Serious question, who has ever failed a medical?

There are probably loads of incidents and I just dont know about them. But I cant recall it ever happening to my knowledge. Did RVN fail a medical for us? Or was it blindingly obvious he was injured and he didnt even bother to have one?

Gundogan going to Bayern was fairly obvious. Luckily I placed my bets at 12/1. Soon as its official I'm in the monayyyyy

Loic Remy failed a medical at Liverpool last transfer window didn't he? Tim Matavz from PSV failed a medical at some Russian club 2 years ago too. A player in the Dutch league too, Evander Sno. He failed a medical due to heart problems. Just from the top of my head.

Remy and Ba recently. There was also Cissokho who failed a teeth medical

fecking pair of jizzcocks if i've ever seen them.

Goalkeepers are generally worth a lot less in the market, isn't De Gea at £18m the most expensive keeper in the world?

But I do agree that he should be worth a lot more than €30m regardless.

I think what @FlawlessThaw said on the other thread makes a lot of sense. Quoting it here:

It's not even just that, it's just Gundogan going from Dortmund has a number of better options at his door. For De Gea, leaving United for Madrid given his personal situation means that they are the only bidder and because of that they can drive his price down with only a year left on his contract.

Theoretically if it was simply a case of De Gea just wanting to leave for more money/a better club and the likes of Bayern, Barca or Juventus were involved, then the price would be higher.

Congratulations with your 120 pounds. Manchester's street markets better get ready, some mental splurging incoming this summer...

Wait, so 2 high power German CEO's have a lunch meeting and all of a sudden Gundogan is signed, sealed and delivered?

These sort of meetings happen all the time I bet, they are probably close friends. Surely an agent would be present too if that was the case.

i think Valdes failed one at Monaco too last summer.

Dortmund sicken me. The only club that has a chance of standing up to Bayern in Germany and they roll over to get their bellies tickled every fecking time

Lewandowski left on a free transfer. Dortmund actually refused to sell to Bayern in the final year and let him go for free.

Gotze had a release clause and Bayern activated it.

Not sure what you expect them to do. You really think not selling to their biggest rivals is some genius idea only you could think of?

How about paying bigger contracts and not agreeing to stupid release clauses. Or tell players if they have a release clause it has to be outside the Bundesliga. You know anything that would help them stay competitive. Its not rocket science.

RvN failed his medical in the summer of 2000. Within days he did his knee ligaments and was out for the best part of a year.

Expect our doctor got a nice bonus that year.

No club agrees to release clauses willingly. After what Dortmund had gone through financially, the club's financial well being comes before any player and rightly so. They have a wage structure and did not go above that back then. This resulted in some top players demanding for release clauses which they had to agree to unwillingly. No club puts such clauses because they want to. Now that things have improved, no player at Dortmund has a release clause in the contract as far as I know.

All of this becomes quite simple when you realize that people much smarter than the average caf poster and far more concerned about what's good for Dortmund take these calls for the club. If there's a release clause in a player like Gotze's case, you can be sure that it was a last resort after they tried everything possible within permissable limits to not have one. We lost Pogba because Sir Alex wouldnt give guaranteed game time, Barca lost Thiago because they couldnt give him the minimum required number of matches due to a tough run in, these things happen.

Two guys meet and the German equivalent of the Mirror guesses at what they discussed - that's all it takes to break muppet hearts.

Not every club has unlimited resources like United.

Why would Bayern even want Gundogan? Are they short on midfielders all of a sudden? He's a big talent but still has to show that he can get back to his best. I wouldn't have expected Bayern to bother with their riches.

Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Alonso aren't getting any younger. They have alot of injury prone midfielders too - Javi Martinez, Thiago, Schweinsteiger.

Ruud van Nistelrooy failed his medical with us the first time.

Coaches like Guardiola and Van gaal are always short on midfielders.

IF Bayern want to sign him is there any doubting his quality? For some reason not everyone rates certain players until bigger clubs are after them.

They have 3 that are 30+ and the 2 young ones are both completely attack minded and have had injuries. Plus they like to stock CMs

Yeah true enough I guess. If only we gave such care to our midfield in Fergies latter years!

Not sure it would be the right move for the player. Some tough competition for places in the immediate future, when he could do with being a first XI mainstay if he wants to get back to his best in my opinion. Not that players tend to give any thought to such considerations.

Agreed, however from his perspective he's a lot more likely to win a title or the champions league at Bayern. And you never know in the summer they might make some changes to their midfield options to make him more of an automatic starter

We need to position ourselves better IMO. Either we lose players to City as they were won over "by the project" or we lose players to bayern as they want to play their part in a continuation process..i.e. they won the season last season without me, will win it next season without me, but I'm going anyway to assist with that process. When we get top talent ala dI Maria and Falcao you have Balague saying they dont actually want to be here. Can I have examples of where a player chose us and said "I was only ever interested in United because growing up they dominated English Football for 20 years in fine style....long live Sir Bobby"?

BVB is not a small club, look at the crowds they get.
They still have to follow a strict wage budget. Agreeing to release clauses? IIRC Goetze didn't want to sign a new contract unless a release clause was put in. So what should they do in that situation? The same thing could be happening now with De Gea. If he refuses to sign a new contract unless we put a release clause in, what do you want the club to do? Let him go on a free next summer?

If he does go to Bayern then perhaps some of their young players like Hojberg and Gaudino might be available

I will be annoyed if he joined Bayern, however the muppet in me sees that as an opportunity to sign Martinez or that Danish guy.a

Gundogan and Hummels are both cat D players. Not that interested in either I must say.

What if the Klopp to Bayern rumours are true...

I don't think Bayern will sell Hojbjerg while Guardiola is still there. In his Bayern book, he said Hojbjerg was one of the players that Guardiola had highest hopes for. Gave him personal tutoring and all that.
