What does this actually mean? The other option would have been to release him by paying every cent until the end of the contract.

I think they mean his injury problems. He had a bad first year also, but scored a goal in the cup semi final, since then he really flourished.

I know that, but every club stands by player when he is injured. After all, there is no other option, the player has a valid contract.

By the way, for those wondering what contact United made with Dortmund in November, check out Marco Reus' Twitter handle...

@woodyinho :lol:

That is what people say, we stood by him. People say also we stood by De Gea or Fletcher.

They renewed his contract while he still was injured and his future undecided in terms of coming back. Otherwise, he would have immense pressure and if he didnt make it back, he would be without a club by now. Obviously, someone would have snapped him up or they would have given him an extension after coming back, but it is still a sign of confidence.

I fint that stupid too. Fletcher was under contract and De Gea was a 20m signing with potential to be a great keeper. We stood by him cause we expected that the payoff will be better than just selling him for a few quid.

If BVB wouldn't renew that extra year (you see, it was a year extension, not five) then now Gundogan would have left and they wouldn't get a cent for it. Extending his cotract benefited both him and the club. It wasn't altruistic (same as us standing by De Gea).

Why would any team pay 30m (or was it 25m) for him at this stage? I recall he is on his last year of contract. Makes no sense at all. United wasted a lot of money on transfers recently, this looks like another one in making.

gündogan recently confirmed that dortmund even sent him to a russian military hospital on the (at that time war-torn) peninsula of crimea, back in 2014 that was. i still find this hilarious, to say the least.

Why did they do that?

This whole 'saga' is getting weird.

And Xavi is actually Chilean.

Thats not to mention the transfer funds we already had in place for that summer DMC (without the Ronnie fee) + funds always being available for a "Marquee Signing" every summer..

I'm absolutely thrilled the club has changed its mantra on spending shitloads & attemptin to make us the club to come to. We've great young players at the club also..

I had this idea we'd get Ribery and David Villa in to replace Ronnie, instead we got the birth of "No value in the market" and alien from Bordeaux.

I agree, of course I hope to see Wilson, McNair and Januzaj make it here, but nothing wrong with a sprinkle of muppet dust added to squad each summer. :D

2010 takes a bit of beating for crapness.

Smalling was bought in January, Heranndez April, and Bebe plucked from thin air, good job I wasn't such a muppet that year!

Man I don't know how the bleakness of that transfer window didn't stick in my mind, I guess the second half of the season with Hernandez erased it.

it had, of course, to do with some rather desperate attempt of treatment and/or another evaluation on his severe, chronic spinal condition.
seems like he quite came around, consulting dozens of international back specialists and spine experts - which just so happened to also include an indeed SLIGHTLY ominous-sounding trip to a russian military hospital, somewhere in freakin' crimea.

long story short: everything failed in the end; and gündogan had to undergo a minor-yet-critical, hour-long spine surgery and has supposedly been pain-free ever since.

btw, reading his interview on the crimea anecdote etc, there's another segment in which he openly talks about how miserable to downright depressive he had become when going through the sometimes overwhelming lengths of his seemingly neverending, year-long spine fiasco. he briefly describes how he turned more and more antisocial, didn't want to leave his home and how his whole mind had, at some point, been absorbed by nothing but ever the same fears and thoughts about whether he'd once again be able to fully regain health - until he came to realize that his (mis)behaviour, during all these months, had been doing a lot of harm not only to himself, but to others, too - especially to his nonetheless supportive inner circle of girlfriend and family.

Vermaelen says hello.

That BVB CEO is a lying scumbag

Of course he is, why would he want to have it known that an asset is now as good as sold, hype it up in the news & get a bidding war going on, would be the sensible way forward for a club looking to sell.

I believe if the player is given the choice he'll join United. Is going to be an interesting summer, with hopefully deals all in place once the window opens.

The easiest way to get that bidding war is to say that yes Gundogan is looking to leave. And of course not taking our offer, instead waiting for more to come in

They should jump at the offer considering the player's history of injuries, and with about a year left to go on his contract. However, if we can keep him relatively healthy, he is a very classy player.

Vermaelen says hello.

Barca's recent transfer record are better compared to that of United, that's easy to see. And we haven't really missed Vermaelen so far. Pique has been rather excellent after 2 horror seasons, Mathieu has been okay and got us 2 very important goals, Masche can get the job done and we have Bartra as backup option. Vermaelen was bought simply beacuse we can't sign anyone next year, and we needed someone as bench strength. I doubt if we didn't have any transfer ban, he would have been signed under such circumstances.

Hardly the same apples-apples comparison, is it?

Has his updated ScoutNation video been posted?

If not, 12 mins of it here:

We pay bonuses for clubs/players/agents not mentioning anything about our interest or negotiations until a deals completed, I wouldnt be that worried yet by denials.

Given our recent drop off the cliff in form, mainly due to injury prone players getting injured(shock) we should stay well clear of any players who suffer frequently from injuries/are recovering from a major injury.

So were the rumours about him signing a contract this weekend false?

Because those reliable German sources were stating that:nervous:

I can top that :)

Dortmund's bosses and the coach are talking with the press about the rumour to re-sign Sahin from Real Madrid (He was on-loan at Liverpool) during their winter training camp in La Manga.....
Watzke: "I can only laugh about that. I can confirm that we haven't talked with Nuri or Real Madrid or Liverpool about the possibility to bring Nuri back to Dortmund."
Zorc: "I really don't want to talk about every rumour. And by the way this rumour comes only from the english papers....the same paper has said a few days ago that Sven Bender would join Manchester United this week. We have zero interest to sign Sahin."
Klopp: "That sucks and is absurd bullshit."

So reassuring :) I'm quite positive regarding this Gundogan deal but I'm not so sure about Depay anymore. Other clubs have proceeded to personal talks with him and his agent, why haven't we moved yet? I don't think he's our primary target and if we're hoping for Bale, we're just wasting time when we could get a wonderful player.

If it wasn't for all the speculation I really wouldn't care less about signing this guy, it must just be how muppetry works though because right now I am desperate we get him.

Engaging the brain for a moment surely he isn't the best bet given his injury, we just aren't lucky when taking a chance on things like that.

I'm not too bothered by the Depay situation, his first choice seems to be us, if we don't sign him it's because he dont want him.

No idea but if their goal is to create the longest possible video with the least possible action, they are doing a great job.

Bingo! Really annoys me.

A short video of a players best bits is so misleading imo. You watch Nani's and assume he's on the same level as Ronaldo.

Obviously you need to watch a player regularly to form a proper opinion on them, but I prefer Scout Nation's style than short best bit videos to get a quick idea on what a player's about.

So I've not been keeping tabs on this one but I take it's not happening seeing as though the weekends come and gone.
