2009 Baseball Season

Walk off again for the Yankees, something of a speciality now :)

I dunno, they didn't look that good in this series to be honest, they'll have to up their game still if they want to make any form of push for the World Series this year

Need to up their game after winning 20 of the last 26 and 9 of the last 10?

I can't even imagine what upping their game would do when they're already playing this well.

Well they didn't really beat us that convincingly & the Jays aren't hardly a side thats in form. Maybe a case of us rising to the challenge of the big ballpark, i just didn't think the Yankees looked that amazing against us. I expected all 3 games for them to win very convincingly.

What are you talking about F-Red, since mid May the Yankees and Rockies have been the best teams in their respective leagues imo. The Yankees have the best record in MLB ffs. Since A-Rod came back Texeira has been awesome. The Yankees have to be considered one of the favorites for the world series if not the no 1 favorite too bad they still dont have torrie

I wouldn't say the Yanks were amazing over the last 3 games either but your not gonna beat teams down in very game out of 162. I think allot of the players were exhausted after the Sox series.

Fair point, it'll be interesting to see how they fair up against the Mariners. Both Suzuki & Hernadez are rich in form. It'd be safe to say they have the AL East in the bag tho.

Aren't they bottling fecks known for choking though?

Lucky for us the Mariners were in a 14 innings game last night and we miss King Felix.

Rockies have signed Giambi, too bad no more steroids would have been a brilliant signing if he still used them

The Dodgers and Rockies begin a series in Colorado tonite, it is extremely important in regards to both the Wildcard Race and the NL West Divisional Race, as Colorado lead the WildCard race and the Dodgers lead the NL West atm.

I still think the Yankees are favorites at this point

Kazmir's change of scenery will be good for him, I think alot of the batters in the AL East had him figured out, he doesn't have good numbers against us, the Yankes, O's or Jays.

Strange though, he's got the stuff of a staff ace when he's on point, it's a funny trade.

Tampa is getting 2 top prospects in return, as well as a PTBNL... I wonder if it's maybe a BIG name, waiting until the season is over possibly?

Joe Maddon is more excited about this mystery player then the kids they picked up.

meh.....Lincecum is awesomer.

While I am in no way denying that Lincecum is awesome, I'd love to see what he'd do in a real league like Greinke is in - facing opponents that actually have some quality in their lineups. As it is, there are only 2 or 3 teams in the NL that have offenses worthy of mentioning.

Lincecum and Cains stats are inflated by the fact they pitch in a shit division and the NL is full of garbage for the most part, but you can't deny the fact both of them have been absolute class for the Giants, without them they'd be basement dwellers.

Halladay was about as near perfect as i've ever seen him last night in shutting out the Yankees.

Masterclass wasn't it, almost enough to make Cashman think about an off season trade, I hope.

Giambi has been a good pick up for the Rockies, he can certainly still hit well

Then there gonna want Hughes and Joba which isn't going happen

I actually don't think the Jays would try to dig Joba, they'd want Hughes though, as well as Montero no doubt, Austin Jackson, and I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to get Melky in a deal... But, as F-Red says...:

I don't know, anything is possible with Ricciardi

He desperately wants to reduce the wage bill, due to his own shite skills at drawing up contracts & focus more on bringing in the youngsters. Which is all well & good if the youth policy actually has the talent at major league level.

I honestly can't see Cito staying further than next year as well.

If the Jays are to improve, it needs to start by removing that clown Ricciardi first & to hold onto Doc Halladay.

There's more then that man, the issues with the Jays is much deeper then GM and finances.

1. Scouting - There's ZERO investment in international prospects, I think you guys have one... ONE player from outside the US and Canada in your Top 20 prospectus... it's a shame because being the only organization in Canada you should use that coast to coast and tap into it.

2. Prospect development - ROADBLOCK every single player coming through the system... Now it looks like you guys are getting some homegrown value finally, so hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

3. Promote J.P. Arencibia NOW !!! - This kid has all the trimmings to be the young catcher for a young and up coming pitching staff... his bat isn't good but his D is amazing.

4. Make a splash in FA... and by a splash, use those Rios dollars to get someone in their prime, not Scott Rolen or David Eckstein.

Honest to god there's ALOT of tools there, maybe JP will come to his sences, but I think a new guy is needed

Montero and Jackson are locks, no chance they are going to trade them away and Hughes and Joba have huge potential, I guess thats the compromise if you want a guy like Doc.I would trade Melky in a heartbeat though.

Why not speculate on 2010 free agents, not a big bunch of big names really but a few who are interesting. Personally I am hoping the Yanks keep hold of Damon, Pettitte and Hairston, not likely to keep hold of Nady, Matsui will probably take arbitration, but mainly keep hold of Damon, please.

Even if Pettitte re-signs we still need another starter, who is there? John Lackey, Bedard, Harden, Washburn?
