Utterly depressing news to wake up to. It hits differently this time with a little boy that will be 2 years old a week today. I just can’t help but fear for the world he’s growing into. What’s going to become of Ukraine?
Exactly what’s on my mind. Whats next for our kids.

The Democratic candidate in 28, if there is to be an election, will run on the same line. They've just tried to go back to hope and change and got crushed.

Also, Clarence Thomas probabaly will get his wish of repealing interracial marriage.
It’s his long game to get rid of Ginnie. Some guys just hate breaking up with their partners. Some just ghost them, others participate in donating equal rights for a nation.

Best case scenario.
And also entirely unlikely. Even if he doesnt directly feck up the world he has actively enabled some of the worst people in the world. His cronies included. Look at the propping up of people like Orban in Hungary and Meloni in Italy. A lot of political support , money and other support was sent their way from here. And those are relatively small fish.

Remember this is the same guy who personally ordered sanctions removed from Putin and company, refused to speak out against him, has active investments with the blessing of Xi, thinks Kim Yung Un is a swell guy and backed out the Paris Accords, he turned a blind eye when Erdogan Coons beat up Americans in the streets of DC of all places, and partied it up with MBS and just said the whole Khashoggi murder was a nothing burger. And the list goes on and on.

People outside the US thinking this is not their problem too need to have a big reality check.

Why does Pete Buttiget (so?) continue to sit on the sidelines? He seems such a more eloquent and genuine politician than most of the Democrats. Is it because he's gay that they fear some won't vote for him?

Judging by the last primary, he's about as unimpressive as Kamala Harris.

I would like to see how the Muslims voted. There were some Muslims organizations that supported Trump.

You truly just expect nothing from the people who want to lead us? Politicians constantly ask from us. They draw their salaries from us. They live pampered lives from us. They ask us to donate. They ask us to volunteer. They ask us to vote.

I think the very least they can do is face the music when they lose.

It’s 1.20 in the morning with the votes still being counted. The music isn’t for another 6-7 hours. Why the rush?

If you mean Harris, she called him a fascist, not a Nazi.
I think they’re used more as synonyms than they should be especially in the US. Far too many don’t realise they don’t mean the same thing
So pathetic that Harris doesn't have the guts to speak to the people who volunteered for her for months. A true coward and loser. I wish the worst on her.
Yeah. Didn’t Hillary do the same in 2016

Honestly, while you are right, facing the music isn't one speech. They never face the music other than losing elections.

She should do it but really of all the shitty things our politicians do, this is fairly innocuous. I wouldn't be that annoyed over the speech. Being a shit party unable to oppose Trump with all his failings is much worse.

This kinda comes across a bit discriminatory to me.
It’s an uncomfortable truth. I have a Mexican wife, I’ve been deeply embedded in Latino culture for over two decades. These are her words as a Latina. We’ve experienced it first hand overwhelmingly. It’s a deeply macho culture that veers heavily on the misogynistic.

China has some deep flaws in its governance that can't be "scaled laterally" to more culturally divers countries, but yes, technologically the wealthier parts of the country are miles ahead of the West.
Advancement in technology will in time render human governance negligible. The problem with the west is that capitalism and greed will forever hamper them in that direction and this is why in places like China where there is largely common wealth and at least the appearance of greater good among the governance will help them to leapfrog the west in this technological age.

Everyone knows who won. She owes it to the people who gave it their all for months. That's what leaders do. They face the music even when things don't go their way.

This is someone who signed up for the most powerful job on the planet. She should act like a leader. She owes it to her supporters.

There has to be some soul searching across the entire Dem apparatus, they clearly need a better understanding of what matters to voters. Or a much clearer idea of what they think should matter and why, so they can they convince their voters of the same. Or maybe they just need to improve their messaging and outreach. Harris was always the underdog given how little time she had, despite the sheer advantage in campaign funding - the support system that encouraged Biden to stay on for so long has a lot to answer for. As do the decision makers who funded Israel without question, and ignored/suppressed all dissent in the face of US-funded and US-backed genocide

Or maybe the country is just gone. Maybe this is the real-life version of Idiocracy, and there was never any hope at all - Dems (and liberal voters) need to adapt to a world where morals and values mean jack shit, and only might is right.

RIP America, you had a good run, now you’ll get what you frcking deserve.

Fair play to Putin, can’t help but be impressed.

Blaming the dems is laughable.

When the race hasn't been officially called yet and at this hour? Yes I absolutely don't think that's high on the priority list ATM. Especially when they're probably grappling with the appropriate response to give when faced with an electorate that is probably more disappointed than ever. Were you as critical when Trump did a million other things that spat in the face of people who do his dirty work?

Personally I find it disrespectful to states where the result hasn’t been called. Indeed they shouldn’t call any states until all the polls close.

The data on Latino men voting in droves for Trump is the least surprising thing of the night. Such a deeply misogynistic culture, they’d rather vote for a racist that thinks they are scum, than a woman. Let alone a woman of colour.
Have you bothered to check how the economy affected them?

I wonder when the Democrats will be willing to risk fielding a woman nominee again. Let’s be honest, all things being the seem there’s no way this was the result if the candidate was a man.

Harris lost because she's ill prepared (not her fault) and she wasnt even a contender to begin with. She just happens to be in the right (ironically) time to be nominated.

A properly strong and vetted female candidate would fare better

But alas i think Trump just meant to happened as fate decided. Sometimes certain people just destined to change the world (for better or worse) and stars align

Back to this again eh?

Yes I don't support Trump. I even voted for the coward Kamala Harris this time. Can you guys ever engage on any criticism of a Democrat without saying what about trump?

Trump winning is something that I kind of expected to some degree, and (as I don't live in the US) I am curious to see what happens.... Yes I know it has knock on consequences to the world but think now there is more safeguards in place for when he's in power by rest of the world (I hope)

One of the things I am absolutely dreading though, is the insufferable gloating by those morons on the alt-right like Musk, Carlson, Rogan, Brand etc. They will never disappear now

I don't know, just seems a bit much to label them all in such a way. Even if there's an element of truth, which I have no doubts there is, and you can say the same about several other cultures who have been brought up tonight especially with regards to "not voting for a woman" it's still treading a fine line and an easy cop out. Imo of course.

How many properly strong candidates have you seen over the last 30 years?

She doesn’t need to concede, but she can damn well stand up and thank them and tell them votes are still being counted. Hell, that’s what Biden did in 2020. To slip out the back silently is cowardly and disrespectful to everyone waiting on you.

The US will survive just fine. Europe on the other hand....we've been relying on the US to save our arse and now that support is gone

It's a drubbing.
You can't have a cost of living crisis and not expect to suffer at the polls.
That said, am I right in thinking this is the first time for a long time that a Republican president isn’t taking over a strong economy?

Historically they do and then loot the feck out of it, there doesn’t seem to be any wiggle room for that sort of looting this time? I can’t him but think the next election they will lose big for the reason they’re going to win today - the economy.
