90's Serie A - Draft Thread

Beppe Signori for me.

Signori was the Capocannoniere in Serie A for three seasons in the mid 1990s; 1992/93, 1993/94 and 1995/96, as well as top goalscorer in the Coppa Italia on two occasions; 1992/3 and 1997/98. Signori never got the plaudits he deserved I don't think, maybe because he didn't play for any of the big three in Juve, Inter or Milan. All in all, 188 Serie A goals (the vast majority of them scored in the decade we're focusing on) tells its own story about the diminutive striker.

Not really. We can think of something. For example, we draw all the teams and put N.A. as the 16th team at first. Then, out of the 7 losing members, then one who lost by the least amount of votes or vote percentage would face the one who drew N.A. in the draw and the winner of that would be the last quarter finalist.

Sounds a bit cheesy yes but I'm done with running after people with PMs.

My second pick is Roberto Mancini.

Mancio was as elegant a footballer in Italy during the 1990s. A prolific goalscorer who often played as a striker but his best position was as a no. 10 in my opinion. He had a fiery streak also, and reveled in confrontational situations. Serie A Footballer of the Year in 1997, and Italian Football of the Year in the same season. Played in the Italian team who finished third in their home World Cup, and winner of one Serie A and seven major cups in the decade we are discussing.

I'll be honest, I was tore between this pairing and another, but other posters' picks forced my hand for Signori and Mancini. Pretty happy though, they were immense in the league throughout the decade.
