Neither is. The one on the left is Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund's CEO. The one on the right is Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern's CEO (I thought, everyone knows him).
either. Dortmund CEO.
Sorry chaps, I was trying to make the point (evidently now rather poorly :nervous:) that the panic seems to be over a picture of two men leaving together, neither of which are Gundogan or his agent. Nothing here suggests it's got anything to do with Ilkay whatsoever.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, Dortmund did not insert a release clause willingly into 2 of their biggest talent's contracts and that they didnt just forget to renew Lewandowskis's and Kagawa's?

They pissed the league and reached the CL final playing great football, your telling me they couldn't have sorted their best players contracts out at that time? maybe, just maybe they should learn how to deal with players contracts better then they wont have to sell another 'star' player every summer.

they could have, they didn't want to, and even elaborated on why not. It was more or less the descision between taking a big risk -undermining their current salary expenses balance- to -maybe- maintain success at the then-current level, or to take a sensible approach, i.e. letting players that have become too expensive go, for the benefit of a sound financial basis. They picked option two because of their not so long ago near-bancrupcy, which is understandable.
They may be found guilty of kidding themselves and their supporters about being capable of playing at top european level without spending as much money as the rest in the pond are.

I'm still unsure about what is going to happen, but I will be disappointed if he joins Bayern, I really like this player.

Two men share a deep, public roast, as they discuss the logistics going dogging.

I believe Der Westen for now. This is just a picture, they could have discussed everything, from Reus to Bundesliga stuff. Bild just speculate, they wrote they could have met to discuss Gündogan. They dont have a clue, just guessing.

Martinez is DM/CB while gundogan is a #8/#10.

Ive seen Gundogan play deeper and spray passes around for fun. I just find it strange that Bayern would be interested in him when they have. Javi Martintez, Xabi Alonso, Thiago, Schweinseiger, Lahm, Weiser, Rode and Gaudino. and not to mention Muller and Gotze who sometimes play #10 roles.

Martinez and Thiago are crocks, Schweinsteiger is a crock and old, Alonso is old and Lahm doesn't get younger either and should be played at fullback. So of course they have a lot of numbers, but it would make sense to add another midfielder in the next 1,2 years to be honest. That said if Gündogan is the right one after his long injury is another question.

Can the cause of the thread title changes be thread marked, so we can quickly find what everyone's talking about without having to scroll through pages?

I would quite like this too

Also btw the picture says nothing.

They meet each other for a peaceful talk after all the bad words in the last 2 years. It was a tradition before and they decided to meet again and solve the issues. Nothing to do with Gündogan, just pure speculation that they could have talked about him too. The picture doesn't belong to a article about Gündogan at all, it's about their "Friedens-Essen"

Gündogan won't join Bayern, it just doesn't make any sense. Dortmund would much rather sell him abroad, Bayern don't need a number 8 and the relationship between the two clubs is bad enough as it is, and both sides are aiming to calm the tensions a bit.
England is most likely as I can't see Barcelona or Real being interested.

I suppose that you also saw, Carrick play well as a centerback or Rooney play well as a CM, that doesn't that it's their positions. Gundogan plays higher than Javi Martinez.

Reading the new thread title I thought Gündogan was having a coffee with Özil and therefore the Caf assumed he was a done deal for Arsenal.

Agreed. People jump to conclusions far too quickly, especially during transfer sagas. Dortmund selling to Bayern doesn't make any sense, unless Gundogan himself has informed the club that he'd only join Bayern Munich either this or next summer (just like Lewandowski). If that's the case, then selling this summer is by far the best choice, as they've already said that they won't let another ''Lewandowski'' happen (losing him for free). After all, they can't make Gundogan join another club. If he wants to join Bayern, he'll do it either now or next year. That's the sad fact, footballers hold all the aces nowadays, especially when their contracts are due to expire soon. It's the same thing with De Gea.

If United has a legitimate offer on the table for Gundogan, and even if Bayern has an offer, I imagine Dortmund would much rather sell him to us.

Dortmund might want to keep their masters happy. Ridiculous how all their best players seem to head to Bayern

Yes but if Gundogan prefers Bayern he can just refuse our offer. He only has a year left on his contract so Dortmund would probably prefer to sell him to Bayern this season rather thna lose him for free the season after.

I still think we have already signed Depay and hummels.... Gundogan will sign if we really want him.

Serious question, who has ever failed a medical?

There are probably loads of incidents and I just dont know about them. But I cant recall it ever happening to my knowledge. Did RVN fail a medical for us? Or was it blindingly obvious he was injured and he didnt even bother to have one?
Didn't Victor Valdes fail a medical at Monaco if I recall correctly.

I have no opinion on this really but there isn't a single British source confirming our interest, is there? Beyond ESPN saying we have a slightly interest, or whatever it was. I know folks on here love the idea that the media doesn't have a clue, but I'd suggest the obvious media briefings of the last few days regarding other players should put that to bed.

Remy at Liverpool and Aly Cissokho at Milan are 2 recent ones I can remember.

Sky Sources.

Sky Sources.
They don't count. 'Sky Sources' are always second to every story, if for no other reason that their 'sources' are other media outlets. They've clearly followed the German story. Which, of course, might not be incorrect. But it looks to me like people might be getting excited about a deal that was never going to happen.

Success for a year or 2 doesnt result in players lining up to remove release clauses or renew deals that has a year left when they're aware a move to Bayern Munich and the riches that come with it would be on the cards. See the wages Gotze is on at Bayern, Dortmund have no hope in hell of matching that. Ditto Lewandowski. Those are the 2 they lost. In Gundogan's case, again, if clubs like us or Bayern have contacted his agent, he will not renew. They did sign an extension last year but the uncertainty over his injury was far too high to give him a long deal. Its just unfortunate for them that as soon as he's been fit enough, Gundogan has jumped at the chance to move rather than stick around the club that have supported him. I dont really blame him either but that's a different point.

Everything about the story suggests that the leak is from the player's agent. It's not surprising there are no British sources.

The lack of British sources is encouraging for me. How the hell would our papers know what's going on in Germany before the German papers do?

We're not the centre of the universe. The Empire doesn't exist anymore guys ffs. Text

Why do they want Xhaka and Gundogan?

People need to calm down. We will get him.

How about paying bigger contracts and not agreeing to stupid release clauses. Or tell players if they have a release clause it has to be outside the Bundesliga. You know anything that would help them stay competitive. Its not rocket science.
Well what if players refuse to accept these limitations in their contract? Then they lose them anyways?

I think we will get him, but even if we dont, there are still enough options on the market (Schneiderlin, Pogba or Xhaka for example)
