2024 U.S. Elections | Trump wins

I have to give him credit for that - he kept his real name, unlike Nimarata Randhawa, who chose a different persona.

She uses her middle name Nikki, which probably happened well before her political career as its an easier name to say, especially in the south. Her last name is obviously her married one.

I believe Newsom is a much better debater than the robotic Ron. If I were Ron, I wouldn't participate in, let alone promote, this.
His ego won't let him, Newsome will wipe the floor with him

In the US, its a weird name. As opposed to John Smith or the like.
Sorry but the US is full of weird names that make Vivek look sensible, who the hell calls their kid Tesla, or Fanta, or Espn, then we get to Nil, Boy, Son, Girl, Abcde - seriousely - people are legally naming their kids wuth these names

Played high school football against a guy named Pepsi.

There used to be an annual knockout tournament that did the rounds online showcasing the absolute worst/best names the US had to offer.

Never seen that but I bet there were a lot of entries!

In Latinamerica there are plenty of USNAVY names (pronounced with spanish phonemes). some people say that is because they see the boats and they think is a name, some people say that is because the mother had a 1 night fling with a navy soldier, got pregnant and put the son the name of the father...that was wearing on his shirt. US NAVY

Please can someone confirm this as true  ? (not saying you're lying, just not sure if you're joking).

Used to know a guy who's government name was "King". His little sister? Princess. (Tbf they were born during/right after civil rights movement).

Because a lot of people still think innocent until found guilty, you need to understand that for some, voting Trump is because he's not Biden (or a Democrat) but they'll draw the line at voting for an actual convicted criminal

I guess, but if you think that dems are so bad it "forces" you to vote Trump, the next step, rationalizing voting for a convicted criminal, is just inches away imo.

I personally don't think Trump loses any real support over convictions, but lets see.

USNAVY is totally true that there are plenty. About the one night standing pregnancy history, to be honest I heard this history just a very few times so I don't know if it is true but if is not, I don't wanna know :p

Yeah Biden isn’t there anymore. He looks senile in short scripted media appearances. Imagine him in an actual debate.
Democrats gonna fumble again

Trump keeps skipping his, and he was the one skipping a debate vs Biden last time.

How about that?

Debates don't matter, Clinton won all 3 and look how well that worked out for her.

What matters is that there's a widespread public image problem for Biden, which the Democrats have let festered for the last 4 years (partly because it's true), and now more than half of the population find it to be an issue big enough to consider not voting for him.

Well, because if it is true, there is no way around. The only way would be constant appearances to show how sharp he still is but wont happen because he is not most of the time. He surely will have plenty of lucid moments but that would be what is expected of the POTUS, but the more he will be exposed during the president campaign, and he will not get any better in 1 year to the elections, the more will be noticeable. I hope they stocked enough adrenochrome from babies because he will need it. It works for that, rite?

I do not know the reality of the situation but the perception is definitely that Biden is becoming more and more senile while Trump is still the same level. Obviously a lot of this is due to media pedalling this narrative. Every time I see Biden he doesn't seem to be all there at all. While Trump is still his vile self. For most people it wouldn't change which way they vote but it might keep some people at home.
Another factor to throw in to the mix is abortion rights. People will be incentivised to come out and vote to not have this right taken away. I don't know how it plays out in the end with so many factors but Biden looking fragile as he does surely can only be a negative.

Trump is the same level as what / when? 2016?

Is it too late for Biden to drop out now though? Not much time for a fresh candidate to build up enough momentum IMO.

Fair enough but I don’t see the point in sticking with Biden. Get someone new in who can beat the dementia allegations and winning against the batshit Qanoner would be a breeze imo

There are millions of people who will never ever vote for the other party no matter what, on the GOP side there are some that will not vote if Trump is convicted because that's a line to far and they won;t vote under any circumstance for Biden

Feck, Biden seems old. Is old too, but seems really, REALLY old. Horrible optics at the moment, and will probably get even worse over the next 12 months. He'll get smacked whoever he faces in the debates, as the man can barely form a coherent sentence.

I'm now convinced Trump will win, unless they switch horses fast. Was confident in a Biden win until recently.

I think it's unfair to say he can't form a sentence, but yeah, he seems really old, and there is no doubt that this is the prevailing perception now. Somehow Biden's mental faculties are seen as a much bigger problem than Trump's, but really they are not. The problem is, that the narrative is really going to negatively impact Biden as things stand.

If I was American, I'd still have absolutely no problem voting for Biden, if the other option was Trump. Obviously, you vote for a person, but in reality it is just as much about which people are placed into government as a result of who get elected president. Imagine what kind of people Trump would pick to head the Department of Labor, the Department of Energy, the Department of Education, the Department of Justice, etc., and what those people would do. It's a no-brainer, even if Biden ends up having to sleep 16 hours a day.

It takes a certain amount of selfishness not to consider stepping aside. Much like RBG, Biden won’t suffer any personal consequences.

I think the Biden camp is firmly convinced that fear of Trump is enough to get him a second term, somewhat regardless of Biden's own limitations. Polls this far out before campaigns aren't really that instructive, as can be seen by going back and looking at who was winning at similar points.

I don't think you can argue that either the escalation in Gaza nor war in Ukraine are Biden's fault, yet both create such significant negativity in the media that it will flow through onto him, as President. By all typical metrics his administration has done an excellent job on the economy and employment, while also passing some historic bills. I think those competing forces would have him broadly in the lower end of incumbent Presidents at this stage. (who almost always win)

But, he's also very old. And there's a dedicated media infrastructure desperate to point this out, even while his likely opponent twice in a week forgot who was President, in public. There's nothing Biden can really do about his age, other than resign. If Harris weren't historically unpopular, I think that would be the decision his team would make, but unfortunately she would do even worse than he would. And starting a primary now could bring very real electability problems to any eventual candidate, even if there was an obvious front-runner, which there isn't.

I think stepping back, the DNC is basically playing an 8 year game here. Biden should be able to take Trump just purely on how f*cking nuts Trump is going, and how much of the independent vote he's lost. Trump's popularity has to wane once his statements (like locking up his rivals in camps) are actually the main story again. He's benefitting from the Hargreaves disorder at the moment - getting better because he's not as visible. Couple that with the anger on Roe and for sure Biden could win again. Then you have a clean slate for Whitmer or Newsom or whoever next time.

Will it work? I'm not sure, but I feel like that's the situation. And that some of the smartest people on Earth undertand the implications of a second Trump term, and hopefully would act within their power to choose the best path against that.
