The late Obama looking down from up high.

That's the thing. If you were to talk to a random Biden supporter ans ask them why should he be president, I guarantee the answer will be 'decency, bring back sanity' etc.

If this recession is real, and if Trump has his 2016 political instincts still left in him, he can run a FDR 1940-like campaign - a steady hand to guide the ship, pointing to Biden's mental issues and his own business success or however he wants to spin that.

Would be interesting to see what happens if Biden gets nominated
  1. If he wins, he may probably kill the hard left forever that America is a country of centrists
  2. If he loses, finally we can begin to coalesce around AOC for 2024.
But I fully believe the moderate camp will again blame the hard left and find a more 'centrist' candidate. FML

What's insane is that he doesn't even need to do that. His dogmatic supporters will vote for him regardless of what he says or does.

#2 should have happened with Bernie 2020 and it didn't. They will coalesce around whatever corporate money DNC candidate may win.

Not going to happen .Just as defeating Trump will not kill Trumpism.

You can't kill the hard left in America in an era of massive generational wealth disparity and impending climate catastrophe. Nor can you kill the far right, for the same reasons.

I'd say Far right is becoming mainstream more or less. It's true that nobody can kill an idea but Biden getting elected will have an adverse effect on people running to be elected on a hard left platform. Of course, I may well be wrong.

When has there not been such wealthy disparity? this is american democracy in action. More and more are Disenfranchised with every election. Which is why people don’t vote in this country. It might seem different for folks living outside the US but it really isn’t.

I don’t think either 1 or 2 are likely. The left will continue to exist as a factor within the Dem party and AOC won’t be viable as a Presidential candidate in 4 years. If Biden somehow loses, its Buttigieg who will become the next big thing in the party.

Obama's presidency created the American left out of almost nothing. I don't see how Biden winning will do anything but fuel it.

The generational wealth gap has doubled in the last two decades.

I made two intelligent predictions and it turns out both are wrong. I've single handedly succeeded in getting nays from raoul and the hard left people. Maybe I should stand in the election

It still makes zero difference because capitalism. Just look at this forum for example. There are posters here who truly believe Bernie supporters aren’t Democrats. They rather believe Putin wants to distort our elections than believe in something like healthcare is a human right.

Putin wanting to distort elections have nothing to do with healthcare being a human right

Why is that? colour? gender? why a millionS years?

I'll take that. In a million years she will be dead so there is that. That being said, the South (which every 10 years grows and gets more electoral college votes) will never vote for someone that progressive. The gender/colour may have something to do with it now, but it's her progressive nature that will keep her from being voted in.

If Bernie can't get the nomination because he's considered to be too left for the American mainstream, where do you see AOC in that spectrum? She has no chance of getting a nomination let alone winning a presidency. Let's face it, the dems will always have a Hillary or a Biden to nominate over her.

Yep in that case I just disengage from politics completely

To the right of Sanders. Where do you see her?

To the left of Bernie. Reading through her positions she comes across as a younger and more progressive version of Bernie. Things like defunding and abolishing ICE, 70% tax rates, de-privatization of prisons, free college and cancelation of debt, her anti-Israel position and many more. There is absolutely no path for her to being a president, no matter how you look at it.
