I don't think Bayern will sell Hojbjerg while Guardiola is still there. In his Bayern book, he said Hojbjerg was one of the players that Guardiola had highest hopes for. Gave him personal tutoring and all that.

Which is all very well, but if he's not going to get a look-in at starting each week he's not going to be happy.

BVB is not a small club, look at the crowds they get.

Their tickets cost about £18 a match, if that. It actually costs around as much to fly to Dortmund of a match and then home as it does to go and watch United or other teams in the PL...

Id feel very sorry for Dortmund fans if that happened.

Why the hierachy at Dortmund would probably fly him there with their greaseball smirks!
Fergie wouldnt let Heinze go to Liverpool. Gundogan has a year left. They can stop him going to Bayern this summer.

Apparently alot of English do actually make that journey as well just to watch the football!

Season tickets are dirt cheap there, I was in Dusseldorf last year talking to some Schalke fans and I think they said they pay around £150 for a season ticket, though I could be mis-recalling. Either way it was a lot cheaper than the cheapest season ticket at Old Trafford and given the flights, it works out to around the same price if not cheaper.

What if the Klopp to Bayern rumours are true...

It reminds me of a conversation I had with a bloke in the pub a few years back. He watched the odd local game and played when he was young but had no interest in following football other than catching the World Cup or Euro's. He kept saying it was an irrelevant game and the tribalism was ridiculous if you actually think about it. One week you support Team A and Player Y is hated because he's playing for Team B and scoring for them, the next Player Y is your favourite because he's signed for Team A and scoring goals for you. This was before Van Persie joined us but he's the perfect example of that.

I argued that it was relevant because the club earns the money to buy players through success and hard work and that player is attracted to that status and history. He then asked what would happen if both teams swap all their players, which is implausible but possible. If Team A wins the league with the players that were at Team B the year before, who celebrates? I thought it was a ridiculous argument at the time but I sort of see what he is saying now if next season you see Bayern lining up with Dortmund's striker, attacking midfielder and centre midfielder and who knows they might even chase Reus too and have Klopp managing them.

That said, their revenues are still immense. 11th highest, and not far from Arsenal and Liverpool

I'm not saying they're not big, I'm just saying their attendances aren't necessarily a good indicator. It's a good (cheap) day out for anyone who likes football.

People support clubs not individuals (well, for the most part), hence the old adage 'no player is bigger than the club'. In the extreme hypothetical that you outline nothing would change that. If all our players moved to City this summer and won the league do you think for one minute that any United fan would be in the least bit pleased?

Their financial situation has changed in the last few years which has translated to contracts as well, none of their players have a release clause now. The situation wasnt the same years back when clauses were put in Gotze and Reus contracts.

Dortmund sicken me. The only club that has a chance of standing up to Bayern in Germany and they roll over to get their bellies tickled every fecking time

I don't agree with that. It all comes down to money. By virtue of the fact that Wolfsburg are the next richest and are being bankrolled by VW, they are the only team capable of standing up to Bayern.

This is fantastic
Agreed. We miss out on a player we shouldn't be signing and Bayern get another crock. I'm very, very pleased with how this is turning out.

Yeah that's really cool for their supporters and football fans in Germany in general.

That's interesting, I keep forgetting about their financial troubles from just a decade ago

I don't really care who gets Gündogan at the moment. I just enjoy reading this thread. It's especially funny after 2 years of public fighting between Watzke and Rummenigge and throwing silly accusations at each other through the media. They publicly canceled dinners before and after matches to tell the world how much they dislike each other. Even without the meltdown here it would be funny to see a picture of them getting a coffee together.

I guess we have Hummels, Gündogan and Reus in the bag . I actually don't want any of them at Bayern, but well, what can you do.

Feck me the Prem is shit these days but the Bundesliga is a complete joke. Dortmund build a really good team then sell half of them off to their biggest rivals, best part is they got completely ripped off on every deal.

It's weird though, it's like Dortmund are buzzing at the thought of Bayern being interested in their players, I don't know they're either really small time or they just cant be bothered putting up a fight. So if this goes through they will have signed Goetze, Lewandowski and Gundogan for a fee roughly around the 50m mark?

You;d be right and if we get Pogba, Bale and Varane you will have faired badly in comparison......:)

Which one in the picture is Gundogan/Gundogans agent?

It wouldnt be this weird if you knew why Dortmund have been helpless to stop both Lewa and Gotze.

Neither. Dortmund CEO.

Neither is. The one on the left is Hans-Joachim Watzke, Dortmund's CEO. The one on the right is Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern's CEO (I thought, everyone knows him).

Bayern have been somewhat my second team for as long as I can remember, I'm a fan of German football and I always want them to win if United don't. This whole Bayern taking players of Rivals and being called pricks for it is uncalled for. Bayern is the only team in Germany capable of remaining successful for a long period and they are seen as the epitome of German football by almost every German player, that's how you know you've made it in GGermany. However, I am desperate for us to sign some German players and it's annoying that you lot just hoover them all

Growing up in Germany in the late 70s/early 80s, Bayern were my team as well and Rummenigge was my idol (we in fact share the same birthday).

I don't care that much where he ends up especially since this just exploded last Friday. If it's not Gündoğan then we'll buy someone else.

Gotze had a really low buyout clause in his contract, again really shitty management on the part of Dortmund and they let Lewandowski reach the end of his contract. You look at the Gundogan situation and the same happened with Kagawa and almost Reus its daft.

Reus must be wondering why the feck he signed a new deal, he's seeing player after player leave and even the Klopp is gone in the summer its a circus.

Im getting off-topic anyway so ill leave it there.

My dad really like Rummenigge, my personal favourites growing up were Kopke, Klinsmann, Bierhoff (his goal in euro 96 is one of my earliest football memories) and Ballack :nervous:

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe, just maybe, Dortmund did not insert a release clause willingly into 2 of their biggest talent's contracts and that they didnt just forget to renew Lewandowskis's and Kagawa's?

Its amazing how people are throwing in the towel because of a photograph of two men in a coffee shop. Nice to see United's Never Die spirit extends beyond the team right down to the cyber-fanbase.

Can the cause of the thread title changes be thread marked, so we can quickly find what everyone's talking about without having to scroll through pages?
