2018 US Elections

He lost the election by couple of hundred votes in Florida. I wouldnt say he was unpopular. Better than Hillary that's for sure.

clinton had won it in the two preceding elections. gore also won statewide election twice

True, although Perot undoubtedly helped Clinton win it to an extent. I don't think Gore's particularly inspiring as such but just think that in general criticising someone for not being able to win their state isn't always an indicator of how good or bad they are as a candidate. Some will walk theirs no matter what while others might potentially struggle depending on the makeup of said state.

yeah but its not like he was a democratic rep from utah. it was a state that had some history of going blue and he had already proven he could win a statewide election there

Whitmer was hosted at a fundraiser thrown by lobbyists for Blue Cross Blue Shield. She netted $144,000 during a single day at the event.
During the campaign, Gretchen Whitmer — whose father is Richard Whitmer, formerly the head of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan — was defensive against criticisms that she was too close to the health insurance giant. “It’s extremely sexist to say that a woman is beholden to her father’s former employer,” she told CNN.
...

This week, Whitmer won the governor’s mansion, putting the state back in the Democratic column. She quickly announced the composition of her transition team.

One of the “honorary co-chairs” is Daniel Loepp, the president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

The world really took the worst turn with Sirhan Sirhan, if we are discussing missed opportunities.

And that's assuming he was the actual assassin.

The Blue Wave continues....

Two more Senate seats and Governorships and 7 more house seats that lean Democrat.

Newsflash: Sinema leads by 22,000 now.
I said, on election night, that democrats should be happy with this cycle-- they have achieved their goal of flipping the House. If they end up having 35-40 pickups, a 52-48 in the Senate (which was the balance before the special election in Alabama) and multiple governor flips, then they should be very happy with the outcome. Winning either the gubernatorial race in FL or GA would be a bonus.

Can’t see Sinema losing now since most outstanding votes are in her strong areas.

Great stuff, I have a feeling pinching that seat now will be decisive in taking the whole Senate in 2020.

Neslon gap still coming down slowly. 12,562 now - down from 14.8k yesterday. Don't know how many (if any) left to count. Could well be that the undervote in Broward is what tosses the election to Scott.

There are reportedly two types of ballot left to be counted in Arizona. Around 100,000 more from Maricopa (leans Sinema) and then supposedly 200,000 postal ballots that McSally's camp reckon will bring her back into play. Can't see it myself but I guess we'll see.

I'm certain the Republicans in the Red counties will be trying to cook up ballots for McSally.
