2024 Summer Olympics (Paris)

You should be imprisoned for constantly leaving Curry free like that

If they don’t then KD is wide open or Lebron or Book. Not sure what they’re expected to do .

Chef Curry will always be my GOAT. No player has revolutionised the game like he has.

You've gotta respect Durant's 4 in a row, yes the previous 2 teams still had talent, but they clearly didn't take it as seriously and he led them to keep their heads in the game to gold when either could have either gone the way of 2004. Now he got another 'dream' setup to win another gold even LeBron nicking his starting/leader role.

Hey, cheer up a bit. The CAS stripped Chiles of Bronze today.
So they've basically punished Chiles, who did nothing wrong (but got tons of abuse online), gave the bronze back to the Romanian girl who couldn't celebrate it on the podium anyway and did nothing to address the actual error which was the ridiculously low marks for the other Romanian girl who should've finished second.`
Masterfully handled.

Couldn't they have just given both bronze and be done with it? Now I feel bad for Chiles.

Reckon France will have the depth around Wemby to beat USA in 2028

So China on 39 golds. USA on 38.

I know USA has a great chance in the woman’s basketball tomorrow. And also in the gold medal match vs Italy in the volleyball.

What’s on the cards for China?

I think the overall consistency is more important, the cycling team lacks superstars and so the number of golds were always going to go down
I dunno, so many of those silvers this time could easily have been gold - four in athletics alone. Seeing all those near misses has been a bit psychologically draining, even if there have been one or two surprise golds too. Hopefully Emma Finucane can add one more gold tomorrow, although it’s going to be extremely tough.

Someone said they're fancied for a women's weightlifting gold.

Basketball definitely shouldn’t be at the Olympics, or there should at least be a ban on professional players. It’s just so blatantly all about getting American tv viewers interested in the games so the IOC gets more money from selling TV rights. It’s just so cynical.

Tennis and golf shouldn’t be at the games either, for the same reason. I’d like to see 5-a-side football or futsal at the Olympics though, instead of the 11-a-side game

What a tournament!

Jokic first player ever to finish the olympics with most points, rebounds and assists? Is this right?

Oh, Jrue now has as many gold medals as his wife. KD 4th gold? Could match the cuban wrassler in LA

@TheGame TNT no longer has nba rights

I think one of the plus points for Team GB, along with the fact the overall medal achievement is probably at the top end of the expected range, is that no overall programme has had a total failure so it doesn’t feel like it should be that hard to up things slightly in future. Sailing and boxing have probably had the worst outings in terms of things we’re normally good at but which haven’t gone well, and the latter is going.

None of the main programmes have had a disaster this time, unlike rowing in Tokyo where it was clear there were issues, so it’s felt like the golds being down is more fine margins/where we are in transition rather than fundamental issues.

Interesting news that the Romanian gymnast was given the bronze medal and taken away from the US after the controversy regarding the floor score

Was reading up on Georgia bell’s career and what an incredible story. Basically gave up on running after school & focused on education & family stuff. Last year at age 29 started to run again, became training partner with Keely hodgkinson and worked with the same coaches. Hadn’t run under 4 minutes till a few months back and now won bronze running 3 minutes 52.

What’s her story? She saw a pathway to the Olympics without needing to be talented at anything and went for it? Fair play, I guess. But it’s a bit of a piss take out of people who are serious about breakdancing as an Olympic sport. Which is kind of mean, no?

I can see why you might think that but no about the last thing you can accuse her of is not being sufficiently in to breakdancing.

Rachael Gunn is an interdisciplinary and practice-based researcher interested in the cultural politics of breaking. She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies (2017) and a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Music (2009) from Macquarie University. Her work draws on cultural theory, dance studies, popular music studies, media, and ethnography.

Rachael is a practising breaker and goes by the name of 'Raygun'. She was the Australian Breaking Association top ranked bgirl in 2020 and 2021, and represented Australia at the World Breaking Championships in Paris in 2021, in Seoul in 2022, and in Leuven (Belgium) in 2023. She won the Oceania Breaking Championships in 2023.

She is very serious about it. She just goes for the artistic end which is even more hit and miss apparently. Mainly miss of course.

She is a lecturer at Macguarie Uni - Dance and gender politics. Which probably isn't a surprise.

Personally it was by far the best thing about the breakdancing competition as it made me

Thank feck LA dumped it for the next time around.

Chiles came third in the event after her score of 13.666, which had initially placed her fifth, was bumped up by 0.1 following an appeal from the US coach.

But, in a bombshell ruling today, the Court of Arbitration of Sport ruled the judging panel were wrong to allow Chiles' score to be increased and said the initial finishing order should be restored.

Chiles took to Instagram to say she was removing herself from social media 'for my mental health', while her teammate Biles said: 'Sending you so much love Jordan. Keep your chin up Olympic champ! We love you!'

Elsewhere, Chiles' sister Jazmin issued a scathing response to the controversy, writing on Instagram on Saturday 'Please keep Jordan (and my family) in your prayers. Racism is real, it exists, it is alive and well.'

Another corrupt organization ruining sports.
