2009 Baseball Season

This must really hurt Sox just lost a really bad game 10-11 against the O's 10 - 1 up to lose it.

The baseball season is 162 games a season

But never, NEVER in a longtime has such a collapse like that happened.

Knowing Boston media: they blame the rain, then blame Masterson, then blame the entire bullpen, then blame Ortiz, then mass suicide, then trades, the Mike Lowell on the DL, then the rain, the Smoltz, then the rain, then Paps, then the fecking RAIN !.

This is in a 16 hour time span  ... credit due to the O's, great heart

The Bo Sox are drama queens if they keep beating the Yankees the media will soon be on to it nationwide, I actually could see the Yanks doing some real damage in their park in the postseason if they make it, it'slike the Rockies at COors but the Yankees are infinetly more talented.

I shall quote you again:

The Yankees have clicked...ish, but who knows if we even are on the same level come Septemer/October if applicable.

I'm more worried about these surging Rays to be honest.

The Caf was down so I couldn't say anything about it, but I was watching a match live the other day, and play was stopped for about an hour in the final inning because a swarm of bees invaded the stadium. I hate bee's, it was horrible to watch! They all settled around a chair with a jacket on it, eventually a bee keeper came along and sorted it out. Bizarre stoppage, disturbing events though!

 I saw that, hilarious stuff.

The Jays seem to be re-vamping their entire line-up... Halladay is apparently available, the quad of Rios, Wells, Lind and Hill are all apparently in striking distance, and BJ Ryan was released.

Horrible, but the rumors swirling is JP has been in contact with the Dodgers for a number of enquiries

Don't get me wrong I would take over what the Yankees have. Melky is doing what he did last year good start then just fall way off then Gardner I really like him I think hes a 4th outfielder at best.

Wakefield, my favourite Sox player, improved to 11-3 last night. What a man. Ortiz smacks a three-run homer in the sixth. On the down side, the mfys are only half game behind in the standings. It is going to be squeaky bum time for the next three months.

Phillies have like 10 representatives in the All-Star game, including that gay cnut Victorino, overrated Ryan Howard, and Jayson Werth. Shouldn't the Dodgers, with the best record in the majors, have more than 3 reps?

Or the Giants. Second best record in the NL and only two representatives. Victorino taking the final spot over Kemp or Sandoval was ridiculous. Their numbers were far more impressive.

The All Star game is a fecking joke. Always has been, always will be.

Tell that to Pete Rose

Sanchez throws the first no hitter of 2009. Pretty amazing story. He had been sucking and was stuck in the bullpen three weeks ago. He was given the start because of an injury to another pitcher and his Dad flew up from Puerto Rice to see him pitch in the bigs for the first time.

Amazing story isn't it.

I guess the third basemen felt so bad flowing the perfect after the game he was crying in the locker room... the announcer (I was watching the game) kept citing that he milked it and in any other circumstance it would have been an infield single.

Regardless what an amazing thing to see.

And Barbara, TIMMY WAKEFIELD BABY !!!!!

!

If he had made the play it would have been a fantastic play. Once he knocked the ball down he still had a chance, but did seem to milk it a bit. Hey, it worked.

Excuse me, AlwaysRedwood, but that story doesn't involve the Yankees or Red Sox, therefore it didn't happen. :smirk:

Giants, man. The best pitching rotation in the majors, full stop. When you have studs like Lincecum, Cain, Randy Johnson, and even guys like Zito, Sanchez, and Sadowski coming up big,:drool::drool:. All we need is one big bat.

At this point, we don't even need a bat. Our record is better than anyone in the NL over the past 40 games, including the Dodgers. Our hitters are finally hitting and our pitching is lights out.

If we get into the playoffs, we are world series bound. Pitching, pitching, pitching.

I agree, and despite the Dodgers big lead, anyone who thinks they're better than SF based on that makes me laugh... they're not close to the Giants in my opinion, i've stayed up to watch this ballclub MANY times already this season and there's not one team I can firmly place a bet on winning the World Series other than the Giants.

Good to see Matt Cain coming around after his career slow-started... Tim Lin is just fecking nasty good, and the rotation has a good decade on it with Madison Bumgarner on his way up soon.

Cain took a line drive off the elbow in the second inning, hopefully he was just taken off as a precaution.

That was a hell of a game by Sanchez last night, lots of easy outs pop ups, sawed off bats. Had his best stuff all night. First Giant no hitter since the Count back in the late 70's.

Cain's arm is not broken. He'll probably miss a start. Out of the All-Star game. Hopefully there's a Philly that is laying around who can fill the spot.

All star game tonight anyone watching it I just heard Longoria (infected ring finger) replaced by Michael Young big loss the. I want the AL to win but I like the look of the NL team.

I watched the Home Run derby last night, well until I fell asleep in the 2nd round. Goes on a long time...

Will watch tonight. Seems a bit odd to me while I've watched the first half of the regular season all they've talked about is who will be playing in this half way over glorified friendly

was at the Giants - Padres game on Sunday. Zito was terrible and apperantely the most expensive player in the team. Was pretty nice though as there were some homeruns due to Zito being shit but the fans around were severly pissed off at him. However due to his salary he is basically no tradeable as well, no-one wants him

Dude, I know all about Zito. You don't have to tell me, he's our version of Juan Sebastian Veron + Djemba-Djemba all in one magical package. Believe it or not, he used to be worse.

Brad, no, only if the media hates you. Pooholes is kind of like the Fernando Torres of America, everybody loves him soooooo much.

I hate Joe Maddon with ever ounce of my body.

The selection of Pena was not only wrong, but a bit disrespectful to Ian Kinsler who obviously deserved at least a spot in the crowded 2B position... when Pedroia stepped out to be with his wife, he should have been brought in.

The one that bugs me most now, is waiting his entire career to be in and make the all-star team, 43-year old Tim Wakefield doesn't even get to pitch once... fecking bullshit.

I HOPE he fecks them up at the Trop late in the season to cost them a playoff spot, I stayed up to see Wake pitch and he doesn't even get a chance.

Because he's the best player in baseball and he seems a really nice likeable guy as well? Don't see the problem!

I managed to go 7 innings before falling asleep last night, scores remained the same to the finish though

Of course he didn't pitch Wakefield. He wanted to win the thing.

Don’t need to, Wakefield is what he is. A very solid contributor who will eat up a lot of innings for you but he ain’t an All-Star imo. I would have never pitched him if I was managing.

I think that's what makes the all-star game a legit competition sad, the man has gone his whole career playing 2nd, 3rd, 4th and hell, even 5th fiddle to some great pitchers on the Sox and in the AL... he gets his chance, deservingly as the best pitcher on our squad and easily one of the best in the AL, and he doesn't even get a sentimental inning, even though he's the most deserving of a spot not named Halladay.

I dunno, i'm not bitter because i'm a Sox fan though it seems that way, i'm not awfully upset at Beckett's omission and Youkilis' lack of chances, this Wakefield thing just bugs me.

How good is Pujols another 2 homers tonite, the guy is a legend. I hope he isnt bullshitting because if he isnt(about roids of course) the guy is the player of the decade by some distance. Griffrey for the 90s feck you Bonds, regardless feck you Bonds

There isn't really any debate to it, Pujols is the hitter of the 2000's.

The man will play another 10/15 seasons, especially if he moves to the AL and DH's (Although 1B isn't the most demanding position) and will go down as one of the best all-time.
