Honestly, I was all doom and gloom and then was forced to disconnect from news/polls/etc/ for a few weeks due to a health scare and getting out of that doom vortex for a bit provided a bit of clarity. Should we be worried and stay engaged? Absolutely, but I just don't feel nearly as worried as I did in 2020, or even a month ago.

For the record it'd be nice to have a snapshot moment of election predictions / poll results from different sourdes and compare it with the actual results. I'm reminded of the debate on whether polls accurately predicted the last midterms.

I hear you. I went on 2 work trips this month (to Maine and Arizona) and it was nice breaking from my routine to give me something else to do. I also scrubbed my twitter of all of my political followings and now I just get updates from one morning podcast (Daily Beans) and follow this thread and that's about it. I already voted at our in-person early voting site so there is nothing left but the drama on Tuesday night into Wednesday. Thankfully the sports season is chalk full of stuff to distract me as well.

Exactly. As long as policy isn't changing to appease any of these GOP people I do not see the issue. I definitely would have an issue if she was making any huge policy concessions for "help". I mean in a race that is tight thinking that you stiff arm former GOP and tell them you don't need their vote or don't endorse me is silly.
Even if they can give you a few on the fence GOP people that may have respect for them in a battleground and allow potential voters the off ramp they need to possibly vote Harris because they cant stomach Trump. Its worth it. Especially when you aren't giving anything away. All we know for sure is Kamala said one cabinet position would be a Republican. That is not outrageous. Being accepting here and assuming she wins but doesn't get the Senate or House. She will need some inroads to get anything done.
Imagine if she did what some here wanted and just told a bunch of republicans get away from me don't endorse me. Then you want to go trying to court GOP in Congress to get anything done later?

They have trump up by 0.3% in Nevada, 0.9% in Georgia, 1.1% in North Carolina and 1.7% in Arizona. Not only is he not >60% in three of them- he isn't even at 50% in any of them.
It's on my mental checklist. On the plus side, instead of a dark, cold, Wisconsin basement I will be in a much more comfortable room this time along with my partner in politics (my senior citizen German Shepherd who used to be my companion for United games but has recently decided to leave the room when I turn on the games. Smart dog.)

If this stuff is normalized then you will see the like of McCain’s son or her running for office with a D attached in no time. Now, in her defense, she’s not a registered R, but I’m still highly skittish with this stuff, bad enough that Liz Cheney will be a cabinet member, we don’t need a generation of Democratic politicians with high name recognition coming from neocon households. Political realignment happens quickly, Democrats are already increasingly reliant on the ex GOP suburban college educated cohort as their election winner. Pretty much spot on. She's not doing it in the context of being Dubya's daughter to move votes as much as simply being anti-Trump. In fact, her grandmother was pretty anti-Trump back in 2016, so it probably runs in the family after Trump's comments about Jeb during the 2015 primaries.
