I pick Sergi.
I think he was a thug. Most likely to get sent off after Materazzi of the players picked. It let's down his game. Had he had a better head on him he would have done better but Uruguayan mentality is a bit like that I guess. It's war to them.
Football is our way of going to war with Brazil and Argentina and have any chance of winning
Oh I understand that. I enjoy the Uruguayan national team. But split them up and Montero and Lugano and Dario Rodriguez and Sorondo don't look as nice. They play a bit differently with Uruguay. They're still hard but you don't want to get sent off and miss a game so they tone it down a bit.
Why? I don't think Dan would want to pick Emerson ahead of Makalele.
Yeah I'll just take Makelele. Or Makelelinho as he will now be called
I've updated the text a little bit
Thinking about tweaking my tactics a bit. People didn't like that there wasn't a man on Rivaldo, despite United playing that way every single time and no one has ever complained about that, so i left Petit to deal with Totti. Frings and Senna are similar players but Frings moves around more. Not sure thought if I'll change to this or keep my tactics as they were.
Considering changing my formation for the game vs Rood to something like this:
I don't see his right side as much of an issue so playing Solari as a wing back could be good there, problem is he haven't played much there - so might lose votes just due to that.
Van Bronckhorst in there to mark Rivaldo basicly, not giving him a chance. Salihamidzic is moved a bit back to counter the brilliance that is Roberto Carlos.
Neved will play a free role, Baraja will try to get to Guardiola and hassle him as soon as possible(when Rood is on the ball), similar to how teams approach Xavi.
What do you guys think?
Cling Bak wins so the group finishes as:
1. Cling Bak
2. Brwned
3. Gio
4. Jayvin
You were both mulling over changes so once it's decided we'll go ahead.
What a difference these final standings make. Cling has a wealth of defensive midfielders to improve his key weakness. Brwned misses out on first pick AND Overmars or McManaman as options (and how good would Henry be where he has Recoba!).
Ouch!, that must hurt.
Cling's epic win today could be one of those results where you just pick up a momentum that makes you unstoppable.
Missing out on Henry was something I'd planned for, getting second pick wasn't! Especially when we're after the same kind of player...it's fairly clear Cling will pick Vieira then I'll pick Davids, I think. Would've preferred it the other way round to some degree, but at the same time Davids offering that width on the left when I'm playing a narrow formation might not be the worst thing. Davids and Mendieta flanking Pirlo with Valeron at the other end does make quite a handy diamond. An Ayala-Ferdinand partnership's very tempting though...might steal him first before Cling gets his hands on him. Or Toldo behind that defence...
I reckon Dan has a realistic chance if you go into the game like that.
Cling, you pick one, then Brwned, then you again. You can pick from EITHER team, i.e. you could pick two from the same team.
Group winner gets to pick one player each from the two eliminated teams to add to his squad, followed by the group runner-up's turn.
I think Cling should pick Davids and Mendieta myself. That leaves you picking up Vieira and Ayala.
Probably.
You will continue to have this problem with people not seeing any width in your team and not rating your front three as much as you do.
I don't intend to have a front three any more, Recoba's just not picking up the votes so we'll go for just Larsson and Shearer up front.
Right Cling assuming you pick Davids first then I pick Vieira. Or vice-versa. So feel free to go on ahead with your next pick.
Right so Cling's picks:
Vieira
Mendieta
My pick:
Davids
Options are Ayala, Claudio Lopez or Toldo, what do we think? Ayala too good to say no to?
Surprised Cling rates Vieira ahead of Davids, particularly with his shape. Oh well...
When do I need to post my team by?

Your next pick would really be down to what your new team will look like. Maybe you need a certain type of player to make it work.
Looking at what you have now I would have gone for López. He is criminally underrated on here, I would suggest him but you may end up with a situation where neither him nor Recoba are getting you any votes.
Ayala is a sound choice, don't think people care much about keepers.
Then how should I go?
I wanted two from Vieira, Davids and Mendieta. All three were World Class, so it didn't bother me.
I'm a bit confused by the rules though. If I can have two from the same team my above tactic doesn't really work.
i.e. If you can't choose two from one team and I choose Davids, if Brwned takes Vieira I cannot have Mendieta.
The rules are simply not clear cut. They should be in the OP.
