Some glimmer of hope from Fox news even for Hillary

- PA and MI can still swing for her
- Maine called for her
- Slightly(Barely) ahead in NH now
- Alaska is not a 100% Trump call.. some reports that Hillary in within a chance there.

Hope it's the Republican leadership in House and Senate that can dictate policy now and not leave it all up to Trump. He hasn't had the backing of the establishment throughout his campaign so it'll be interesting to see what happens now.
He should bite their heads off. No help whatsoever from them. No way he'll cede - the party will come to him with tails between their legs I am guessing

So at what point do Pesos and Dollar bottom out?

Also welcome to your new job Xi Jinping, leader of the new world order.

I'm not surprised that the voters elected such a deeply unpleasant candidate (that often happens) but I am a little suprised that they voted for such a buffoonish one. I honestly thought that Palin had shown us there was a limit to the degree of foolishness the voters would tolerate. I was wrong.

Ah well, I'm looking forward to all of this winning we're about to do. It's going to be really interesting times and I am quite intrigued by what will happen.

Working class folks voting for a crooked billionaire - what a spectacular failure for the liberal left this is.

I think it's partly been driven by sanctimonious attitude which simply polarizes - some of it which can be seen in this thread. Instead of wanking to John Oliver videos or arrogantly dismissing entire groups of people as thick and racist, the liberals should have engaged more with the issues that matter to these people.

Exactly, and it seems to be the same everywhere. Many liberals, despite being intelligent, well educated and "in the right" a lot of the times seems to have this holier than thou attitude coupled with an uncanny ability to dismiss any opposing viewpoints as stupid

Instead they should focus on winning over people with discourse and well reasoned arguments

Out of everything that's happening, the prospect of a Republican President with a conservative government and conservative Supreme Court could set the States back decades. I know that sounds dramatic, but take Climate Change for example. You have a President and a government, that denies Climate Change even exists.

feck Sake, America!

Well he has a 54% approval rating which is really high with how partisan this country is.

If not for American's two-term limit, he'd be serving another four years probably.

The reason I ask is because Obama seemingly is the opposite of Trump morally etc but has he been good enough a president to really convince anyone that it's a fundamental part of the job?

You also say that this election as been all about the individuals but I think the total opposite is true. The election was all about the establishment vs anti establishment. You say yourself you're surprised how all the bad things he's said and done haven't affected his chances - his message was the most important thing not him. Could have had Bernie Sanders in his position saying the same things and things would be similar, I think personnel was the least important factor with Trump.

I don't deny the anti-establishment aspect here, not in the least, i just wouldn't be able to overlook these allegations of sexual assault and his racially/religious motivated remarks. Unless i had a particularly good representative or senator, i'd be making my protest more locally.

This is going to be a late night since there are still several states to be called until Trump is officially over the finish line, and then he and Hillary have to have a phone call, then Hillary has to give her concession speech....and then finally Trump can give his acceptance.

I didn't describe it as genius. Far from it. But Hillary's arrogance blinded her. Her policy comments were light because she wanted to portray herself as Super St. Hillary. That was easy enough for Trump to show up and that was all he needed to do.

The raging maniac wasn't part of the political establishment, that's the biggest thing. Obama was beatified and despite the hope and change campaign, nothing much changed. I think that's a big factor, especially when Hillary could have focused specifically on how she'd make people's lives better, in detail. She made it about character.
Hillary's arrogance that cost her against Obama.

- You won because of racism

- "We're not all racists. Some of us are but most of us just enable it"

- OK. You won because some of you are racists

- "It's not fair to single out groups of people"

- Errrr

I suggest you consider the demographic breakdowns:

This has nothing to do with the life chances of millenials. This is the anger of old white voters. Just as with Brexit (Britain is overwhelmingly white anyway).

"Battle of generations"

The media love to spin it like that. It's a common trend. Most people become more conservative as they get older. Like I said there's still tons of people of all ages voting either way - unfair and flippant to single out one minority group and blame them for the result of the entire vote, disregarding the masses.

How is Pence going to be running things? Even as VPs go he's low profile. It's McConnell and McCarthy I'm looking to.
Pence will be the bridge between Trump and GOP establishment. He will play the Cheney role. Trump pretty much said that VP will take care of domestic and foreign policy while he makes america great again.

feck's sake.. Obama going out with a great approval rating but presided over loss after loss for the Dems

It's apt because he has talked more and achieved little. If he had actually delivered on 'Hope and Change', people might not be looking for another change candidate.

I picked the wrong week to stop snorting cocaine. :wenger:

I bet Joe Biden feels sick tonight. Everything he worked for the last 8 years is done and he could have been POTUS. Poor guy has suffered.

You are in California so now that weed is legal you can just get stoned for the next 4 years.

Obama was behind in the polls going into the last week and barely sqeaked his 2nd term.
I honestly think he would have been trumped tonight if he was running. Hard to promise more change after 8 years of struggles v a man with a louder promise of change.
