2016 US Presidential Elections | Trump Wins

As we get within a week of election day and with 20m people (and counting) already having voted, the polls get a bit less important than the perceived enthusiasm of getting a strong turnout on 8 Nov.

It'll be over in 8 days. Hallelujah. I don't have a lot of friends here to have a election day results party. US Caftards, what are your plans for results? Just Wolf blitzer?

Will go and vote at some point on election day, probably before I go to work. Then will probably just watch some shows on Netflix or something, go to bed, wake up the next morning, put the news on, and see where the riots are.

I'm very impressed with CNN's coverage this cycle. A great balance of characters, especially the Trump and Hillary surrogates. If Hillary wins, I'll be channel swapping between CNN, MSNBC, and Fox to watch the Trump surrogates squirm.

I've actually booked the 9th off work so I can stay up watching it all unfold on Tuesday night and not have to get up for work the next day.

Sad, I know.

Is anyone watching CNN now? What was that a minute ago about Trump taking someone's front row seat at a charity event just so he could appear on TV, and then fecking off without making a donation? Unbelievable. He truly is scum. He's like a really nasty and completely unfunny version of Del Boy from Only Fools and Horses. His scummy-ness knows no bounds, there really is no limit to how low he will stoop to either make a buck, or to promote himself, or to throw someone else under the bus.

No problem. I especially loved the $7 donation from the Trump foundation to the Boy Scouts of America.

I was literally just about to post that. I knew about the fountain, but that just takes the piss. Unbelievable, yet again his scummyness does surprise me.

Another unusual feature: one of the foundation's most consistent causes was Trump himself.

New findings, for instance, show that the Trump Foundation's largest-ever gift - $264,631 - was used to renovate a fountain outside the windows of Trump's Plaza Hotel.

Its smallest-ever gift, for $7, was paid to the Boy Scouts in 1989, at a time when it cost $7 to register a new Scout. Trump's oldest son was 11 at the time. Trump did not respond to a question about whether the money paid to register him.

For fecks sake.

In CNN I still trust (due to a lack of better options). If they irritate me too much I might switch. And as much as I'd like to down a whole bottle of scotch if the Orange one is elected, will actually have to go to bed early because markets will be rough the next day in that scenario.

You're not sad mate, I will be here all night too. So maybe I should have said you won't be alone

So who else will be here with us? And should we have some games sorted?

If it looks like Trump is going to lose will stay up all night and probably take the day off work the following day to settle in for 12 hours of Fox News. The fallout will be spectacular. I'm a terrible loser, but a wonderful winner.

I'm up at 7am on the Wednesday so will probably just not bother with sleep that night.

Ouch!

Boom! That's a pretty scary ad. That's the one problem for us outside the US, we don't get to see many attack ads unless we actively search for them, I see all the Hillary ads as she (or her aides) always post them on Twitter, and I've seen a few Drumpf ones, but I rarely get to see the Super-PAC ones for or against either candidate.

I refuse to watch the news. My mind is already made up and any more electoral coverage will drive me insane plus I get the important stuff from here plus feck Wolf Blitzer.

Vote early in the morning. Go to work, ignore election chatter. Go home. Watch sports. Find out who the winner is the next day.

Yeah we saw that in the NBA thread last season :smirk:

What time did is the result due?

Partial results will be forthcoming throughout the night. Polls on the West Coast don't close till around 9:00 PM Pacific Time. US Networks usually refrain from calling the national race until those polls close, I think they will hold off some on any state where the polls are still open. My guess is we will have a good idea of how things are going by 9 or 10 PM EST. By Midnight it should be pretty much all over. Of course if things out to be Bush-Gore close it could be weeks until we know for sure.

I'm in 'bench force' for my company. I'm looking to spend some well earned rest till December with full pay. I've already planned a 21 day West Coast trip to San Franciso, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I'm planning to stock up on snacks and have a 2 day TV binge, no matter what the result is

If Trump wins, I'm planning to leave US back to India. To be fair, I was looking for an excuse for almost a couple of years, and I will use this.

 That's fair enough, I admire your spirit and dedication to seeing the anger and meltdown on Faux. The only one I want to see is Hannity but he will be unbearable should Trump win.

I imagine most of us here will be up. Should we have a bet on final outcome, final states and electoral vote numbers? And if Trump does lose, what he will say in his concession speech, or if he will actually give one or not.
