I wouldnt be sad seeing him go to Bayern. It is written in the stars if he will return to his best. In this form, we can find similar or better.
I know right, hope these Bayern rumours go the same way as the Depay PSG/Liverpool ones. That's quite mouth-watering midfield alright Riz

Yeh thinking about it you're spot on, they were both interested and it'll be a lot harder to fend off Bayern than PSG, throw in the fact he's German and we're facing a losing battle.Shit thing is man, the rumours about Depay were on the money.
Hard not to get our hopes up with all these links with top players, but i can see why so many on here decide to stay the hell away from the Transfer Forums - it always seems to turn into a head-f*ck for all of us..

If only our talent pool was similar to theirs..Top German players seem to be home-birds (bar Kroos & Khedira) & you cant blame them for that. Also, if you're a German player - you have the old adage "when Bayern come calling.." - much like we have with United in English football..
We are obviously getting Schweinstiger. Can't argue with that.
Difference with Depay was we knew if LVG wanted him he will get him because of the Dutch connection. There's no connection here at all....I know right, hope these Bayern rumours go the same way as the Depay PSG/Liverpool ones.
Bollocks. Did you not hear his girlfriend's masseuse's brother in law used to work for David Gill's wife's favourite chef? There were pictures leaked on goal.com and everything.Difference with Depay was we knew if LVG wanted him he will get him because of the Dutch connection. There's no connection here at all....

If it is true then surely even Bayern can see that this isn't healthy for their league, ultimately it'll all become a bit boring.
I always thought Gundogan was quoted as saying he wanted to move abroad, so not believing the Bayern story just yet.

If we were able to sign Matic, Hazard and Aguero this summer and take Azpilicueta and David Silva the next I doubt we'd care about how competitive the league would be.
This is true and if it wasn't for our takeover, and the Russian, then Arab money then it could well have been a very similar set up in the PL, maybe even more so as I reckon we could well have won the last 10 titles if it wasn't for the above, but then the premiership wouldn't have become what it is today, and probably a lot of people would have got bored along time ago.
Competition is good it's just hard sometimes to admit it.
Yeah, matter of fact I did, my milkman's neighbours sisters husband went to school with the waiter in the restaurant where Gundogans girlfriends masseuse's brother-in-law used to work for Gills wife's favourite chef.Bollocks. Who could ever get bored of Manchester United winning the league every year?!
Again, why does this look likely now? As far as I'm concerned the most likely destination is the Premier League.Bit gutted if we miss out on him, which looks likely now.
But schweinstiger would make me feel a whole lot happier. A proven veteran german CM in a united shirt? Yes please.
Can't we get martinez... I think he would be awesome in the premier league especially with herreraWe are obviously getting Schweinstiger. Can't argue with that.

The most recent rumour relating to Gundogan going to Bayern comes from jan aage fjortoft, an ex footballer who seemed to have built a reputation on being one of the first to announce the Ozil to Arsenal transfer. About a month ago he said Gundogan was coming to us, about 2 weeks ago he said it was between Atletico and Arsenal, and now he's going to Bayern as part of a swap deal (the ever popular swap deal rumour despite it almost never happening). A lot of people sourced this to a comment made by Bayern sporting director Sammer, he was quoted as saying Gundogan was an interesting player. In that same interview he also called Di Maria wonderful, De Bruyne fantastic and Griezmann great, hardly a revelation. If you have an answer to your question, I'm also interested.
Progressive rumours, twitter, websites, all we have to go off at this point. 'Looks likely' was a poor choice of words. 'The way talk is going at the moment' would push it that way.Again, why does this look likely now? As far as I'm concerned the most likely destination is the Premier League.

And when you look at dortmunds sales to bayern...just gives me a bad feeling.
Not a problem. We really don't know where he'll end up, he's such an anomaly because we all know what a quality player he was before his back injury, we just don't know what club will be willing to take a risk on him returning to that level. We seemed most likely for a while because of the Der Westen pieces, they aren't know for random rumours and they have stuck to their guns up until this point. Under LVG we also seem to keep our cards close to the chest so most leaks come from the selling club and not from our end, recently it seems transfers go cold around us until we actually make the signing too. I don't know, We will see.@ivaldo Thanks, for the summary.
I really don't know why people are doing that to themselves, from the beginning this Gundogan saga was shady. No one knows exactly what he wants and who wants him.
It's so weird how that's such a big deal on the Caf. Dortmund signed Castro from Leverkusen, Wolfsburg Kruse from Gladbach, Kramer moves back to Leverkusen from Gladbach and no one cares. That's already 3 transfers between German top clubs this summer without Bayern being involved in it. Yet if Bayern signs a player from the 7th placed team in the league, we're supposedly ruining everything. Players move between top teams in the Bundesliga all the time. The rivalries aren't as strong as they are in England. Dortmund signed Reus from Gladbach when Gladbach finished in the top 4 3 years ago, but no one cared either. If it is true then surely even Bayern can see that this isn't healthy for their league, ultimately it'll all become a bit boring.
Sounds about right.Owen feckin' Hargreaves.
I think its just because Hargreaves is a bitter idiotHargreaves really does not seem to like him! Does he have a sister Gundogan slept with and never called back or something?

Gündogan wants to leave this summer, so the most important thing for Dortmund is to get as much money as possible. I don't want us to sign him for various reasons, but if we pay more than United, it's better for Dortmund if he moves to us. It's really that simple. It doesn't matter one bit for the competitiveness of the league where Gündogan goes as long as he leaves anyway. Dortmund or all the 2nd tier German teams need to continue to grow financially so that they get into a position where they can keep their players. A stupid 'we only sell abroad' attitude won't help them to achieve that goal. When Leverkusen denied Vidal the move to Bayern and sold him on the cheap to Juve instead, they gained feck all. We signed Martinez soon after and Leverkusen was left far behind anyway. Yet according to many people, that's the way to keep the league healthy? It makes zero sense, non at all.
Regarding the rumours:
If we buy Gündogan and let Hojbjerg leave to Dortmund, I'm really pissed. That would be such a stupid move. I'm not even sure how we would fit Gündogan, Alaba and Thiago into the same midfield anyway, they're all kinda similar in how they want to play, but we need a replacement for Schweinsteiger/Alonso. We should keep our midfielders, decide how we want to use Martinez and Alaba, give Hojbjerg and Gaudino significantly more playing time and if neither of those two is good enough to trust longterm, buy Xhaka or Geis next year.
