Hillary Clinton has cancelled a trip to California to attend fundraising events after it emerged the Democratic presidential nominee has pneumonia and been advised to rest by her doctor.

An aide announced the cancellation on Sunday night following Clinton’s abrupt departure from the 9/11 memorial ceremony in downtown Manhattan because, her campaign initially said, she felt “overheated”.

Clinton was scheduled to attend fundraisers on Monday and Tuesday in California, and tape an episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

This bit is interesting: neither candidate are exactly glowing examples of transparency about their health, compared to the past.
In 2008, Barack Obama, then 47, released a 276-word report about his health. His opponent, John McCain, then 71, made available more than 1,000 pages related to his own medical history.

In contrast, Clinton has released only a few pages of records and Trump has released only a letter from his personal physician which contains few details and which the doctor subsequently said was “rushed”, prompting calls for more detail from both candidates.

Trump is scheduled to appear on the Dr Oz television show later this week, to discuss both presidential nominees’ health.

Nope, a 64 year old with a bout of pneumonia seems to be more serious then campaign fraud.
 
I'd honestly have serious reservations about voting for Clinton. There are just so many issues with her. The health one being the latest but very important issue. Then, I'd think well, the alternative is Donald Trump and the choice is obvious. But It's incredible that a country like The USA has this decision between these two people.

I'm not having that. Hillary had huge approval ratings after being SoS. Since the trumps have been taken over breitbart.com the conspiracies have emerged again. The biggest non scandal in US history over the handling of emails has been explained and apologized for. You notice there hasn't been a word said on Benghazi over the last few months. Hillary is set up perfectly for four years after thirty years of service in the highest positions. Trump has never run for a public office, he tweets and has a hard on for his daughter. The decision is an easy one unless you refuse to pay attention to facts.

Indeed, but it's the bare faced audacity of the fraud that is astounding. How can it not be punished? It's akin to someone walking in to a shop and just sticking whatever they can in their pockets right in front of the security guard and cctv cameras and then just walking out the store. It is that brazen and blatant, I mean it's almost as if he hasn't tried to hide it at all. If anyone else tried this they would be prosecuted. No question about it, but Trump, well it's just par for the course with him, and not only is it expected and unsurprising, but it's almost as if it is tolerated. Will nothing really stick to him? Ever? Surely something has to sooner or later. You wouldn't mind if he was smart or intelligent, the fact he is an ignorant dumb ass makes it even harder to take and understand.

Get a piece of paper, write Hillary in one column and Donald in another. Do you're due diligence and look in to both. Write the bad points down for each candidate that make them unacceptable for high office. See which column you finish first. I'm still writing in my Donald one.

The Feds should be all over his bribing of Floridas AG to drop the Trump Uni. Investigation. That's a serious fecking matter and highly illegal.
 
Does Hilary's health make Trump's chances better for election? Or is it still just a formality at this point (reading the poll pic from @Raoul a couple weeks back it looked like Hilary had it all but won).

I believe it's a formality. Trump failed miserably in the Commanders forum. The debates will destroy him.

It depends whether the health issue continues to dog her (legitimately, not because of Trump's conspiratorial nonsense about her health).

If the election were held today, she should have enough to win, even without winning most of the swing states.

I absolutely hear you on her qualifications, but yesterday's incident in conjunction with other suspicious health moments have cast doubts on her ability. Her record is there for all to see, but now too are health problems. That's why I said a variety of reasons, it's not the same set of reasons for the two of them. I agree that it's an extremely easy decision which I'd choose, but I don't think she'll be a success.

It's more than that, it's robbing a shop and then selling the goods in your own shop right across the street from it.

He won't call her out on twitter on the health issues at this point, just doesn't make any sense. The pictures and the media focus damage her enough. Maybe at a later stage he'll find himself in a position where he feels he needs to remind the voters of her condition but playing nice is his bet way forward atm.

That's exactly what I meant. The donation fraud and charity scams are really only just scratching the surface, his bribery of officials goes even further. I honestly cannot understand why he isn't being prosecuted or being carted out of Trump tower in bracelets by the Feds. Let's not even mention the Trump University court case and scams.

With the recent seizures and collapse yesterday, Hillary has clearly got major health concerns. Is there a president for this situation, ie should/could she now stand down as she's clearly not fit to run, and allow Bernie to run as the democrat?

He's had so much luck in this campaign, from the divided GOP field to all of Hillary's problems. Even his conspiracy theory of Hillary being sick came true. It's written in the stars man.

There's no evidence of her being unfit to run. Everyone gets sick from time to time. George Bush nearly fainted in Japan and continued with his Presidency just fine. Dubya actually did faint after choking on a pretzel in 2002 and continued on for another 6 years. Reagan was shot. People do get sick, especially those in that age group, but they generally recover fine.

Any idea how long pneumonia takes to recover from??
Its a pretty bad time for her to get sick.. 7 weeks to go... She cant be out for 2-3 weeks.
 
There is an anti establishment mood in the air across the West that I think polls and pundits are struggling to quantify. I know people say the comparisons are lazy but if the UK can vote for Brexit I think the US can vote for Trump.

As @Raoul said, she is just poorly, and I personally think the chances of her standing down are incredibly minimal to say the least. However, if she did stand down it would then go to a vote by Democratic members between Bernie Saunders and Joe Biden. Apparently Kaine received no votes previously, so cannot be considered. I will try to find the article that explained all this if I can.

Well, that one item that a lot of Bernie supporters seem to forget: he's not really a Democrat. I think the party will look for every solution they can before making him the candidate. (Or maybe its just wishful thinking on my part)

Surely he can switch back easily again? Would that matter that much? I mean, he was one during the Dem fighting out.
 
If she has a strong debate performance, which she likely will, everything will be forgotten. I can see Trump lampooning himself on national TV.

Anyone else getting a sense of foreboding that this is actually going to happen? I for one would not have a problem with that ticket, I would just say if it is going to happen, I hope it'd happen before the debates are over because Biden would annihilate Trump.
 
Why is Biden not running for president in the first place?

Any remotely serious Democrat candidate would crush Trump, just as any remotely serious Republican candidate would crush Hillary.
 
The beauty of the modern mainstream media is that it caters for people's incredibly short attention span. A month ago this place was laughing itself silly over the Psycho Yam's poll number and Khan's comment controversy. In a week no one will give a damn about the 'seizures' and 'collapse'.

On the flip side, because nobody seem to be capable of remembering anything that happened before yesterday, Clinton can actually be in deep shit if she leads by sub 4 points going into the final week and get a bad news cycle on the eve of Election Day.
