I'm thinking of playing a similar formation. Like your Italian core. Van Basten is obviously your star man. Bergkamp wasn't good in Italy but if you can pluck 2 more good midfielders out the bag, you'll be strong.

Still think Bergkamp is an ineffective pick in this draft.

A good defence but it is undermined unless you manage to get a good goalkeeper.

You need to think carefully about who you put next to Berti, the right balance in that area is key.

Donadoni and Van Basten = :drool:
 
So what would be the best formation to utilize Stankovic, Seedorf and Nedved? All 3 are extremely versatile and can fill in almost every position. What I am thinking is :

I know Caniggia can also be played as a number 10, which is probably his better position. I that case, it would be :

First one is better, particularly considering the skill set of your full backs. Some might say you won't get enough goals though, and they would probably be right.

I wouldn't have picked Caniggia if I were you..

Trust me, I took ages to decide that and I was sure that whoever I go with from my list, would end up being the wrong choice. :lol:

So that settles it then, need another striker.
 
Canniggia at his best as a #10? Is that true? I thought you could perhaps go with him out wide utilising his pace and offering a direct threat complementing Nedved's very different threat.

A raging coke head will never be a great choice, unless his name is Maradona!

In all seriousness though, he's a good pick, such devastating pace, but like you said, I consider him a winger or a forward rather than a striker.

You can get a pretty good diamond going on in midfield and have width provided by the full backs and Caniggia. Add a good goalscorer, there are still a few left, and it will look good...
 
This is a good time for everyone to share their views on other teams, as that would make it clear which area needs more strength for the 12th pick.

Yeah. Voller is an enigma. It's just he's a good experience center forward, aside of his goal game ratio.

I was thinking about moving Gullit to CM, but it is hard to get good RW on this late of game, and it looks more threatening with Gullit up front. But I'll definitely give the eye on it.

I guess Zidane can play wide, but can Francescoli? In fact I had this convo with a bloke from Uruguay in the mains during the nationality draft, as I wanted to pick him, but he told me that he wasn't the sort of player who would be effective out wide. A proper number 10.

It's just the length of their names that makes it look like they are out wide, they aren't. They'll be playing number 10 roles with Zanetti and my LB providing most of the width. Almeyda or my other CM can sit when the ful backs are forward to keep the defence stable.
 
Voller and Bergkamp are going to be two of the worst players on the pitch, no matter who they play, because they weren't even consistently good. Bergkamp actually scored 25 goals in his first season, but 17 of those came in the cup and Europe. In their four seasons in 90s Serie A they scored 29 goals, combined. Ruben Sosa scored 29 goals on his own even if you ignore his 20-goal haul in '93. There's still one or two players who scored over 20 goals in one season.

You need some direct pace at the very least Fergus'son. Teams have played without wide players before but without pace? You need a Kaka-type in there if you want to go for another #10.
 
Fillipo Galli:
Very consistent and versatile defender for Milan. Had a great on field understanding with Baresi.
Was part of great Milan sides and was excellent and pivotal in '94 final when both Baresi and Costacurta were suspended.

2nd pick:
Daniele Massaro
Was top scorer for Milan in 94 Serie A winning season. Also played as a left winger, which is handy as I need a left winger. Scored 2 goals in champios league final.
 
I pick Asprilla, voted by FIFA as 6th best player in the world in 1996 following his season with Parma.
