2024 Summer Olympics (Paris)

Harsh on table tennis, it's a great sport, loads of skill required

I wouldn't call it great myself, it can't hold my interest for long but sure, it requires skill. I can appreciate it more than shooting which also requires skill but really is not a sport and shouldn't be in the Olympics.

To be honest, I get the most bored of sports like basketball where they allow professional athletes and the sport is mostly played in one country with some stars from a handful of others so its a real joke compared to when all the same athletes play in the NBA. Basketball would be way better if it was truly amateurs and didn't allow any NBA players.

Anyway breaking is awesome. It should have been picked up for the Los Angeles Olympics especially because there has always been a huge bboy/bgirl community here.

That was amazing by the Iranian. His style is very unique, too. That change of pace he has to go from basically not moving to 100% is impressive.
So this guy two years ago was in this form in the WC - nobody stood a chance. He had a terrible 2023. Should be a cracking final!

He was also feinting with his right hand several sequences before actually shooting. The Hungarian didn't know what to do.

GB got the silver in the men’s madison at the last Olympics and the last world championships, but they just seem to be also-rans in this race so far. They’re going to need to take a lap at some point but they don’t seem to have been bothered so far

Madison is such a fun discipline to watch. Can't believe they don't crash into each other with higher frequency.

If he wrestles like that, I’m feeling good about him winning it.

Meanwhile, our former Olympic champ is giving up a takedown because he’s reaching with his lead hand like a junior varsity kid

I don’t understand what the GB strategy was in this race (pre-crash). They didn’t seem to be going for anything.

This madison is gonna give me a heart attack

I can only think the strategy was to wait for everyone else to crash, which might have worked if they didn’t crash themselves. But yeah, I don’t see the point in not even attempting to attack and just picking up 1 or 2 points every few sprints. If you’re not going to get on the podium, does it really matter if you finish 10th or last?

Gold for portugal, silver italy, bronze denmark

Feck!

Yeah that was unfortunate really. Watching Blades now - hope she can do it

Italian commentary didn't even try by the end

I don't know how the dutch wasn't immediately arrested on the track either
I'm not fully into the rules and regulations of this, but that looked like a reason for immediate dismissal from the race. He wasn't even under pressure or anything - just barged him.
