing happens.

We had the same with Ronaldo and Madrid.. at the time we were far more successful than the Spanish wankers on the pitch but eventually the lad left. The same will eventually happen with Poch.

Surely a United forum is the worst possible to come and complain about your manager being linked to us..

It's like me going a Madrid forum during the peak of the Ronaldo and De Gea saga.

We are not looking down on Spurs. We are just being hopeful..we might end up successful or not. That's football.

I really don't understand how a media who had no idea that Mourinho would get the sack, are suddenly "in the know" about the next permanent manager.

What old chestnut? I didn't say it is impossible to make informed predictions did I? I said it is funny when people make cast iron statement as if they're fact or pass off their opinion as if they're facts.

You said the level we're at now is our ceiling. I merely said that you don't know that and then gave 3-4 examples, all of them actually related to Spurs specifically about how certain things which have come to pass would have been laughed out of the room 5 years ago. I didn't give some abstract examples about Serie B or the Emirati league.

Poch is 100% going to Man Utd or Poch is 100% going to stay. Both definitive statements by people who don't know the man and both equally foolish.

That is pretty much the crux of it.

And so many things have happened in the last 5-10 seasons that would have been laughed at 5-10 years before that. They are not exceptions and are by no means rare.

The definitive nature of my post was solely because this is an Internet forum and I can’t be arsed couching every statement in line after line of caveats that any sensible person would take as read at the time of reading.

I am baffled by the reaction of some Spurs fans in here who seem to be knowing the deepest truths inside Pochettino's mind. Glaston is arguing the case as if Pochettino to United is against the laws of physics and it is inconceivable that it may end up happening.

The truth is none of us know any better and the media will keep reporting it until Poch says something conclusive or we approach another manager publicly.

Either way, I am going to quote all of Glaston's cock-sure posts if Poch ends up coming here and post it here for everyone to laugh at. Maybe even start a "Let's all laugh at Glaston" thread.

Let not worry about whether he’d choose to leave for United or not, let’s focus on our current manager who’s already won more than Poch.

Would be even better if there wasn't a Glaston to laugh at.

Can someone tell me why the new Tottenham stadium is a factor? We’ve got a bloody good stadium ourselves (which is bigger and has a feck load of history) so I don’t get why that’s enough to make him stay.

This is a team that didn't spend any money and have years of underinvestement behind them.
Fecking outstanding manager.

The briefs are likely coming from Pochettino's camp. He is in a good position now, wanted by both Real and United while Spurs are desperate to keep him. Leverage.

Anyway, its' good that we have Ole for now and are being linked to another manager whose team can score 5.:)

Think it’s just exciting times for the club and many managers would want to be a part of it.

But this is no different to say, Wenger at Arsenal in 2007.

Underinvestment will hurt Spurs when the season comes to a crunch. I'm sure Pochettino relishes the challenge, but at the same time Levy probably expects too much of him to be some sort of miracle worker.

It's going to be fascinating to see what he does with a transfer budget as big as ours. Can't wait.

Two points off an excellent city side that have spent millions more than Spurs.

Maybe someday he can make that step up to the highers echelons of management by winning that vital prize that separates the likes of Roberto Martinez from other mere mortals - the Carabao cup.

Yea, he manages to get the best out of average players and the bread crumbs they give him at Spurs.

Just imagine what he will be able to do with already made top class players. Factor in as well how he will transform players like Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Chong and so on into world class talent.

I really dont think he will leave Spurs

Neither do I, he has a fantastic thing going at Spurs and has great job security. Doubt they will complain even if they drop out of top four any time, and with us there is just too much uncertainty.
