I think he has a point if i'm honest.

At his best, he wasn't a player who shirked the physical part of the game tbh, not sure what hes like now though

He's definitely not that player this season. Whether its motivation, scared of being injured, or being instructed to I don't know. But he just doesn't look like a Manchester United player right now.

Hopefully his future is decided one way or another in the very near future. Bayern admittedly look the most likely as of this moment but I hope we're in for him at least, other than the impossible targets like Pogba and Verratti there's only Schneirderlin I'd want more as our CM signing.

If the offer from Bayern for him is right that hangs around in the medium - it is more an offer like we do not say no but do not really try hard. 3 years for an 8-million-EUR contract or 5 years for 6 million. The conditions of that five-year-offer do not really beat that what he could have had at Dortmund.

Hargreaves really does not seem to like him! Does he have a sister Gundogan slept with and never called back or something?

Can't say I noticed that, he told the same story he did during the semi final where he talked about saying to Schweinsteiger that he thought Gundogan was the best player in the CL final a couple of years ago. Now granted I think he trots that and other stories out to mainly get the chance to mention he's buddies with Bastian, but the key issue he has with Gundogan and Hummels seems more to be with him thinking they are not a good fit for the PL, mainly because we are the ones linked with them IMO.

As for today Gundogan didn't affect the game much but both commentators seemed to feel he was being wasted in a role that shackled him from getting on the ball further up the pitch.

If they think he'll never get back to his pre-injury level then selling him to Bayern would be smart.

Watching him, and the rest of the Dortmund team last night was sad. I wanted Klopp to go out on a high but they were as disappointing as they have been all season. Guys like Gundogan, Hummels and Reus should be in their peak years but they often play like former greats now in their 30s.

Looking more likely that he will join Bayern.
Why do people keep saying this? Genuine question. Have I missed something? I've only seen Bild report it who aren't particularly reliable.

Would be pretty dickish of him to join Bayern, after the patience Dortmund demonstrated to Gundogan while he was out injured. He's not a Dortmund boy so can't really expect total loyalty but I'll be very surprised if he does go there.

Hence why I think it's between us, Arsenal and Barca January 2016.

Who cares about Gündogan, at the moment not good enough. We just hope he can recover to his best, thats a huge risk. Lets buy Strootman and hope he recovers too while we are at it. I wouldnt be sad at losing out to Bayern, he needs much more than just regaining fitness to get to his best.

I'm wondering with these Bastian rumours if Gundogan is replacing him before we sign him.

All gone too quiet on this front

The patience that Dortmund demonstrated?

Actually he did not cost anything for Dortmund as long he was injured. It was either the FIFA insurance who paid him from day one of the injury or that combined with no wage after day 42 (German law - after 42 days of injury wage payment ends - social security with a capped amout takes over).

If they would have let his contract ran out they would have had no chance of a transfer sum... They got him for 5 millions 4 years ago and he was not on a big wage...

Der Westen have again reiterated that Gundogan is most likely to come here. I'm always inclined to trust a source that sticks to its guns. The sources reporting Bayern and Barca seem to have switched between all 3.

I'm just hoping Der Westen's source knows their shit.

I dont know, personally i would say Bayern are the closest, but then again, he was apparently having a medical at Barca. I dont think Barca is realistic, see transfer ban. That leaves us or Bayern. Bild say Bayern, Der Westen say United.

I think if Barca were going for a midfielder, it might be Pogba with a view to him staying at Juve for next season. I think Blanc has hinted as much in an interview today.

Busquets, Iniesta and Pogba playing behind a three of Suarez, Messi and Neymar would be just insane.

Wouldn't surprise me if they ended up being the first team to retain the champions league with that line-up.

I think Barca is banned until January 2016, right? Which would mean Pogba is probably cup tied, so he'd only move the season thereafter.

Unless of course you're just referring to a general point of Barca winning and retaining the UCL in future? By then. Iniesta would probably not be playing anymore. But yeah, sick lineup.

Edit: fixed date thanks @VanGaalEra

Fecking hope so, imagine Barca signing no players for the next 900 years! Now just for Madrid.

Seems like they may get Höjbjerg in return. Can't say I know how highly rated he is though
That would be a win-win situation for both clubs. Bayern get a great midfielder in Gundogan and Dortmund get a very promosing young replacement who they can develop for a couple of years until he is ready to replace Gundo at Bayern (for a free transfer of course).

Seems like BILD tomorrow will tell that there will not be a Gündogan to Bayern transfer. He wanted too much money and whereas Sammer and Reschke wanted a transfer, Pep and Kalle weren't so keen on it.

So - it is your turn...

OK, so if we did sign both (big if I know) and all were fit, who is first choice out of Carrick, Gundogan, Schneiderlin and Herrera? Surely only three of them plays at the max?

Whoever is fittest and in form. It's pointless choosing a name on paper. It depends what Van Gaal sees in training.

The chances are at least one of them will carry a knock for long periods.

Surely not? BILD spewing complete garbage and changing their story?! Der Westen still seem like the most credible source on this one.

Had enough of tinkering, the best teams have an established best XI and stick to it every game - look at Chelsea for example last season.

No idea. We'd finally have a top class midfield though. One that's infinitely superior to the 'Cleverley is first choice somehow' era.
Remember that brief period when some people thought that Cleverley and Anderson might be a great partnership!!?
