2024 U.S. Elections | Trump v Harris

what can and can't be said is really fascinating.

it's a really interesting profile: https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/06/21/jamaal-bowman-israel-trip-reelection-00163788

I vaguely remember when he did the compulsory Israel pilgrimage all US representatives must do, because it was seen as a betrayal of the lefties who volunteered and donated to him. Surprisingly, that trip itself was a negative turning point for his views on Israel.

There was a pro-Palestine, anti-AOC/Bernie protest outside the rally which had better attendance.

It's all three threads I'm referring to not this one specifically and I suppose it's because it's been that way for years (and not just this snapshot in time), regularly overshadowing other threads much more relevant to this part of the world. It's a bit like there's an American bot account spreading disinformation on RedCafe (an Irish website). ;)

Anyway...back to Trump v Biden.

If you want to have irish and/or UK threads on top of the forum, feel free to be active on them instead of shitting on threads that are active and certainly interests a bunch of people

Oh yes.

Noticing the prominence of the something (and wondering why), isn't the same thing as saying 'Famously nobody cared about American politics or religion in the CE before calodo started posting regularly'. But then...you already knew that. ;)

It's just an observation mate. See above.

Warnings signs for Biden’s Jewish support as war in Gaza drags on and antisemitism rises
Alarm is rising in Democratic circles that the turmoil set off by the October 7 attack by Hamas and Israel’s bloody war launched in response is becoming yet another weight on President Joe Biden’s reelection, with warning signs flashing over Jewish voters’ support for the president.

Talking with Jewish voters in Michigan, “I’ve had a couple of people say point blank, ‘How could any Jew vote for a Democrat?’” said Troy Zukowski, the West Michigan chair of the Michigan Jewish Democrats. “I’m not so concerned about Jews who may vote for Trump. I’m more concerned about those who may vote for third party spoiler candidates or not vote at all.”

We all know that they skew numbers. But as far as I had been seeing, reliable pollsters shows a tie or a loss for Biden in battleground states. Also, the national poll average in 2016/2020 underestimated Trump

Don't they usually correct for the selection bias anyway? The good pollsters know they reach a certain demographic, so will adjust the results accordingly.

Also, is it really true that polls are only done with landlines in the U.S.? I'm not American, but I have definitely answered polls about voting intention both on my cell phone and in online surveys in the past.

I think 538 does, RCP i think just weigh all polls equally though.

Not that the polling averages are hugely different, almost the same in lost states.

Unskewed the polls is ugly no matter who does it.

It’s a close race, that’s all we need to know at the moment, there’s still 4 months of ground game/GOTV operation before the picture clears a bit when some of the early vote numbers start coming in.

Yeah IMO the polls don't matter much in this one. Its just going to be a turnout game and who can turn out the best in the battleground states. Biden probably needs something to get a different group more excited that isn't as attached to one side or the other in Israel-Palestine dichotomy, maybe something on climate change or some way to leverage abortion more in the news

After oddly leading for a while, things are starting to make sense in Maryland again, with multiple polls in a row having Hogan down.

The state is just too blue for him to win a senate seat.

Caught a brief mention on a radio segment during my drive home that nutter Anna Paulina Luna is saying people inside the Halls are whispering the DNC will use Biden's likely shit show debate performance as reason to immediately remove him going forward. Googled such and found this... she said it on the Jesse Watters Primetime Clownshow.

Biden To Be Replaced As Dem Nominee, Republican Claims Lawmakers ‘Hear’ On Capitol Hill: ‘They’re Losing, It’s Very Evident’

Wow a pogrom? How many people were murdered? It sounds serious.

Perhaps even worse than the actual murder of 50k palestinians.

Fingers crossed that Colorado voters pick someone other than Lauren Boebert in the primaries today. If she loses, she won't qualify for a pension from Congress and will need to join the My Pillow Guy on the lunatic tour.
Please,please

What a drifferent world if bernie had been the POTUS...
