Comedians at Rob Lowe Roast Went Too Far Insulting Ann Coulter

'You could kill yourself' is not a joke
Technically, Comedy Central’s The Roast of Rob Lowe should have been all about Rob Lowe. Instead, conservative pundit Ann Coulter caught some fire too.
While the crux of Comedy Central’s “Roast” series is to in fact roast the celebrity at hand, and we’re not exactly sure what Coulter was doing there in the first place, comedians slammed Coulter harder than Lowe. According to the Daily Mail, British comedian Jimmy Carr called Coulter “one of the most repugnant, hateful, hatchet-face b-tches alive.” He also joked (but is this a joke?), “It’s not too late to change, Ann. You could kill yourself!” Hilarious.
Where is the line between comedy and degradation? Instead of decrying Coulter’s politics, the men (except Jewel) referred repeatedly to Coulter’s looks, and to calling her a “b-tch.”
Jeff Ross said, “Ann Coulter wants to help Trump make America great again. You can start by wearing a burka. You have a face that would make doves cry.” Peyton Manning equated her to an animal: “I just realized that I’m not the only athlete up here tonight. As you all know, earlier this year Ann Coulter won the Kentucky Derby.” David Spade said, “It looks like she’s having a good time. I haven’t seen her laugh this hard since Trayvon Martin got shot.”
Coulter appeared prepared, however, to face the constant insults. She joked, “I’d like to welcome everyone to the Ann Coulter roast with Rob Lowe,” reports USA Today. Coulter also told Fox that her “whole career has been an Ann Coulter roast.”
