my first pick is Walter Zenga

Inter's goalie of the 1980s and early 1990s, Zenga was Italy's No. 1 at the 1990 World Cup. He recorded five consecutive shutouts in that World Cup. He won a Scudetto and two UEFA Cups with Inter, playing in 328 Serie A matches.

He led the team to a third-place finish during which he set a record of five consecutive clean sheets, and a total of 518 minutes without conceding a goal, a record still standing

Ortega was mostly known as the best dribbler in the world as well as his lobbed shots. Over the years he has managed to make a name for himself for his incredible pace and his impeccable ability to turn around dead ball situations, apart from his impressive dribbling skill.
 
KM only gave me two names: Ince/Di Matteo. So that's us stuck for the night.

How's so? Voller was already a great player when playing at AS Roma in 1987-1992. He's a regular Germany team (participate in 1986, 1990, and 1994 WC), and won WC in 1990 whilst made WC Team of the Tournament. Then in 1991, he lead Roma to win Copa Italy and UEFA Cup (runner up) and score in total of 24 goals that season (10 goals in UEFA Cup) (http://www.footballdatabase.eu/football.joueurs.rudi.voller.4563.en.html).

If like other posters listing their players accolade in different league before and after their time in Serie A, the list of Voller achievement would be a lot also.

@ isotope, voller was 1 of the greatest strikers of all time but them last 2 seasons at roma wernt great seasons from him.
That's y I asked if people would judge on the player himself or how he actually performed during this timefrain in italy
 
Yeah. It's hard to tell though. Zenga at 90's only won UEFA cups, just like Voller. Zenga's reputation is more to do with his pre-90's era, if we want to be pedantic. Then if you just judge by league goals, Weah best goal tally was 13 goals, more or less similar to Voller. Klinsmann league goals in Italy wasn't that much different also.

If you see his league goals, Voller's '91 league goals number was not that much different with his other years in AS Roma; but he was still a regular for Germany's team, and a star in WC '90. Then he scored 10 goals on their way to UEFA Cup final in 1991. Not to mention, he's still 30/31 y.o., which is considered a peak age for striker at that time.
 
I'm not talking about stats that could be foumd on wiki, I'm talking about how he actually played at the time from my own knowledge.
George weah was 1 of the best players in the world at the time n zenga was still one of the best keepers probably the best itailan from 90 to 93.
I still rate voller tho, he just wasn't rhe superstar he was during them couple of years in my opinion
 
You could be right, stretford. Maybe my memory was just clouded with his 90's WC performance, when I picked him.
