2016 US Presidential Elections | Trump Wins

You don't see what Michael Moore reckons could happen - with Trump winning the rust belt states that tradionally go Dem like Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin?

http://michaelmoore.com/trumpwillwin/

It's a pipedream.

Ohio isn't a traditional Dem state, but the quintessential battleground state. The rest have gone Dems 6/6 previous elections by comfortable margins.

Liberals love panicking.

What happened in Pulp Fiction? Butch didn't go down in the fifth. He won the fight. Bernie couldn't quite win but he didn't go down early, he gave her much more of a tussle than her handlers ever expected.

Regardless of the specifics of "the arrangement", it must be of some concern that even in a party where superdelegates nearly ensure party leadership get the candidate they want, that Hillary needed to take these additional measures to defeat a previously unfancied 70+ year old shouty non-Democrat from a state best known for its premium ice cream. At the very least, the revelation does not flatter her or her party's claims to serve its voters.

I told you, I'm a Bernie supporter. I think she's not a great candidate. And it concerns me she needed help beating a 74-year old outsider Jewish socialist. But there's no smoking gun that he lost because the DNC hated him, or that he was there for spectacle alone. Most Bernie fans assumed that DWS and the DNC didn't like Bernie and were tinkering at the margins to protect Hillary and attack him. This proves it, but things like the debates controversy had done that long ago. TBH I don't blame DWS for not liking him - his "political revolution" would be targeted exactly at people like her.

Fair enough, after this week I'm one of those Liberals panicking. More concerned about the mandate a Trump win would give rather than how he would be like as President.

All I can say is Dems may have won those other 3 states 6/6 times in previous elections - but this election seems a lot different to previous ones.

I don't think Michigan is seriously being polled right now. Clinton's average in Wisconsin is about +7, Pennsylvania +5, more or less in line with Obama's 2012 results.

You'd think with Donald Drumpf leading the ticket it'd be higher than that, and it probably will be, but Republicans will vote for a dead rat with (R) in front of it.

it's also the hillary effect. she pisses a fair few off.

Here is a graph of each candidate's odds of winning the election, from a statistics website.

Heard an interview on NPR with Gabriel Sherman, who wrote this piece http://www.theloudestvoiceintheroom.com/ and an exert for New York Mag, in which he thinks Roger Ailes may wind up working PR for Trumpets. Said Ailes and Trump are friendly and that Ailes practically built the Trump political figure by giving him a platform on FNC.

Forgot to add: Trump has been providing advice to Ailes on how to navigate through the SH charges.

Tim Kaine - Full Intro Speech

That was great. Interesting that the first two topics he spoke about were the military and growing up in a working class household, two great wedge issues against Trump. Also got a lot of likeability, which obviously Clinton has been somewhat lacking. Well balanced ticket.

The Spanish speaking will be massive, as he'll be on all the Spanish channels doing interviews about how dangerous Trump is, which will just push up Hillary's Latino numbers even further. That could be critical in places like Florida, Arizona, NM, and Nevada. The Trump people must be truly bricking it.

From a Florida Republican following Kaine's speech:

Just listening to Tim Kaine's speech now, does sound pretty good. Doesn't really seem that boring a person

I like Kaine's speaking charisma, I think he will annihilate Pence in the VP debate. Pence won't be able to defend Trump's batshit insane positions like Trump himself.

Don't bother checking FiveThirtyEight until the 2nd week of August. The numbers are going to go back and forth between now and then.

They never had Obama below 60% after July in 2012. This is indeed worrying that the odds are coming down so much over the last 2 weeks.

Part of the problem is the huge number of voters saying they'll vote for a 3rd party candidate, which makes it harder to predict and election. Not sure if these numbers will reduce.

Each race has different dynamics - Hillary is losing ground in the past couple of weeks because of the email scandal being in the news and the FBI Director publicly scolding her for being irresponsible. That coupled with the Republican convention are giving Trump a bump right now. I'd imagine the Dem convention will undo at least part of that.

Reassuringly from an anti-Trump standpoint, 3rd party support is concentrated among libertarians not Greens. I can imagine some Bernie-Johnson crossover based on foreign policy and the NSA but not too much.

The most convincing pro-Clinton argument, stumbled across it on wikipedia

Warren Brennan Marshall Douglas Ginsburg is the kind of majority you can only fantasise about sadly.

Ike did a lot of goods, but the Warren court was his biggest one.

Next 4 years will be all about the court. Hope Breyer do the right thing and step down for a younger replacement. Ginsburg definitely will.
There are chatters about Thomas calling it quits, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Why does the Y axis go from -2 to 1.5? It skews the whole graph.
The median is just slightly towards conservative but looks very different at first look..
Shenanigans.

The best part about his speech is that a good bit of it was unscripted, which is pretty amazing.
