2024 U.S. Elections | Trump wins

The good news for anyone not in a swing state, is they can probably sit this one out and it won't affect the outcome of the election. AZ, NV, CO, GA, NC, MI, WI, PA, NH, and possibly FL because of abortion, are the only states where voting will truly matter.
Yes, that's true. As you know, I live in a very blue state, so I can just sit this election down.

But, I can't, Raoul. I can't look in the eyes of my kids and tell them that I didn't exercise my constitutional right to reject someone who threaten American democracy. Democracy/Institutions is the main issue for me, well ahead of others.

As a non-citzen I can't vote, if I could I'd be in the same boat being in Missouri

Especially if you have daughters. Conservatives would prefer a woman marry their rapist instead of aborting a clump of cells that came in to being from the heinous crime. No problem killing people for misdemeanors though.

I will never understand why so many clings to Florida.

It is gone, it's done, it is over, there is no reality where dems wins it, Ohio is probably more likely, and that says it all.

The electorate in that state is all about owning the libs and culture wars, as 2022 so clearly showed.

They simply don't want anything to do with dems anymore, and good riddance i'll say, let them sink.

My wife has relatives who live inThe Villages, these are Republican's, they're telling us there's a lot of unease at the moment with the abortion and other laws that DeSantris and the GOP have brought in, it doesn't affect them directly but they have children and grand-children who are, if the GOP starts losing these voters then they are in trouble, it's less than a 4% swing, without FL Trump doesn't win, he knows it and so do the Dems and TBH so the folks in FL

I have a daughter, and I can’t imagine her one day going through the hell that you describe here ☹️

Biden has 6 months to save his presidency, and that starts with unifying his base. He gave Israel 7 months to do whatever it wanted. He can now change course. You don’t think about swing voters when your base is not fully behind you.

It's really problematic though. The media here in the U.S. covers the protests but does not cover what they are protesting about. If Biden cracks down on Israel (like he should), it will get covered as "anti-Israel" and supporting Hamas. It won't be true but that's the narrative we have over here (white people living in the middle east = good, brown people living in the middle east = scary and bad). It's fecking horrible because he would lose critical middle of the road votes because of it.

How long can Trump reasonably wait with announcing a VP pick? Wouldn't it make sense for him to pick one to create a bit of media coverage that isn't centered around the court cases?

Looks like Trump being in court helps in the polls, if anything.

So, he probably want to continue to say "witch hunt" over and over.

I agree about how the media covers it. I’m done with the media. Terrible, even the network that “cares about human rights” MSNBC. Zero interest in listening to them, at least on this issue.

But I beg to differ on the other issue. Middle of the road voters, say independents, don’t approve of the war. Here’s a quote from Gallup: “Independents have shifted from being divided in their views of the Israeli military action to opposing it.” 60% of independents disapprove the military action of Israel in Gaza. 29% only approve.

Among democrats, 75% disapprove.

And so Biden is doing something that 3/4 of his base don’t like and 3/5 of independents don’t like. It’s a choice that he has made, not because middle of the road voters.

Thanks for that. That give me hope that Biden will start to do the right thing.

Those guys obviously are massive porn watchers.

Anyway, what is up with porn? I prefer having that for educational means than going the "old way" of sending teenage males to learn the ropes of sex at the brothel (BTW, I loved the movie titled Malena).

On the plus side, if all porn is banned it will lead to the rebirth of the great American institution that was the Sears catalog. If you are old enough you know.

I'm Canadian, so I don't have any clue about the Sears catalog even though Sears used to do business in the country. Please explain to us non-Americans what it is all about.

Back in the 1800s and the frontier days Sears would produce a massive mail order catalog where you could order all kinds of things. It was basically the Amazon of the era because you could order everything from it and it would get delivered to your door.

Everything including women's underwear and swimsuits. The women's underwear section would feature full body photos of very attractive women in underwear, lingerie and swim suits. It even persisted into the 60s and 70s where young boys across multiple generations with little access to anything else would borrow their parents catalog for visual assistance.

This explains a lot. Where is that poster that called him a generational politician or something like that?
