It's probably been mentioned but can someone summarise his form and injury record since coming back.

No problem with injuries after that. I think he has been solid, still not at his old level, but better than I expected his first season after the injury to be honest.

This has sped up quite considerably. Not really a signing I expected, but it looks very fecking on now. Decent price at nearly £22 million. I know he has only a year left on his contract, but it's very good value for a guy considered a top quality centre-mid before his injury. Obviously the only question is if he can reach that level again, though his current level doesn't seem too bad. Not an expert on the player or the German league by any stretch of the imagination, but I approve. This transfer certainly excites me.

I haven't watched him at all to be honest but based on people's views on here, how is this going to work with Ander?? Seems like a definite clash which makes this a strange signing.

Not mine but I find it amusing...

I remember the rumours last season that he was considering retiring because of his injury. Hope that was a load of rubbish.

That would make sense tbf. But certainly goes against the 'Carrick replacement' theory.
I think the Carrick replacement theory is more about having a midfielder who can dictate the play.

Gundogan and hererra in the same midfield is going to be absolutely beautiful to watch! such a good pairing, and with somebody like carrick anchoring holy shit, potential for a complete overhaul in how effective our buildup play will be.

Good deal for all sides. Only a year and a bit left on his contract and injury concerns, so Dortmund are doing well to get €30M. Great deal for us as if he returns to his pre injury form, he'll be up there with the best midfielders in the league. If he doesn't...€30m is a drop in the ocean for us really.

Over the moon with this signing. Only downside is we won't get to see him at United for another 4 months.

I'd say there is close to zero chance we'll see a line-up like that. Carrick or Blind will always play.

True. Which makes you realise how potentially over-stocked we'd be. This doesn't even take into account whoever is still around out of Fellaini, Falcao, RVP, Young, Valencia, Wilson, Januzaj...

I know you need a bit squad for Europe, but that's quite some selection headaches!

Carrick, Ander and Di Maria wasn't balanced enough for van Gaal, switching Carrick out for Gundogan who doesn't shield the defense as much isn't suddenly going to be balanced. That line-up doesn't fit van Gaal's way of 4 creative players at all.

A sitting Gundogan and Herrera behind 4 creative players could still blow mediocre teams away when we're at home. I hope we see it. It's how Madrid and to a lesser extent Bayern put up their obscene point totals that should be our goal.

But you might well be right. Chelsea have 1 less point than us in 1 less home game, but 12 more points away in the same number of games. So we're probably at like an A or A- at home and a C- away with our standards (8th in the Prem).

Our problem has been less about battering teams at home and more about winning away, and Gundogan instead of Fellaini should with that.

The only thing that worries me is his injuries, but I assume that since van Gaal is (rightly so) obsessed by fitness that we have done our homework here.

On paper sure, but who knows how well a team like that will come together chemistry-wise, and is Gundogan much recovered since his injury? Would be great if he could get back to top form, but we don't want another Falcao on our hands.
Worst case: we'll win the paper league.

Gundogan has played more minutes than Herrera this season. He has also been decent (not excellent though). Considering that he's still very young, I don't think that he'll have problems. From what I have read, his 'injury' was something that when is gone, is gone.

that thread on blue moon is poetry. all of them going into absolute panic about how amazing our summer might turn out to be lol

Just remembered I've got a BlueMoon account, should really get in there and ruffle some feathers.

feck!!!! Thats that info fecked then! Tell you what im slightly nervous about the rags for next season! They are going to spend big again and with tixiki in charge of our buying feck knows who we'll end up with! Pissed off if the rags get him!

It's probably been mentioned but can someone summarise his form and injury record since coming back.
Since coming back from his back injury on the 18th October, he missed out one game against Bayer Leverkusen due to a hamstring injury. He completed 12 out of 19 games in the league, the others he usually came off around the 70/80th minute and was on the bench for 2 other games. Got 3 goals and 3 assists in the league.

In the CL he missed the first two games due to his back injury, then got subbed on for about 25 minutes for both games against Galatasaray (got an assist in one of them). In the other 4 CL games he completed 3 of them and came off in the 66th minute in the fourth one against Anderlecht. Also in the DFB Pokal he came back for the last 16 and completed both games (one of which went into extra time).

Can't say how well he's done on the pitch, but it seems like he's able to complete full games every week which is good to see.

Absolute top draw player before his injury. One of theee best CM's in the UCL for a couple of seasons. Thought he was definitely barca bound as he'd have been a great fit/replacement for Xavi.

Haven't seen much of him post-injury, which is my only concern. If he can get to even 90% of his "top level", we'll have a gem.

Not long got in, put on SSN and saw the breaking news. Absolutely made up. Haven't seen much of him since he returned from injury, but if he can replicate the kind of performances he was having at Dortmund a couple seasons ago, he's going to boss it.

Guess he's the number 8 Van Gaal's looking for, and come to think of it now, he'd be perfect. I can also imagine that he will eventually replace Carrick as a 6, as he's got all the attributes to do so.

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I think there will be clauses taking it to 22M. I was suprised to hear the Soldado fee is actually about 12 or around there, champs league and other clauses take it to 30M.

Seems for once City are praising us over in Blue Moon instead of slating us, grant it every ''great business for United'' comment starts or follows with some sort of an insult.
