Oh what a nice story to wake up to. Come on Woody. Get his signature before his chooses L' Arse.

Has he been linked to Arsenal through any reliable sources? I thought it was between us and Bayern.

Anything concrete that we are? Must have missed it.
Der Westen has been reporting for days that he is going to join us. They are supposed to be reliable. Not to mention Sky Sports reported it last week as well.

Fine, you don't have to yell at me.

If your suggesting we bring in Gundogan as Cleverleys squad replacement then I'm for it. But only if its coupled with an elite player who will come in and go straight into the first team.

Maybe van Gaal sees him as a replacement for Carrick? If his mobility is affected long term he'll still have the passing range and vision he's naturally blessed with. Let Carrick show him the ropes as he winds down..

Really hope we get him, the way I see it it'll go 1 of 3 ways:
1. Disaster: injury recurs or has lasting impact and he regresses from his current level.
2. Maintains current level: He never fully hits the height of his pre injury form but rather stays at a similar level to what he's played this season but with better fitness.
3. Returns with a vengeance: recaptures his old form and is back to being one of the best midfielders on the planet.

Think scenario 1 can happen to any signing and apart from his freak back injury he's not necessarily injury prone, plus from all reports he's made a full recovery and now it's just a question of regaining fitness. If it's scenario 2 we'll spend £20m on a player that lifts the quality of the squad, with European football we'll need more cover (just look at how Carrick and Blind's simaltaneousl injuries affected us). If 3 happens... then what a steal.

With him being in the last year of his contract having played a year into his recovery I think he's well worth the punt. Put it this way, I'd be gutted if Arsenal sign him.

Because he is hardly the physical type like Strootman who was nailed in to come! He's clearly not the player he was pre injury. Its a flick of a coin whether he'll return to his best or become another Anderson. For a manger only here most likely for another 2 seasons there's alot of reasons he woouldnt be gambling anything on Gundogan!
Well no one is. Its take time. But he has been good this season. Any physical fitness concerns that we might have has been eased with him playing quite a lot this season. He has also scored 3 goals and he just 120 minutes last night against Bayern. I think he is getting back to fitness and form. With a pre-season under his belt and depth in our squad, I think he will be a starter here for sure.

Dont think its going to be Bayern. Arsenal havent been as strongly linked as us but they do have quite a few Germans. Plus its London. So it is a very possible destination.

His current season definitely wasn't CL material.

What I'm saying is that I've seen him play this season and Gundogan would be our third best midfielder behind Herrera and Carrick, in august.
I agree with you we need someone else but I don't think that we need an elite midfielder, give me Schneiderlin, Nainggolan or Saul and we are more than fine.

Get in!

We've already negotiated a contract with him few days back, Bvb are just getting that official confirmation from his advisors.

Bayern might have been put in there by the media for the dramatic effect or to have a dig at Dortmund potentially losing one of their players to their main rivals yet again. This one is between us and Arsenal and if we are to believe Der Western which are considered quite reliable and in the know when it comes to Dortmund, Sky Sports Germany and Sky Sports news from the UK, he's likely to be our signings. Der Westen have been consistently reiterating that we're going to sign him and today they've reported that we're ready to pay €30m when his market price is €20m.

Midfield isn't a problem for Arsenal, they're practically stacked in there. Even for playing time, I think Gundogan would prefer coming here.

I watched that game. He would not be a starter in the PL moving around like that my friend no chance. I know he was the best player on the pitch in that CL final but he's ambling around the centre circle like Howard the Duck in comparison to that.

They are Elite to me! I'm used to Cleverley and Anderson for gods sake ;)

I didnt say it was. This season wasnt about proving his form, it was about his fitness and I think he has done a damn good job of it.

Just because he's played minutes doesn't mean he's proved his fitness. It's pretty clear from watching him that he still has a lot of work to do fitness wise if he's going to be a first choice midfielder for a top PL side. Whoever gets him will be willing to take that gamble.

By the time next season rolls around, he is going to be in better shape and form. We are talking almost 5 months from now. He will be whipped up in shape by LVG over preseason and he will suit our system. Blind and Shaw can fight for the LB spot. I think if he signs, its to a long term replacement for Carrick.

His current season definitely wasn't CL material.

For Dortmund it wasn't, but in my opinion it's due to the fact that Dortmund play an extremely energetic game, every players take care of a great surface and at an extremely high intensity. United midfield is different, the midfielders have to run less at high speed, it's a more technical, positional oriented game.

Give me the definition of an elite player if Gundogan isn't one. He was injured until October, he was overweight and of course had no pre-season. This time around he will have a full preseason and conditioning training with us before next season starts should he sign. He will get back to 100% fitness.

Of course its a gamble but its one definitely worth taking. For 20m, I would take a chance on him. For 50m definitely not.

I agree, but I'd add or Xhaka!

Thanks to skybet I am rich if he joins Bayern, rich if he joins Arsenal and happy anyway if he joins United.

The only way I can really lose is if he joins City or the scouse. But then I imagine he is leaving for CL football so joining Liverpool would be stupid.

I'm not getting sucked in.

Even if we sign him you just know he will get a bad injury soon after he joins.

If that was assured...we wouldnt be getting him.

Wait until it starts kicking in and you see him holding our red shirt next to van Gaal, you will be running around your room and screaming just moments after.

Agree with this, think Schneiderlin would be perfect for us, but Gundogan gets his form back then we'll have something very special.
